    Femoral Nerve Anatomy Lecture: Gross Anatomy by Dr. G Bhanu Prakash
    The femoral nerve is formed by the ventral rami of L2-L4, specifically the posterior divisions of the lumbar plexus.
    The femoral nerve travels posterior to the inguinal ligament within the muscular lacuna. The muscular lacuna also contains the iliopsoas muscle.
    NAVEL is a mnemonic for remembering the neurovascular structures that travel deep to the inguinal ligament into the femoral triangle.
    N = femoral nerve
    A = femoral artery
    V = femoral vein
    EL = empty space (femoral canal) and lymphatics
    The femoral nerve provides motor innervation to the muscles of the anterior compartment of the thigh, with a few exceptions:
    -the psoas portion of iliopsoas is innervated by muscular branches of the lumbar plexus
    -tensor fasciae latae is innervated by the superior gluteal nerve
    -pectineus is occasionally innervated by the obturator nerve
    The femoral nerve provides sensory innervation to the skin of the anterior thigh and the anteromedial aspect of the leg. The afferent innervation of the leg is provided by the saphenous nerve (a branch of the femoral nerve that travels in the adductor canal).
    Injury to the femoral nerve typically produces: weakness of hip flexion, loss of knee extension (no patellar reflex), and sensory loss over the territories described above. usmle videos

    Sir, I am very impressed. You speak to point and clearly. You block your presentation in an architectural visual way well. Your scale of a large simple line anatomy diagram well washed in tone color. The student is not distracted by your drawing detain. To real or to bland, yours is perfect. You also have good use of labeling. Clear and to point. I’d like to recommend maybe as your talking to have your key words appear in a corner toned light grey to not distract but for the viewer to take a quick glance to spell. I spent a good time watching this video. A+++ so good I survived to learn the rest of the body. Hahaha. Great Job!

    Hi Dr Bhanu . I have lost my abduter and adducer in weightlifting training I spent 5 years going to the hospital to have jabs all sorts of things done to my with no results. Finally I went to a cariopractis who reinlined my back which got me moving again my mobility is good but after 9 years in total the two muscle groups will not respond with no growth what do you recommend thank you Tony

    Hi, I'm 49 and in good health and weight. 3 months ago I had increasingly pain at my lower back that came on over a couple of days. It was the worst pain ever and could not even move in bed for over a week. It has reduced to lesser pain now but still very painfully from left hip and groin area down front of my thigh to bottom of knee cap and to ankle. I'm on pain killers naproxen, gabapentin and codeine which takes the edge off it. I often end up being bent over because of pain and sometimes my leg gives way. What is causing this constant pain and how can I cure it please?
