    Example 2 in particular is great. Using USERELATIONSHIP to activate different perspectives within the model is a really common use case. This will make handling those instances so much easier.

    Hi Bas, I just want to say thank you to you and your channel. I mean obviously you also want to generate income with your tutorials, but your achievements are way beyond sth countable. I'm more from a business backround, but loved to work with Data and wanted to specialize in that field in my masters degree, which I then couldn't afford anymore due to the fact that my wife got pregnant (best thing on earth to me).
    So I stuck in a Job I didn't really like with litte time left to educate and grow. In addition to that, the most Courses or even Tutorials are very long-winded and kind of boring. I'm so happy to have found your Channel. Your Tutorials are on point and your enthusiasm really is contagious.
    Thanks to you I started to improve in Power BI which leads to an employment as a Junior BI Analyst. I know (especially when I compare my skillset with yours) that there is plenty of room to improve, but for now I'm very happy excited!

      Tabular editor; calculation item index ("ordinal" define the sorting order)

    • @jkbishop81
      @jkbishop81 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can drag calculation items up or down in the model pane, this is the same from what I can tell as setting the ordinal in Tabular Editor
      Edit : it's using the ellipsis on the calc item > move > up/down etc

    You truly a master! Thank you for sharing this helpful piece of your knowledge. I’ve a question, can we make an org chart in power bi with the default visuals or any custom visuals. For example if I’ve a data feed of 40+ employees with 4 to 5 levels within different departments . Similar to the one that we can create a diagram on power point. I’ve been looking for this since few months. But didn’t find helpful info. Could you please help on this.

    Happy New Year!
    For the dynamicity of the third example, could you not try to match allselected vs values of fields and make a switch to return a table for the x functions?
    Could be a pain to be exhaustive, but that way you could maybe do Year, Quarter and Product Category (only 2^3 scenarios to anticipate)

    • @HowtoPowerBI

      Hopefully, it does not calculate each scenarios.

    Hi! Is using calculations groups the right solution if I want to create a profit and loss statement with current year, last year (both from same table) and budget (from another table) next to each other in a matrix ? On row level i would also like to show profit % etc.

      I think this video will help you th-cam.com/video/J4317R5BvsA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_GS3RRvyH8woM2Op .. you can build it like in the video and to create the budget column you basically just create the same "master" measure that pulls in the budget values ... you could build it with a calculation group as well (got also a video on that)

    • @tongfattho6913

      Tableau is so much more simpler. DAX really makes thing morecomplicated.

    • @chiragmah
      @chiragmah 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Yeah it is difficult, but there is a good reason for it.
      Tableau can't get complicated calculation done especially when multiple fact tables are in scope.
      The sheer versatility of DAX makes it harder but once you understand it, you can never look at tableau in the same way IMHO.

      I think you can also add the Calculation group column to the Filter Pane. Eg. On visual level so that you can preset a certain conditional formatting setting without the need for a slicer.
