Yep, I got one of those kindling splitters, I use it while sitting around the campfire. I just use a regular hammer, a lot lighter. The fatwood don't need any help starting, just a match is all. Good vid. -Dave
Great video! Lil heads up with the fan. You can over heat them so consider when the heat is cranking big time. Maybe moving the fan farther away from the pipe. Pretty useful tools for the stove for sure!
Thanks Stan! I appreciate the advice, this fan is rated for use up to 800°F so I should be good most of the time… That being said, part of the reason why I got the thermometer was so I could monitor the temps for the fan and stoves well being!!
Order some replacement thermoelectric generators for fan off eBay. They are only a few bucks and I usually go though a couple a year. Usually melt when accidentally get stove to hot.
If your thermometer was on the outside of a double wall insulated pipe I’d say you are getting very inaccurate temperatures of what the stove is actually burning at. If you switch the position to the top of your stove or to a section of single wall pipe like I have going into the wall it will be more accurate.

Should have soaked the pot in a 80% vinegar 20% water for several hours then flush solution off kettle throughly the vinegar eats all rust of the metal……. ALL OF IT. Then that polish really takes to the metal.
Kettle and stove looks Great. Nice accessory!! Have a Safe Day

Try the thermometer on your stove pipe.
I have it on the stove to make sure it’s within the proper temperature threshold for the fan!

I’ll look into that, I don’t burn the stove too hot because then the room it’s in gets unbearable to sit in haha.
I have a double insulated flue so is placing the thermometer on the top the same as it been on the flue ?
