      +luvmylab 2 I think it's because when they arranged this for live shows Kevin was usually putting his cello away, they probably just haven't changed it

      Christus Factus Est is an SATB (four part) choral piece :)

    I saw them in Austin last night. This tied with Kevin playing the cello and beatboxing for my favorite part of the show. Holy cow. I had goosebumps the entire time.

    Starting with Bruckner! Fantastic.

    I have to say, I don't much like these sorts of choral pieces sung in a fairly poppy style, but they did do a fairly good job AND it got people in Bruckner which makes me very happy :) the comments under a choral version were all "ptx brought me here!" which would usually annoy me but I'm just glad people are getting into choral music haha

      Esmé I haven't heard the original, but I don't hear the pop in this choral piece at all, it sounds very traditional until the transition into Aha.

    • @achilleus9918
      @achilleus9918 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      fair enough, to me it sounds sort of in between pop and choral but it may just be that i'm so used to hearing their voices in the context of pop music that i instinctively hear that in their voices whatever they're singing haha. but it's not how any of my choir conductors so far would want it sung. that's not a criticism, just personal taste you know

    I wonder why I never see Mitch really get into the performance of the song like he did in Singapore? Not only was he singing his ass off there, but he was really performing it, with the little grins and then the serious looks after, the tilts of his head, every little hand and arm motion, and literally crawling on the floor, and covering his eyes and everything! Nothing else has all the drama of that... it just falls flat for me now. =( It's always good, but never great! I'm sure he's seen and heard of the reaction the fans had over his performance there. I can't imagine why he wouldn't go for something like that, or better, again since that's usually what they do... strive toward greater and greater heights!

    • @-sylvia3536
      @-sylvia3536 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      maybe because he could fall off the stage

    • @Anjalena
      @Anjalena 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He doesn't have to crawl on the floor... I just used that as one of many examples. But he was very careful when he did it the first time and he didn't fall off the stage then. Nor did he look close to doing so. Still, if the getting down on the floor part was worrisome, he could still do that part the way he does it now. But dulling all the other performance things, the gestures and faces... the theatrics that he put into it, those were more important to me than the floor crawling. That was just awe and neat icing to everything else!

      I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it was probably the 2 or so Red Bulls he had before going on stage in the Singapore version that kicked his performance into high gear.

      @@Anjalena I've read numerous mentions of him experiencing a bad case of jet lag, and he drank 2 or 3 Red Bulls before going on stage. By the time they got to that part of the performance, Mitch was no longer running on empty. Fortunately for us all, someone was able to record the performance on their phone. Many thanks to that person.

    I like them, but they clearly don't understand what this motet is about.. It shouldn't be sung in that fashion I think...
