Since our flight to Lukla was canceled, it’s time for Plan B: Langtang Valley Trek. Follow our journey, as we attempt to backpack and hike with our three young kids in Nepal. Today, we will take you on a 7-hour road trip away from the bustling streets of Kathmandu to the trailhead of the Langtang Valley Trek. We chug along the dusty, two-lane highway with dump trucks, overcrowded minivans, and the occasional tour bus. We stop for bottomless plates of Dal Bhat (rice and lentils) and Nepalese dried fruit candy. Shortly after lunch, the road narrows and we start the long, winding climbs along the steep mountain sides. When we make it to Syabruesi, our final destination for the day, we settle into the Yala Hotel, go in search of hot springs, and eat a hearty dinner before heading off to bed. Tomorrow, we will begin our epic 6-day trek through the Langtang Valley.
We were backpackers before having kids, and luckily we get to continue sharing our love for backpacking with our kids. If you love hiking and want to hike with your kids, Nepal is a great destination for your family.

We are the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly with our three children. We sold our home in Alaska, USA, seven years ago, and headed overseas. We are teachers and found fantastic teaching positions in India. Two years later, we moved to the United Arab Emirates. Three years after that, during the beginning of the pandemic, we made the move to our current teaching jobs in Indonesia. We love traveling and finding adventures as a family. NOTE::The snikers must be about atmost 50NPR each not 150NPR and the shampoos are of just 2NPR each.
If ur still in that area I recommend u to complain them sothat they wont do it again...
Snickers might be 100NPR but they should have given them on 60-70NPR

its amazing howw kelly been carrying the baby throughout the journey and have always smile on her face. i really hope she is not exhausted or tired. i love how the kids are soooo humble and disciplined and lovung. thank you for visiting our motherland.
These candies are made with “Lapsi” a typical fruit that found only in Nepal. The lapsi tree grows only at a certain altitude… it’s a sour, sweet and fleshy fruit - that’s boiled and the flesh is mixed with some spices .. pineapples.. mango etc or mostly just by itself .. the mixture is then dried and made into different shapes …
This type of snack is called “Titaura” or “Lapsi candy” that originated in Kathmandu valley … even till this day, it’s made in Kathmandu and exported to different parts of the country !!
There was a time when this type of snack candy was found exclusively in Kathmandu valley only !! It’s a unique fruit - ask the locals to show you what it is .. it can be eaten raw as well … very sour though !!

Nepal is ini my list of countries to visit someday. I really curious about the country, people, and the culture. Will you visit Iran or countries surrounding it like Turkey or maybe East Europe? I don't know if American could visit Iran but I knew other people (non Muslim, I think they're European) visit there, the mosque specifically. They gave the women a cloth to cover their hair. And I really love Mashad city. It was long ago in 2014. I make a plan to come back againwhen it's not in Pilgrimage season and not so packed.

The candies you tried are made from a fruit called lapsi or hog plum. You can also get these candies known as titaura made from other fruits like mango, tamarind, lemon, plum, etc. The ones you got are sweeter versions and a good introduction to titauras.
