  • We had fun doing this video for you guys! And we got to enjoy our Amish church peanut butter that we haven’t made in a while :-)! I hope you find it enjoyable and try out this recipe sometime!
    Amish church peanut butter
    1/2 cup peanut butter
    1/4 cup marshmallow cream
    1 cup corn syrup
Mix together thoroughly. Spread on a piece of bread and enjoy with a side of hot mint tea!
PS I would actually go light on the corn syrup.
And here is my healthy version of the Amish church peanut butter! :-)
    Approximately 1/2 cup peanut butter
Approximately 1/4 to 1/2 cup of maple syrup
    Approximately 1/2 cup whip cream.
Mix and add until it’s the right consistency and the taste is sweet enough!

I grew up in an Amish home, and I knew both of Joas's parents, Ora and Orpha. I very well remember those Amish church meals, especially the peanut butter mix. I remember when I was about 14 years old that I learned that non-Amish people actually ate peanut butter the way it came in the can, which seemed odd to me, since our family only had the mixed type.
We also had pickled beets and pickles at these lunches, but the pickles were always sweet pickles. If there were small pickles us boys would stab them with a fork and dunk them into the peanut butter. YUM ! I never heard of dill pickles until I ate at a restaurant, and to this day I have not acquired a liking for them.
I have been involved with a Country/Gospel music group which has a 3 day music weekend at a local campground, and for Sunday lunch we put up an Amish style lunch with homemade bread, peanut butter, apple butter, and ham and cheese. Our Facebook page is Boardwalk Music Group.

About 30 years ago, I went to Lancaster County, PA. I ate at a family dining restaurant. It was amazing! We sat with people at a big table that were from everywhere. We are scrapple, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, succotash, homemade bread, shoofly pie, iced tea, and coffee. The Amish people were lovely. I remember the famiily name, Yoder. Funny the things that you remember. I wanted to get a quilt in the worse way. I think the pattern was called corn and beans. Thank you for reminding me of a kinder time in the world.❤️

Mom made it with marshmallow creme and split corn syrup half with maple syrup. Only Peter Pan and if needed Jif.
We always had bologna and ham with Swiss cheese and Colby. Dill and bread and butter pickles, sometimes beets and a bread soup. This was all laid out on the bench tables on the old school lunch trays.🍱 Also there was white or wheat bread.
The best combo on the peanut butter was bologna Swiss cheese and bread and butter pickles.

I love watching you guys interact with each other. I need to try that church peanut butter. Growing up I ate peanut butter and pickle sandwiches often.

Good episode. I live in the Elkhart-Lagrange County, Indiana area near Shipshewana. Shipshewana is a big tourist area for people interested in the Amish. I like some of the Amish style restaurants. I have tried the peanut butter. Apple butter and the church peanut butter are on the table sometimes. I suppose my favorite food from Amish restaurants and bakeries are the pies. Raspberry cream pie is great.
The peanut butter is too intensely sweet for me but I suppose I would have liked it at the age of your children. Apple butter is more my speed. You have cute kids.

I love pickled beets too ! My favorite is the peanut butter made with maple syrup because it tastes good and is healthy.

My favorite is a hamburger on a bun with a slice of bacon and organic peanut butter. Yum. Love you all.

My mom would mix peanut butter and maple syrup when I was growing up and I loved it I've never had it with whip cream but I think I'm going to make some looks so good

I had a blast watching you, but I guess I was never Amish enough to enjoy sweet peanut butter.☺ I don't miss it at all.
Here in Amish country, Indiana, you can actually buy the stuff in stores or ask for it in restaurants! Pretty amazing!

I grew up in Michigan near Amish communities and my family and I would go to Amish church and they would have this. We would make it at our church too and we would dip apples in it.
