I always told my kids to not expect a gift for their birthday parties from friends, that the best gift a friend can give is them being able to show up and share the fun. I remember invinting a friend to my 12/13th bday party. He wasnt wealthy but neather poor, He wasn’t in the best relationship with his parenst, they probably didnt even knew he was invited so maybe there was a little neglet there. He was known to be the wild kid with no rules and guiadance, but he was really kind and sweet and a really good friend. He had wrapped me in a fast food bag and old stuffed animal that was probably his.. I tought it was the sweetest present ever! he gave what he could and that was more than enough! I also remember telling him I loved it but he still felt bad because everybody elses presents were so fancy and I wish he knew I truly appreciated him. In the end from that party the only gift I remember is his!
