How to Morph Logos in After Effects CC 2017

- In this tutorial I'll show you how to quickly morph one logo to another in Adobe After Effects CC 2017. This a great visual effects technique to have in your video editing arsenal and can become very useful once you get the basics down. To keep the tutorial short I show you the necessary steps you need to morph logos but there are many other techniques, plugins, and such you can add to really spice up this effect. For example, you can use a live action shot that transitions into a motion graphic logo that morphs into your company/client's logo. The possibilities are endless with this one and I hope this tutorial lays the groundwork for that.
• For this tutorial I use Adobe After Effects CC 2017. No plugins are required.
KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL VFX:
• Make sure you are copying & pasting the MASK PATH & SHAPE PATHs. They must be selected while you copy & paste.
• Use keyframes to your advantage. If your logo is too small or too large, use the Shape's Transform Size to resize it. Remember to keyframe the size first!

I am struggling with my logo. I has a complex shapes so when I auto trace I get a lot of mask layer therefore when I have to copy the mask path do I copy each and every mask path or is there an easier way to do this? I hope this makes sense

What happens if you wanna add more than one path from multiple masks?
How do you deal with morphing pats that cross? I know about changing first vertex, but often that's not enough. Also I see you have a few problems with path skewing during the morph.

The problem with this effect for complex shapes is that there is no real way to determine which of the pen points of the path will go where when it morphs. For example, ones from the bottom might move up to the top and cut across the shape, which is what creates that sharp edge scrap metal look instead of a smooth transition. This effect works really well with simple shapes, but not so much with logos or icons.

I am facing a problem when I am copying an object's path and pasting to another object's path with creating key frame after some time it is converted but, jurckly, not slowly as yours. Can you please give some reason for that? Thanks

how to marge all camera mask layers after auto traceing sir
anytime my shape has more than one mask is doesn't work :/ there's a certain shape I have that needs the second mask to be legible but its just not working only transfers into one of the masks :/
I tried this but after effects does some weird things when I do tis with my shapes :(

im having a lot of issues... when I auto-trace it doesnt show up as a new layer. It also leaves behind the original shape, while adding the new path over it on the same layer,etc..

Why are you assuming I don't want to use the other masks? Is it not possible to morph the more detailed shapes? Do they have to be silhouetted?
How would you add a rotation while it changes
can you make it the same but with words to an image?
At 2:39 when you pastr the path it filled with color but when i paste the path it doesn't fill with anu color

@@Prograffable copy the path, make a new shape layer ma with pen tool make as much shapes as in you path, now copy first path of logo and paste on first path of shape layer and so on

Great work! But I have a question. Can I morph with more as one mask per logo? For example, I want to morph my vectorized Name to my Logo. But only for my name I get a lot of Masks and if I copy all masks from my name and add to the path of the shape and morph to the logo it doesn't work.

Hi mesud, i got the same question but i kind figure it out, you only need to select your shape layer and create with the pen another path, it will give you in the same shape another one, so you only need to make the same number of paths of your logo. Hope this helps

You need to animate your anchor point, then the two objects will be centered.

Hi Max, I have a question. Hopefully you can answer.
I am trying to morph two logos together, but they are both logos which are TEXT. (.PNG if that matters)
So it is giving me roughly 20 paths on one logo, and like 4 or 5 on the other. When I try the merge, it only merges one letter from each logo. ( I'm guessing they are the same colour paths, so they are linking together).
So how would I make it merge all the letters together as one. I tried copying all 19 paths and pasting them onto the shape layer path. And like I said it only takes one letter from each logo. Can't figure this out, as a new user of AE.
