Just picked up the blu-ray a few days ago and gave it a go. I hadn't watched the movie since seeing it in theaters back in the day. Silent Running holds up remarkably-well. The film packs a hell of an emotional punch...straight to the gut.
There is a mistake in your book. Cliff Potts played the character John Wolf. Jesse Vint played the character Andy Keenan. 3 minutes 50 seconds into the movie the character Marty Barker calls the Cliff Potts character Wolf. "Wolf we've been up here 6 months you know? With another 6 to go. Doesn't that get to you?"

Yay! My heart always swells with joy when there's a new Mark Kermode video.
so his 12 year old experience of this was my 12 year old experience to grave of the fireflies
I really liked this film as a kid but it is depressingly isolated and sad.

Mark was only 30. Wow.
My Dad took me to see it at the Cinerama Dome. Kinda ironic, huh?
why not make Bio-Domes orbit the earth or make them on the Moon-Bio-Domes instead of traveling thru Space ?
strange. there is a clip from the movie. but it looks like a freeze frame. but it has film dirt all over. hm. i might just be trippin.
Where is the dolče Vita episode
Love Mark. The film sucks. Badly.
I gave in and watched it after listening to Kermode talk about it for years on end, and yeah, it's no great by any stretch of the imagination
It seems to have escaped you altogether that it's the second greatest film ever made.
@@Hallzach what’s the greatest film?
@@bartoni79 The Exorcist. It's all clearly stated in the video.
Silent Running is a bit pants though....And Bruce Dern is painful in anything.
Sentimental hippie drivel. I bloody HATE this film.
