    Thanks for sharing. Recording at 5 months really gives me a better idea of what to expect. All the best to you and your little one.

    Thank you for the video! Are you able to do the refrigerator trick between pumps, or do you have to wash all the parts between pumps?

    • @huntermerck
      @huntermerck  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i personally have multiple sets of parts and wash between each use since i have so many and also i use the dishwasher but the pump it’s self cannot go in the fridge (i tried and it had to warm up before it could be used) but if you’re comfortable with the fridge trick you can put the flange, diaphragm and container in a gallon bag and try that!

    Based on the book that comes with it and another creator the app is NOT supposed to connect to the pumps for adjustment control, just demonstrate the settings.

      i was able to get one of the pumps connected and it showed me how long i was pumping for and what settings it was on! their website also says they’re meant to be all connected and controlled!

    Quick question for you - you said in the beginning you had trouble getting any output / figuring it out. Was that just a matter of positioning? Or were there other troubleshooting things that you did to make it work? I bought mine retail 🙄 tried it once and it didn’t work, I’ve pretty much exclusively breastfed my baby who is now 17 mos old and I want to try to get the hands free pump going before I take my first trip away and want to be successful this time.

      @huntermerck  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it was positioning! since you can see the inside of the flange it’s hard to know if you’re lined up properly so you kind of just have to move it around until you get it in the right place, once you know it’s in the right place it’s easier to feel around to know how it’s supposed to feel. also making sure i had the pieces in there correctly as far as making sure the diaphragm was correct and the duckbills were pressed in all the way etc

    You mentioned they have one for right and left side, is there any difference between them, can you use the left on the right breast and vice versa? I’m getting one for Christmas and I need to go on a trip by myself and planning to pump and dump but I don’t really want to bring both sides due to space, so I’m planning to travel only with one and use it for both sides.

      @@palomashaw4351 you can use them on either side! they’re exactly the same! the only time it matters is if you’re using the app which i couldn’t get to work anyway

    I am wondering if you get more pump parts (such as flange and milk containers) since you’re an exclusively pumping mom. Because idk how quick the parts dry out after each cleaning. Or you will put them in the fridge to avoid cleaning after each session? Thanks!

      i pump 3-4 times a day right now and have two sets of parts for my willow and 2 sets of parts for my wall pump and i wash them all at the end of the day!

    • @huntermerck
      @huntermerck  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      oh also i use my wall pump first thing in the morning and my last pump of the day and the willow for the others, unless im traveling then its just a lot of washing lol

      Yes same here! I purchased 2 sets of flange and 3 sets of milk containers. However, I’m planning to put the wall pump at the office when I go back to work. Just want to use the Willow at home. If so, I think I will have to keep on washing them LOL don’t want to buy too much parts for now 🤣😅

    Did you start out with around 2 oz when she was just a couple weeks or have you had an oversupply or what have you done to produce a good amount? I see you have a container you’re able to fill her bottles. . I’m a second time mom and I try not to be frustrated but I feel like I should be producing more that I am :(

    • @huntermerck
      @huntermerck  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i didn’t start documenting until she was about three weeks old, but i looked back and i was getting between 2 and 8oz per pump depending on the time of day (on both sides combined) and would get an average about 25-30oz a day! by the time she was 6 weeks old i started to get 6-10oz per pump with an average of 30-40oz per day and finally i regulated about 8 weeks and have been averaging about 40-50oz a day since then. i don’t do anything special but i believe i have a high capacity so my first morning pump of the day is usually 8-9am and i get between 15-18oz total. i only pump 3-4 times a day now and its enough for me to feed my baby and freeze the rest that i donate to another baby. i’ve found protein helps a lot and i notice a larger volume after i’ve had a high protein meal, ive also started using oat milk in my coffee just to get a little bit of the oats, and i drink a pretty good amount of water but that’s just because pumping makes me really thirsty. i think the biggest thing for me is k notice i get more out when i more in so just making sure im eating enough!

      but also do not be discouraged! i’m very fortunate that im producing more than enough for my baby but remember that if you’re only making just enough for the day, then you are exactly where you need to be and everyone’s journey is different!

      @@huntermerck thanks girl, I appreciate it ! Wow! Yeah you are very fortunate to be pumping that much:) I’m trying to stay positive because stressing is the big no no for production lol.

      Im about to reach 1 week, didn’t even know exclusive pumping was an option either until baby wasn’t latching properly and lost too much weight and I broke out that medela pump from insurance (it was leaky and awful) and I wasn’t feeding my baby enough so I broke down and supplemented formula. But I had my husband run out and get the Willow and it’s been so helpful and less stressful. I’ve been propping my back up and napping while pumping which is amazing.
      Im just barely starting to pump enough, still having to supplement, i get so anxious that my baby is getting enough food it’s insane. Im still in transitional milk, so I really hope I get to produce a lot of milk for my baby! (right now I get about 1 oz per pump from both combined)
