As usual CTV is only half reporting…..aside from the ballooning costs to host the games, what are the financial benefits gained by the local businesses?
at least they arent spending millions to build a new stadium that won't get much use after the event is over
It has recently been upgraded with a new roof costing 500 Million dollars it was built just before expo 86 worlds fair
Remind me who signed up for this .
I'll never understand why fifa, olympics, etc don't have one main city/venue. build it as see fit. what the hell is the point of this travel bs.
world cup is too big an event for one city to handle. Olympics is possible because it doesn't require ten or more soccer stadiums in one city.
Dont think youll be complaining too much once you get into the weeds a bit about how much revenue is being made throughout the city and neighbouring areas. This is a cash injection into the city businesses which will positively trickle into the pockets of businesses in dire need for years to come.
@@9eightFilms That remains to be seen, Expo 86 show cased Vancouver to the world now everybody knows of it. If they come for a vaca they will do it FIFA or no FIFA Vancouver's best attractions are it natural beauty.
