Our English teacher wrote our city name as /koshitze/ for pronunciation purposes. Quite funny :) im happy you enjoyed Slovak food and hope you have many more good experiences in the future.
The reason why the google translate didn't work is, because the menu was written in Eastern Slovak dialect. Therefore was not a problem with the google translate itself.
Now you explained to me - a Pole - why sometimes I understand Slovaks perfectly, and sometimes I have really hard time with this. It's eastern Slovak which is easier to understand.
@@krakendragonslayer1909 hope it´s not late but yes. Eastern Slovak dialect sounds much different from the rest of dialects and from my personal experience, when I was in Poland for a few days, I spoke in dialect and it was much easier to understand me.
@@krakendragonslayer1909 Many regional dialects use Polish words, not only eastern. To me, Polish language sounds like it was put together from various Slovak dialects (although I am sure it was the other way around)
@@Stenly17 I guess it is because both of those langauges come from a common ancestor, an ancient dialect used in north-east Moravia 2800 years ago, and later they were in a language league because of geographical proximity The written, official Polish language comes in more than 85% from Kraków's dialect spoken 700 years ago.
Guys I am love your videos and You are a best I am I live for 1 and a half hours to kosice My slovak cousin live in there and kosice is soo beautiful city I Live in Kralovsky Chlmec little city but beautiful. Here have Hungarian people and Slovak.
Because at that particular Restaurant the menus are written in Old Slovak using words that are no longer used commonly and don’t have google translate translations (I know this because I’ve eaten there before)
I just visited Kosice and loved it. I know this is from 2021 but still, cheers for this! P.S. Maybe learn how to pronounce place names a little less horribly lol.

Hey, Slovakian is a word and is cited in the Oxford English Dictionary. However if people from Slovakia prefer us to use Slovak, we are happy to do this.
@@izzieanddale it doesn’t matter… Slovak and Slovakian is fine.. Although many Slovaks will prefer the Slovak version. But no one will correct you out on the streets. Just enjoy the time there. ;) (next time)

Haha, we’re still not 100% sure how to say it 😆
