Great job! Just found your channel; new subscriber!
The things those folks are saving seem like pretty standard items for anyone whose experienced really hard times, especially from older generations. My depression-raised nana used country crock and cool whip containers for Tupperware, saved pill bottles for small items like hair pins and tums tablets, saved used lightbulbs for darning socks, used drier sheets for scrubbing things, and more. Just making do ❤
I definitely agree with you there. I think there may have been some hard times and still are to some degree, so they are just trying to be resourceful!
My grandparents were depression era. My grandmother would reuse paper towels and the Saran Wrap off of ground beef! They saved rubber bands from the daily newspaper and bread bags. Today they would be “green” or environmentally conscious. 😂
how wonderful that they are willing to accept help, and to allow change. Excited to see how this progresses.
Me as well. Just leaving their place as I type and was working on their dining room and little hutch 🙂
The fridge is my favorite. You did so well. They must be so excited for you to come over
My help has really motivated them! I worked with them this past weekend on the panty (upcoming video!) and when I walked in they had already started clearing the dining area. I was impressed!
I’m 79 and I could use some help like this. How brave you are to let her help you !
Yes, they are both brave, but they are doing awesome so far!! Don't ever be afraid to ask for help 😊🤗
Wow! When you cleaned the cabinets! And the fridge! The whole cleaning was so satisfying to watch, thanks Heather!! 😘❤️
Thanks so much, Julie!
I use clear storage baskets to store plastics in. Just pull the basket out to retrieve the container you need. No scrabbling down on the floor and leaning into cupboards to find which one you need. Also keeps them altogether and neat and orderly, so much easier.
That's a great idea!
This is a wonderful thing to do for an elderly couple ❤😊
Thank you! They are loving their newly cleaned spaces. Slowly we are making our way through their apartment.
Awesome transformation
Thank you 🤗
Well done Heather- this couple’s life will be transformed by the ‘magic of tidying up’.
Pill bottles can’t be seen through so make annoying containers for nails bolts etc
Small glass containers with their labels removed make better containers.
Check the fridge temp too - it may have been set to low.
A better fridge for the elderly are ones that have the freezer section on the bottom.
That is great idea about the glass containers. I think once we get to their spare bedroom where I think he may be storing those types of items to put in small clear containers, I will definitely bring up that idea!
Great job, very satisfying to watch! Using a box to help you quickly empty drawers to then wipe them is very handy. The kitchen towels could be folded to stand upright in the drawer for easier reach. Have a great weekend all.
I did figure out about halfway through to dump the drawer into a box 🤣, and I will definitely try standing up the towels, thank you!!!
You did a great job,you are such a good organizer
Thank you 😊 organizing makes my heart happy ❤️
Thank you for helping this couple. God bless you.
Great job! I fold down my grocery bags as I put away my groceries. I lsy them flat, in their original shspe then I fold them, like you would a flag. This makes them very compact. It makes for a lot more room in a drawer or cupboard.
Oh, that is a good idea!
Excellent work!
Glad you like it!
I’m a new subscriber. Love this content!
Yay! Welcome - I hope to keep the content coming 😊
If you do get the kitchen floor tiles cleaner, try “mop n glo”, it was made to put a shine on those kind of floors!😂😅🤣
That kitchen looks great!
Thank you 😊
Your so sweet to help this couple. I know they appreciate you cleaning and organizing their belongings. God bless you all.
Enjoy your lovely organized home and life! Breathe easier! ❤
Hello from British Columbia Canada! First time watching your channel! I love it!
Hi Lisa! Welcome and thank you for watching! 😊
Hello 👋 new subscriber here.
Welcome! Thank you for subscribing 😊
Enjoyed the video… inspirational!
Thank you! The homeowners really were pleased with how it turned out!!
Just found you and your channel. Good job! I'm trying to do the same to my whole house. I'm getting there, but REALLY slowly. I applaud this couple for reaching out and asking for help. It's not easy to do this kind of thing on your own, and sometimes, it's even harder to ask for help. So, bravo! :)
I am cheering you on!! I feel like it took me years to get our house to the level of stuff we have now, so give yourself time. You will get there 🙂
@@HeathersHaven435 Thanks. That means a lot to me. My 'problem' is that I've kept my parents house, which means that a LOT of their stuff is still here, while a lot of mine is still located in the garage, 'in storage'. I've done a LOT, but there's still so much to do, and I'm the only one doing it. I'm such a procrastinator, with pack rat tendencies...lol Plus, I think there's some situational depression thrown in. I need something or someone else to focus on beyond me and my problems. Anyway, like I said, I'm workin' on it!! :) Thanks, again, for the encouragement.
@booberry329 that can be a difficult situation for sure. Little by 6 will come together. The clutter fairy on YT has a weekly podcast, and she has addressed your type of situation many times. She has so many great strategies for working through inherited items and similar situations. She is a professional organizer in texas!
@@HeathersHaven435 oh, thanks!! I'll check her out. (I'm in Tennessee)
So compassionate of you to help. Love the fast moving video!
Thank you! It was over 8 hours of footage, so I had to speed things up a bit 😊
It looks great!
Thank you!!
So satisfying waythis!! Great work!😊❤
Thank you so much 😊
Nice job!
Thank you 😊
This is soooo awesome! So sweet of you to do this for them! I can't wait to see the after! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I am working on their pantry today. Room by room, I will get it all done and give them a fresh start 😊
That is really nice that you keep doing what you do for these couples they have problems getting yourself together in the house I hope you keep on helping me now will you help people and God always have a to get back to you God bless 🙏🙏💖🙏😊😊
Thank you! I hope to be able to keep helping ❤
Merry Christmas 🎄
Happy 😃 new year Heather
Well done on the cleaning 🧹

Hi Heather! I'm a new subscriber! Great job!
Hi, Paula! Thank you 🙂
Greetings from Malta,Europe,God bless you all,I ve just subscribed
Welcome! I am so happy to have your here!
Great job.
Thank you!
I use paper towels soaked in vinegar and placed on the calcium buildup for about 30 minutes at a time to soften and remove the bad spots. Maybe that will help.
That is a great idea, too! I always keep vinegar handy because our area has such bad hard water, even with a water softener.
@@HeathersHaven435 our area does too. We have well water and a water softener system as well. I live in the East Tennessee mountains.
@@HeathersHaven435You can also use toilet bowl cleaner. It doesn't dry out as fast as vinegar and you can spread it out over the whole sink and let it do it's magic 👍
I just found your channel! Love how you put all the stuff in a box from the drawers to go through it!!
It took a minute to click, but found it easier to pick out what needed to be saved then throw out the rest.
Very nice job at cleaning and organizing!
I agree, saving used food containers to use as food storage is good but there can be an issue with the amount of items. Sometimes people don’t organize and use all the items they save effectively. They might just need 5 or 6 containers but they might save 20 or 30 _just in case_ ! That is not a good usage of space.
I was glad to see that the drawers were reorganized but that things were kept in the same place. It’s hard to have to _look_ for things. But organizing things makes it faster to find them.😂
Please _DO_ put things back in the same place, don’t just dump them in. Keep that organization going!
It’s hard for all of us. It seems wasteful to toss a “perfectly good” food container like a cottage cheese container or something like that. But if you have a bunch already, it is a waste of space and time to keep them all.
Yes, people sometimes “force” their unneeded stuff on others. They want to get rid of something and give it to someone else. It’s hard to say _NO_ - - you have to be firm firm firm and say _NO_ !
New Subscriber as of today! I am so happy to have found your Channel. Heather, you are such a sweet person to help this couple. It's wonderful to see this couple accept your help! They both must be
overjoyed to have a safe clean and organized kitchen! Can't wait until your next video when you tackle the pantry!
Welcome, Linda 😊!! The pantry video is up already so go check it out if you haven't done so already 😀. I will be posting cleaning videos of their home each Saturday until I work my way through their whole home.

Awesome job guys ❤keep up the great work
Thank you! Will do!
I am new to your channel. I have subscribed. You did an amazing job on this kitchen! I hope this lovely couple enjoy the nice clean space. Best wishes to all from Canada.
Welcome, Diane! They are very much enjoying their refreshed spaces so far!
Nice motivation ✨ Longer ones are the most realistic videos 🙌
Thank you!
Wow. You did an awesome job!
Thank you so much 😊
👏👏👏👏👏
Wonderful cleaning!
Thank you 🙂
Why so many tinned goods in the fridge, wouldn't they be better in cupboards ? Here in the UK I keep them in cupboards and only cool them in the fridge like corned beef so it is easier to slice. Loved the clean.
I think that is just the way the couple preferred to keep them 😊. I keep them in the pantry, as well. I am glad you enjoyed the clean!
Hi from New Zealand, Heather! First time I've watched your channel and I really liked it. This wasn't your typical, horrendously filthy hoarder type of place, just too much stuff and needing a good clean which you were lovely enough to provide. I was surprised they kept tinned goods in the fridge, and did I see a bag of potatoes too? I may be wrong about the spuds, but it's not the right place! I also saw some picture hooks in one of the "junk drawers" - they could be put in one of his pill bottles, lol. Anyway, it looks much fresher and cleaner and I really like your cleaning style as well as video style so I've subscribed. Cheers from a very warm, summery NZ!
Welcome! I am glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Looks great. I know he was nervous. lol. Someone stored my Pyrex measuring cup in the wrong place and that drove me nuts.
Having your items moved around can be unsettling, for sure!
If I was a landlord,I was be unmotivated to give tenants new items when they clearly haven’t taken care of them. When you are all done, they should invite the landlord in for a tour and then ask about a replacement, you never know. ( An awesome change out for an elderly person, especially if they have arthritis in their hands, would be to have a new faucet installed with a high curve to rinse pot’s easily but especially a single handle for the hot and cold water instead of the two, hard to turn knobs)
Yes, I wish many of the finishes in their apartment could be replaced 😔
Watching you do all that cleaning has made me tired, I think I'm gonna have to take a nap now😂
🤣 naps are excellent and a very important part of my life as much as cleaning, lol.
Use CLR it’s a calcium remover works amazing
❤❤
The place didn't look that bad and with your help they will do better
I think they are on the right track!
Adorei sua faxina! Beijos do Brasil!🇧🇷
Welcome! I hope you enjoyed the kitchen transformation 😊
Refrigerator crisper drawers really do become black holes. Don’t understand why they’re storing unopened canned goods like tuna, etc.in the fridge but that’s where I would store them. Then if they are “out of sight, out of mind”,at least they won’t spoil like fresh vegetables. I personally keep all of my salad stuff in a Dollar Tree basket on a shelf in the fridge and pull out the whole thing every time I make a salad. (I RARELY have to throw away spoiled food)
That is a good idea!
❤ Awesome job helping this elderly couple. For an elderly people, I strongly recommend *not* storing anything on the top shelf since reaching it might be dangerous if they need a step ladder. ⚠️ Also, since he's using an excess of empty pill bottles for screws/nails storage it sounds like he needs a system. Dollar Tree sells tackle boxes 🧰 he could store these items into and it would help him part with all the unneeded bottles. It would also be modular for handy projects and he could add his tools into it from the other drawer. 🛠️
Those are great ideas! Thank you!
When I help people organize,I ALWAYS put the plastic storage containers, bowls and colanders, etc. on the top shelves of the cabinets because they’re the lightest weight to pull down AND if they fall, don’t break or cause injuries.(like items can even be stored in Dollar Store baskets to pull down all together)
I am 74 yrs old and am somewhat disabled. Gosh how I used to clean and do so many things and now it is a struggle to keep floors and carpets cleaned. It will get worse as time goes by. One thing is organizing medications and those little baskets would help a lot. I turn the medication caps upsidedown and label them on that surface , like the atorvastatin is a "A" on top and so forth . It also helps to have a clock nearby to keep track of when I took them. I know this sounds silly but it helps me not to take a double dose because of forgetting when I took them. I also write them down and the time I took them. I dont take a lot of meds but some people are on multiple meds and well old people do tend to forget and that can be serious, hope this helps someone .
That is an awesome system for your meds! It is so easy to forget!!
That would be awesome to watch this with the audio on so we can hear the sounds of the things in the drawer being moved around and not the music with all the words. Music is really hard to please everyone. I think that’s why they use elevator music in elevators and doctor offices so that it’s just slow calm and relaxing and nobody can complain about it haha
Either way this was super satisfying to see
Yes, I found the music off putting too. I would like the normal cleaning sounds better.
I would love to, but there are conversations going on so much of the time it was just too much to edit 😩 Both the husband and wife want to maintain their privacy, and the conversations were sometimes too sensitive.
They can tell well meaning people, they are trying to purge and downsize too. But thank you for thinking of them.
They just need someone to help them along and provide a fresh perspective!
What about cleaning behind and beside refrigerator, cook oven, washing machine?
I definitely want to come back to those areas, time permitting. I think they would be a satisfying before and after, for sure!
Those refrigerator bins would be easier to clean at the sink and put some water in them and let them soak while you clean the shelves.
I really need to organize my every room in my house, it is overwhelming since we moved to down size in our retirement years. Husband is legally blind and
It is up to me, 1 room at a time, not easy. Hang in there we will get it done.
I bet that is overwhelming
Just take it room by room, section by section and you will get it done!
What kind of cleaners did you use on the floor?
I forgot my supplies the first round, so I used dawn and vinegar, then rinsed with hot water. Then, when I went back the second week, I used pinesol.
They should have Hired a cleaning lady a long time ago. Thank God you were there to help them. I hope they continue to keep it clean Didn't their family see that they were struggling their children so sad.
Unfortunately, a cleaning person was not in the budget. I'm happy to give them a fresh start 😊
If they are like my 89 year mother, she won’t let my sister or me help her.
@marciamartin5559 There is definitely a good amount of reluctance, but less so on the wife's part. She has been the driving force!!
Hi! I've never seen canned goods in a fridge? Was it tuna, or pet food?
Neither have I - I guess that was their preference! It was tuna.
Looks like vct tiles and they need a type of stripper and then wax. Armstrong sells it that professionals use but some flooring stores will have it for retail.
Oh, interesting. I will have to look into it.
HI, let's show too on your videos how do you make recycling trash 😉
My mom tended to buy the same things over and over again. Needed or not. She would go to the supermarket and just buy the same things even though she had it at home.
She had tomato soup cans going back 10 years or more all stuffed on the top shelf - - - cans and cans of out of date soup which she didn’t use that much either. That could be why so much extra food is purchased by this couple. The husband needs to make a _real shopping list_ ! And not just go ad hock and buy anything.
Shopping lists are so helpful. I always do an inventory of what I have while creating my list. Helps to keep grocery costs under control!! Hopefully, their organized space will help them save money in a few categories where there already is an abundance of items.
@@HeathersHaven435 I am terrible with using the food in my small refrigerator freezer so I have also done an inventory of my freezer compartment. And I have put things in the same place, frozen meats in the frozen meat section, etc. I try to keep it current. If I use something, I try to delete it from my list. And I do try to add new items as well. I’m not perfect at keeping it up-to-date and sometimes I need to go through and check everything. But it certainly does help with knowing what is in the deep freeze… And using it…
Hi! This is right up my alley! Ty for the motivation:) It’s awesome that this couple reached out for help!!! Looking forward! 🧼🧹🧽🧺🏠
Yes, I am looking forward to working my way through their apartment, slowly but surely!
Iam from algeria
Welcome!!
Why are there tin cans in the fridge? I don’t think I have ever seen that. Is there a reason people put unopened canned food in the fridge?
I am curious not being judgmental at all.
Great job on the kitchen !!
I am not sure, just think it is their personal preference. Thanks for watching!
@@HeathersHaven435 Thanks for your reply. Have you seen that before? My Mom used to open tuna in a can and leave it in the fridge until she finished it. I open catfood and cover it and leave it in the fridge until it’s done. So maybe they just like to keep certain cans in the fridge? Anyway, I appreciate your response ☺️✌️
@@lorettalouvros207 What kind of food I wonder??? Do they like to eat those foods cold perhaps?? Right out of the can, cold??
I put single serving juice cans in the refrigerator….
Limw Away may fix sink problem
That is definitely something to try!
Try power paste
I finally just bought some, and I am excited to try it out!!
Girlfriend, I would of pulled all the plastic grocery bags out of that drawer and purchased them a plastic grocery bag organizer and placed it in a more functional place.
I am trying to keep things roughly in the same location to ease their anxiety about having their space cleaned out. But I do agree with you, that drawer is probably not the best space for those bags.
Why they store cans in the fridge?
Not entirely sure...think it is just personal preference 🙂.
@@HeathersHaven435. What kind of food?? Maybe they eat them cold right from the can, perhaps???? It depends on the food.
well dopne! i see i have some hoarding tendencies, and will trash things tomorrow! thanks!
I wish you a productive decluttering session 🙂!
she will never be able to get that crockpot out of the back of the cupboard. I would have left it accessible on the counter.
She does not go into the kitchen really at all because it is such a tight space, and her husband does all of the cooking. That being said, the crockpots were never used, so I think they were keeping one "just in case" 😉
Why are you calling this a hoard? Also, it would be better without the music. I'm happy you are helping them !
I think you did a wonderful job. But to call his a "hoarder home" is a bit over the top. It's a cluttered home, no doubt about it. But hoarders are much, much worse than this. Still, very kind to help a couple that need help. X

I do agree.
SO MUCH NEATER
Would be a good video but sorry can't stand the music but can't mute it because then I won't hear you 🤔❓️
I am sorry you don't like the music!
@@HeathersHaven435 MY ADHD 🤷🏼♀️ TY though.
@@AngelaMStovall I am trying out some slightly slower music on the next one, so thank you for the feedback!
Beautiful mess mentioned you
Well I am happy to have you here!! Bonnie was so kind for th shout out🙂
I love cleaning videos....but this music is just too much. Maybe some chill music is fine...but this music just doesn't fit. I know I can turn the volume down, but it just isn't the same. Like the dialogue.
Thank you so much for the feedback! In the pantry video, I did some slower music and more dialogue. I will keep that in mind when I post this coming Saturday's video.
The music is great if you are on your treadmill! I love. It!
I agree about the music, it’s too loud and I prefer the actual cleaning sounds.
I know I can turn it off or down. But I think this music is not appropriate. More quiet music would be better if there has to be music.
Why do they have canned goods in the fridge,it’s a huge waste of space
I am not sure, I think that is just the way they prefer it.
