Good insights from General Alabi Isama. However, the dimensions of the security challenges being faced in Nigeria now are far different from what it was during his time. This time the military itself are part of the problem, the political class are the key sponsors, and so what we can do now is to treat the situation as full scale war which is what it is. These are criminals killing innocent people and they should all be cleared out.
As for Nigerians doing all the talk talk about the situation, no problem when we are ready as a nation we will solve the problem.

Big security issue and presenter was trying to water it down with silly laughters. Anyway, well done Pa Godwin Alabi, problem is these "fighters" are over 30,000 scattered all over Nigeria now. Not, counting the "sleeper cells" rumoured to be planting around too. Dialogue and negotiation might not be the best approach at this stage. You said it already, that would have been effective at their early stage of "a few thousands of naira" they were demanding for negotiations then.
Gumi? I don't think these 30,000 and the different fractions will listen to Gumi. There must be another approach on your military book in this scenario - you need to be part of the security advising team in the Nigerian government.

I love hearing this ex-2iC of the 3rd Marine Commando speak and always sharing his geo-political and military tactical knowledge.
He was right, anybody vying for that Presidential seat must be critically questioned and must greatly show an understanding of the regional political understanding of the nations which surround Nigeria as well as how to immediately tackle the arising challenges posed by those nations.

The analysis is superb. But what is happening now is different from what was happening then. There are missions to accomplish with facts. Miyetiallah group, whose patron is buhari, is the organiser of the insecurity in Nigeria. What are they doing in all the forests in the west, east and Middle belt? Why is the federal government attacking anyone vocally going against these atrocities of bandits? Why is the buhari government silent on herdsmen open grazing operations? Why are the bandits succeeding in attacking Nigeria Army bases? Summary is fulanisation and islamisation agenda. Therefore, General Alabi should go back to his expertise arsenal of strategies to combat the current issues, else all your labour of uniting the country will be in vain.

I only buy half or less than half of what this man is saying. A better deal to tackle this issue would be for all the intelligent officers ex and present serving, from the middle belt down to the south west , south south and south east to take the bulls by the horn not wait for a politician, bundle buhari or whoever is in asorock down to Siberia float a statement through media even if its at gun point that he is undergoing some surgery, then install the vice to take up leadership reshuffle the military on the one hand and take out about 30 to 40 top Fulani military officers Then instate the okons , the emekas , the banjos , the irabors and the inyangs as Generals and the top rank and file of the military and all across the army defenses then lets see what becomes of any one parading himself as terrorist or bandit roaming freely and wielding Aks in broad day light. I am simply stating in case i haven't expressed myself very clearly that I am personally disappointed in the so called intelligent military officers from the middle belt down south especially the active serving ones. Tackling this issue doesn't really require rocket scientists or experts juggling complex figures in their heads . Its about intelligent officers understanding the charge and call to duty . Its about balls and courage. Its about action and stealth . In the days of Nzeogwu , the sooner he found out Ahmadu bello was building a fantasy about a Fulani Jihad, the sooner he went after him and chopped him off! My question is where the hell are the intelligent military and secret agent officers from the middle belt and south? Why are they behaving as civil servants employed to do a nine to five and then go back home to slumber twice that till the next day!

Obsolete equipment so outdated and unfit for modern security, are being used by all regiments of Nigerian Army. Old 1970s weapons cannot be used to secure our Nigeria in 2022. The 1970 weapons are failing and falling the soldiers of Nigeria in disgraceful disaster.

@@smilingbuddha6457 People make money from every war, billionaires were made during Biafra Civil war too, but the difference now is that patriotism and love of humanity is dead, VIPs now see Nigeria as a milk cow they will suck to death, and Government is not competent enough to handle such Nigerian saboteurs. 🇳🇬🇳🇬

This man running mouth here thinks that those days are one. Do you think the Northern Nigeria want this to end?.. People who claims that Nigeria is for them. After all thus vast land in the North they still trooping down to the south. Every one knows what they want though their policies. People don't want Nigeria anymore. Stop saying the country you fought for because after that fight what is still happening. How do u keep marriage that can never work and has never worked.

Nonsense! Totally an irrevelant interview. Sam Omatseye, an Itsekiri, has always been anti-Igbo in ALL his writeup about Igbo/Biafra. Same with Isama - read his Tragedy of Victory - The Nigeria-Biafra War

A smart and forward looking administration should designate him its minister of defence. His book “The Tragedy of Victory” is an unputdownable masterpiece frontline account of our civil war.
