I installed DTOS on Manjaro and it has so far been a clean experience. The programs that were installed were easy to configure (if needed) and the applications are great. Keep up the great work!

Great to hear that it's working for you. To be honest, I do most of my testing with DTOS on Manjaro, so I expect it to be a smoother experience than on other distros (since I can't possibly test every Arch-based distro).

I love Manjaro W/KDE I recommend it to everyone who wants bleeding edge with stability. The Manjaro team is innovative whit a focus on the future. Once Wayland is fully functional with rock solid stability - game over

@Red Rebel__ I recommend KDE/plasma for versatility, customization, features, and integration. For one example KDE Connect for flawless integration with smart phones. There are numerous reasons. I'm not sure why you would have an issue, especially with Manjaro. Nevertheless, if you're happy with Gnome stick with it. It's not a terrible DE by any means. I think you will love v42 coming out soon.

I just set up Manjaro with DTOS and it's great! Thank you so much!
As a long time Ubuntu user, I'm finding myself lost in several areas... I'll post some of my questions here and hopefully people can point me in the right direction.
    - can I re-run `./dtos` to change my settings, like which shell I want as my default?
    - How do I open a file explorer? (I figured this one out - I open Nautilus through the run menu... is there a short key for this?)
    - How do I open a systems settings window? I'm wanting to change my mouse/trackpad scroll settings and position my displays relative to each other.
    - How do I switch which monitor conky shows up on.
    - How do I change from one of the shells to another? (setting my default as Fish or ZSH, in a lasting way)
    - How do I remap my capslock key to another control? (normally I'd do this in settings but I can't find settings)
Posting questions here is probably fine because maybe it will help others with the same questions. But I was wondering if there's a discord or something somewhere for people to learn from each other on this setup? In lieu of that, a "here are the 10-20 things I do most often in xmonad" kind of list might be helpful for someone like me. Anyone have a few xmonad commands you use most often that you want to share?
    So far I'm using:
    `super-enter` for terminal
`super-shift-enter` for run menu / finding apps
    `super-shift-c` to close
`super click drag` to float and move
    `super right-click drag` to resize floating windows
    `super h` and `super l` to resize main window
    `super k` and `super l` to change focus
And I'll get more over time... but yeah - I'm in the noob time on this setup, and any tips folks have to get settled in would be so helpful!
I'm also going to check out the doom emacs video soon, as I've been a vim user for years and would love to see what all this emacs stuff is all about. ;)

So DT. On your script you check for root users with "if [ $(id -u) = 0 ]". Wouldn't it be better to use "if [ $HOME = /root ]", since that's what you're looking for?
The reason I say that is because you could still use "sudo -E" to execute the script, instead of calling it from inside every now and then.

I have encrypted my drive and it took a lot of times to boot. I used archlabs before, encryption worked nicely on it. Arco takes me to the grub rescue mode if I type the password wrong.

EndeavourOS is very much in line with vanilla Arch, same as Garuda and unlike Manjaro. They just add extra packages precompiled from AUR to their own repo, instead of replacing packages from Arch. Installing DTOS should be as straightforward as with Arch

    • @DistroTube
      @DistroTube  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

The last time I tried DTOS on Endeavour, the installation failed because DTOS tried to install 'yad' and Endeavour has their own custom version of 'yad' called 'yad-eos'. So either remove 'yad-eos' before running the script OR remove 'yad' from the pkglist.txt before running the script.
