Seem like all those parents were really good about telling the kids not to bother the dogs while they working. They all must have been so scared when the leopard jumped at the glass

Yes! I was actually overwhelmed by the amount of educated parents. At 9:00 if you listen really close you can actually hear a lady explaining what a Service dog is. She was explaining that Lil' Bit detects seizures (she doesn't but hey close enough).

I'm going to the zoo with my SD for the first time next week. I'm very excited! Suggestions?

Depending what zoo you are going to just make sure you know the policies. Also if any animals get agitated about having a dog there remove them immediately, don't stay for the sake of a photo or the reaction.

That’s so cute that I heard some moms educating their children about the “service puppy”

Thats really cool, you live in Jacksonville im guessing? I live close, i live in georgia but my grammy and uncle live there and we go often to visit. Ive gone to that zoo many many times so i found it interesting seeing someone else go there i like watching. I currently am looking into getting a SD, for a leg problem i have, severe anxiety and a few other things. Anyways keep up the good work💕

Paws 4 Service it’s the Jacksonville Zoo policy she’s not allowed in the butterfly or aviary exhibits. At Disney they are allowed with precaution and she went into it with me there but the Jacksonville Zoo specifically told us service dogs are not allowed in them.

I'm assuming they want to minimize the risk of the dog thinking it's at an all you can eat buffet. Lol

Random question, I don't mean to offend a handler in anyway I'm just curious....
When you bring your SD places like the zoo, is there a risk of the dog "forgetting" it's working and react instinctually? A hundred years ago I saw a short video of a guy with (assuming) a service dog at the zoo over by the mountain lions or tigers. The mountain lion (or tiger) noticed the dog and instantly reacted by appearing to stalk and hunt. The dog started whimpering and his whole body language shifted. The dog instantly knew it was being sized up and was pacing. If the handler had let go would the dog have stayed because of its training or would self preservation set in?

Karen our local zoo doesn’t even allow us in any of the large car exhibits anymore. She really just stays focused on me anytime we go to the zoo. We go almost on a monthly basis now. I have never had trouble with it.

Karen like in this video it was the first time that happened with the tiger so she was a little off guard by it but gained back her focus really fast.
