      sean rollins had to have been 1982 and 1988 because of that size 2001. Probably 1983-84

      Oh yes. I’ve seen a 9806 on a 2903 light plate only once in a building. I want to get one really bad

    • @ZakWolf
      @ZakWolf 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the building was built in the 1920s or maybe the 1930s, and then had the Simplex system installed in the early-to-mid 1980s.

    Great video as usual, can't wait to see what's next!
    I just love the older style 2903 units. My school has a 4020 with 2903 strobe plates and 9838 horns in marchtime. During a fire drill it sounds amazing, and it's not ear piercingly loud like the electro horns used today, although I'm more used to those than the older electromechanical horns but I still like them a lot.

    • @bentheidioticnerd8993

      Mechanical horns are my favorite, but I also want a 2903, especially an incandesent light version

  • @ZakWolf
    @ZakWolf 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It seems all the Simplex 4005 was typically used for was to replace older hard-wired conventional fire alarm panels, like the 2001 for instance. (They also made a version of the 4005 that could be installed in a single-bay 4002 cabinet!)
    The 2901-9806 horns on 2903 light plates are cool; a very common type of fire alarm signal setup found on 2001 systems.

    My school runs on a Simplex 4005 system with just TrueAlerts, 2 remote strobes. The other school building has a mixed system, I don't know what the panel is, it's not a Simplex, but the fire alarm system from what I know now has 2 Wheelock 7002t's, I don't know if one is a 7002t-24, and 2 System Sensor P2r (A.K.A. SpectrAlert Advance) remote strobes, and one outside with a weatherproof backbox, and one in the Kitchen. Also, I think there is a Wheelock AS remote horn, I don't know if its rare or not, Last fire alarm but not least, is a boring Wheelock MT in the gym. Way more cooler than the EST Genesis system in old school!

    nice video! I just have some advice. I think you should always pull the pull stations. even if they have the break rod in them. and you can bring more break rods with you. just because key activating them does not fully test them. you should make sure that the handle makes contact with the switch/button. just in general

      I understand the basic concept manual fire alarm stations. Been doing this a while & I often have this brought up. Bear in mind what you see in the videos isn't all of what I do. All of my pull stations get functionally tested at least annually if not more depending upon frequency of which I'm on site.

      @@thegamingsfirstchoice8187 well he puts the panel into walk test because he doesn't have to walk all the way back to the panel silence it and reset it every single time he pulls a pull station plus it's too much glass besides who'd want to put who'd want to go around pulling a Pull Station going back to the panel and resetting it he does that because maybe there's a 10 floor building and he is on the 10th floor and the panel is on the 1st he doesn't want to do that besides it's faster you nut.

    This is a 1920's school building; I can tell by the architecture. My town had one but it was closed for over 25 years and was recently razed to make way for a housing development. They're going to incorporate parts of the old school into the homes and signage though, which I think is pretty cool.

    This kind of reminds me of the older fire alarm system in the main administration building at my friend's university. They originally had a Simplex 2001 system installed in 1979 or 1980, and the alarms were 4051+4050-85 horn/lights, but they had the same single-action 4251-20 pulls, along with old Simplex-branded ESL smoke detectors. In the early 2000s, a Simplex 4100 panel replaced the 2001. Then a couple years ago, everything got replaced with a modern Simplex 4100ES voice-evac system with TrueAlert speaker/strobes and the new Simplex 4099-9006 dual-action pulls with the LED indicator.

      They are plastic or fiberglass rods that act as a tamper-proof means to prevent the pull station from being accidentally pulled. In essence, they help to secure the lever in position to prevent it from dropping say if something were to inadvertently come in contact with it.
