My impression of Strange World is that they took a team of concept artists, told them the general plot, locked them in a room for 3 days and said "go wild". The designs of everything were so incredible!
I was genuinely surprised by where the movie went. I didn't see much of the previews but they didn't give the plot twist away and it was really nice to be surprised by it.
Really good video. Love that you were able to interview the directors. This movie feels like it just came out of nowhere, I haven't seen any marketing for it. I've only known that it exists because I've seen that there's a screening of it in the screening schedule for my nearest cinema. Without that I wouldn't have known about it at all.
I just saw it, and yeah, this movie was barely promoted at all. Although I also don't remember a lot of promotion for Encanto either now I think about it. Does disney just not want to promote animated movies?

You need to make another video discussing the *realm of monsters* that was a place in both movies. The land in strangers world looks almost identical to the realm of monsters on mosna but with mosna it was at night time so it was darker.
Seamus's hair colour is completely different than any of his previous ones. More proof that he's trying to sell another model of his action figure so it can come to life and meet Woody and Buzz.
I wasn't sure on how to feel with this one, to be honest. It wasn't bad by any means, but I just couldn't get attached to any of the characters personally, which is something I'm not used to for Disney animated movies. (Except Legend, he's the best boy.) That said, the message was one I don't see too often in family movies, so that was nice! The plot itself felt a bit more easily predictable than previous ones, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw the big similarities to Moana lol

I can tell you, I was raised in a religion that doesn't approve LGBT, so I'm still habitually put off by it (even though I no longer subscribe to those beliefs, they are still hard to forget entirely), but I still enjoyed Ethan as a character, so what I'm saying is I don't think you like Ethan just because of your biases, but because he's a genuinely good character.

I don’t know why but this movie was kind of bleh for me. My son was also just kind of meh about it. I did like the visuals and the detail put into those visuals. I liked some of the dialogue though typical parent banter was still cute like the mom defending why she was staring. As I am a mom. The message is a good message, and there isn’t a clear villain in this other than concepts and way of thinking rather than a person being the bad guy. Such as thinking what you’re doing is good when it’s then proven not. deserting your family for 25 years. Putting pressure and expectations on your child. Etc.
The problem with this show Is nothing in particular it’s a pretty OK show The problem is how homophobic people have been about it There’s been so much homophobia, and just TH-cam comments about it

So I have become weird when it comes to gay characters and it isn't like a phobia it is more picky at how they are used. Like if they just threw in a gay character for that audience and didn't make a well rounded character that also makes sense to be gay then it works well but if the character just is gay all of the sudden without going through a journey of change if they weren't before or if it is added to a character for no reason it feels wrong. I also hate when a universe is over saturated with gay characters which is hard for to happen with how newly accepted gays are but boy did cw do that and it got real annoying as that is not how many gay people should be in there world statistically. Like they made a character trans and it only was used for one episode and saw them going after trans abuser and it was so weird to see that side of them for just one episode
From someone who has watched the movie, I think Ethan is definitely a well rounded character. Unlike Seamus, I like him and he's basically a queer nerd who cares about the environment and wants to be an explorer. It also didn't seem forced and it was just kind of a normal thing. Nobody batted an eyelash that he had a crush on a boy. Now that I said that, there's not an arc and it's not a main focus. The entire thing is "he has a crush on a boy that he's nervous about" and that's it. Spoiler alert: even when they get together, there's not even a kiss and there are plenty of kisses with the hetero parents (I mean they're cute tho but it's clear Disney didn't want too much gay). I'm not saying it doesn't make an impact of Ethan just being there and not having to make a big deal about his sexuality but I'm not praising Disney anytime soon.
Oh I just read your comment back. When I meant forced, I meant that yeah it makes sense. I mean he's a pretty nerdy teen and the world seems pretty diverse. It makes less sense that everyone in that world is straight like it makes no sense if everyone in our world is straight
About CW if you are talking about Nia, it's because the actor is trans, she had to fight to get what little part of her story and how, yes if a trans character got powers they didn't think they would get it would effect how their family sees them and how they want to help other trans people. It was not a plot for one episode it was her whole character introduction. Trans girl gets powers that should of been her cis sister's and now is astranged from her family so works to stop transphobia in the way she thinks a superhero would. By punching the bad guy!
Also there will never been enough gay characters I'm sorry but we aren't a small group of people we are 1 in 6, we exist and if CW or any other company wants to add us into a story respectfully then they can because we are constantly used as the tropy friend or the character you kill to further the main Character's plot or the villain. We have never needed more representation then we do now. So sorry that you are annoyed that gay people are in a show you but sorry. "Too many?" Do you know how gay people work? We form groups to hide away from homophobes who don't want us. That's why you will see a group of gays rather then just one. Trust me. No gay person hangs out with just straight people.
