There is actually a long history of claiming "outsider agitators" are causing all the trouble as a pretext for shutting down protests. Again: what did the student protestors have to say about what happened?
Local cops did don Guy Fawkes masks in Antifa protests and began to vandalize to sully the peaceful protests like the "200 Mules" guy was a mole. Local vendors were briefed to make sure they had insurance and might need some new siding. BLM had mostly white protestors, and neither group were considered an organized threat by the FBI, only by murdoch's so called news shills.

If you think policing hasn't changed, I was at the San Francisco State University demonstration in '69 when the SFPD Tactical Squad concealed their badges, put on their riot gear and then charged into peaceful protesters who were on the lawn...not blocking buildings nor inside them, not throwing objects, etc.I carried a scar on my cheek where a cop broke my glasses with his baton and shattered them. In '68 in Chicago, where the CPD behavior was called a "police riot" and the many other grotesque violations of human rights that have happened in this country over the years.
Contrast that with the actions of the NYPD at Columbia U. last night. No tear gas, no beatings...just professional LEOs enforcing the law.
Yeah, I know it can still be dangerous to encounter LEOs anywhere, but today I believe that. at least In major cities in the North and West, most officers are serious professionals that respect the Constitution and have good control of their emotions. I've ridden with police many times when I was a reporter and have come to respect those who do the job properly. It's a damned difficult job and I wouldn't want to do it.
As for police who do not respect the laws they're hired to enforce, department managing officers and the rank-and-file need to understand that one bad colleague poisons the entire department. You're doing no one a favor by protecting the 'thin blue line'.

Nasty stuff...but then again, in my protest days, which ended about five years ago when walking became very difficult, we were careful to not commit any crimes. except perhaps jaywalking. Civil disobedience does not include damaging property, threatening or abusive language or actions or leaving piles of trash.

In Mexico, most colleges and Universities require a mental exam with a psychologist as part of the acceptance. School shooting and all this violent protest is not common here at all. But also here, once the police are called to put down a protest, there's not much restraint. I work in a University here and we have alot of security throughout campus, and I'm at a school that does not require a psychological exam, but the curriculum is set that if a student is not in class, they go home. It's nothing like US colleges where students hang out on campus etc.

I think this needs to be reported so it’s clear that if you go to Disney or universal for once in a lifetime holiday and you find out that you are pregnant and something happens to you you could end up dying. As Elizabeth Warren says, strong action needs to be taken about the Israel vs Gaza situation. There is a lot of news coverage about minor disturbances and minor damage on college campuses. Where is the detailed news about thousands of people being killed and starved in Gaza and mass destruction? I realize the Hamas attack on October 7 was horrendous. That is not an excuse for the current situation.
