- Hello everybody, welcome back to our channel. We are back here again at the temple ground to witness the grand ceremony of 108 of spirit medium, in hokkien we call "dang-ki, in chinese we call "乩童" for the 过三关法会。
Which will involve climbing up & down of knives ladder (过刀梯), firewalling (过火路) & boiling oil pot ceremony (过油锅).
We came early today to survey the event ground & witnessing the preparation of the knives ladder blessing with Toaist priest. Setting up of the boiling oil pot & burning of chopped wood & charcoals for the firewalking.
Temple disciples were seen doing their prayers to commence the start of blessing & warding away evil in opening the 1st fire walking ground, follow by the the boiling oil & pasting tailsman & blessing of the knives ladder.
This is one of the unforgettable grand ceremony to witness in person here in SG.
Thereafter many temples from Singapore & Malaysia were also seen registering for their "dang-ki" ( with their temple representative flags & getting their number queue as they await for the deities inviting ceremony (请神) at 5:45PM.
Commencement were kickstart by the hosting temple "dang-ki" & accompany by their 2 "ki-tao" representatives.
For "ki-tao", they were also blessed with the temple tailsman "领符，护身符" to present with them during the firewalling ceremony while accompany their "dang-ki".
Afterwhich the "dang-ki" will get dressed in their attire whom their represent the individual diety where the the rest of the other temples are get into sequence & made their prayers to the Emporer God "天公" where they were guided to the waiting area before they are called upon to enter the cremeony ground sitting on the knives & needles chair"
In total there are 108 of the "dang-ki" representing different deities that took part in this ceremony.
Thereafter one by one of them will climb the knives ladder & head over to the firewalking area where they gracefully march in their steps & the final one will be the biking oil pot where they put their hands into the boiling oil & use towel soaked in the oil & wiping & whipping on their bodies.
Next they will be guided to the cremeony ground where they get their body cleaned by the incense papers wiping away the excess oil & greeting sitted & inviting the deities to leave their bodies.
As the cremeony approaches its finale, devotees whom wishes to also be do the firewalking ceremony, they will have to get the tailsman given by the temple helpers where they made their donations of $38 which will be contributed to the temple funds & after the event they can bring the tailsman back home for home or self blessing & reminded to bring it back next year to get the temple chop for reblessing.
The event all ended smoothly & everything was in sequence & we are so happy to witness it in person.
