I literally cried at the scene where Christine Collins was finally released from the mental hospital where they all accused her to be insane cause of the fact she refused to believe it wasn’t her son. And she broke down when learning that Walter was one of the victims at the chicken farm. A mother always knows. Sad.
There's a part in the movie where Christine locks eyes with a prostitute that gets released from the mental ward under the same code as her, I believe. (It was very easy to write off women as mentally unstable then and to punish them for it). Christine helps to get her and others out and it's one of my favorite parts because they don't speak to each other, there's just a respect there.

The movie based on the story is truly one of the saddest. Angelina Jolie was terrific as Christine & her anguish where she cries “he’s not my son” is gut wrenching. Well done with this story, fellas. I honestly believe that Walter was killed in the Chicken Coop murders
Yeah it’s true that it was sad, but you gotta take the good with the bad, thanks to her speaking up and challenging the police she is a contributing factor to laws that are now in place for why now they can’t just put you in a mental institution. She’s a hero in her own right

Me and my mom talked about this situation. Honestly I know everything about my son. He looks exactly like me. I know all of his quirks. I can’t imagine forgetting any of it. If someone brought me a child that looked a little like him but wasn’t him I’d know immediately. My son would know me. I feel so bad for her and the Anderson woman from the other story of the missing son. I’d be devastated.
Apparently she did know the night of but they forced her to keep him for those three weeks even though she kept showing them proof that he wasn't Walter
She did know but they convinced her to take him home and "try him out" for a couple weeks or something like that. Also Ryan had a point when he said that grief might make a mother try to convince herself that it is her son when it is not. I don't think that happened here but I do feel like that's what happened in the Bobby Dunbar case.
1:50 so we're just going to glaze over the fact that someone thought they spotted Walter wrapped up a newspaper like a fine china in a box labeled fragile?
@@melissasaint3283 I'm laughing so hard at the thought of a little boy just standing there and only a few people notice like wtf why not ask, "hey? Why are you paper macheing yourself?"
It was long prior to DNA testing - they could identify with fingerprints and dental records, but that wouldn’t be enough to solidly identify the victims if the remains were just bones by that point.
walter’s mom: this isnt my boy, the dental records dont match and he dosent act like him jj: no this is def your boy arthur: im not her boy jj: *[suprised pikachu face]*
Gordon’s nephew sanford who he abused and forced to participate also confirmed walter was there on the farm. Some of walter’s belongings were also found on the farm. I have zero doubts him and his mother did it. Sanford said Gordon’s mother caught Gordon abusing Walter and she hatched the murder plan.
I love how this show is ryan doing extensive research on cold cases, putting together the script, and understanding every element of it, while shane just gets to sit there and listen to a story.
I agree. It's really interesting. I can't believe their parents let them go to the beach on their own. I understand things were different at the time, but still.
What they failed to mention is that the mother also proved this new boy wasn't her son because he lacked her sons birthmark on his arm and several people who knew her also knew about the birthmark and corroborated it. Despite this, the police still still she'd lied
besides confession ain't always 100% proof, there was a serial killer named henry lee lucas who claimed responsibility for over 3000 murders but only convicted of 11 of them
I mean in theory some of the boys may have gotten away like the one that turned up alive and we have no idea what went down cause hes a liar but thy hanged him anyways so....it isn't that important...
The fact this case starts out kind of hilarious and then descends into the infamous Wineville Chicken Coop Murders is one of the biggest mood whiplash moments I’ve ever seen.
This was probably the most disturbing case of child abduction I've ever heard, poor Walter was kidnapped and abused emotionally, physically and sexually by Gordon and then was (probably) killed by Gordon's mother. And Gordon's mother was seemingly alright with Gordon abusing and molesting his sister's son, her OWN grandson. No wonder his sister wanted to get away as far away from them as possible. And Christine died with the hope her son was STILL alive somewhere alright. Heartbreaking.
Tell me why I'm watching this and during the whole story I'm like " this story sounds familiar" and when he said Wineville was renamed to Mira Loma, I paused. I LIVE IN MIRA LOMA LMAOOOO.

Shane: Afraid of getting addicted to Heroin, choking on Avocado pit, Ricky Goldsworth and Chicken farms 😂

She knew, but they forced her to take him at least for a couple weeks
She did know but they convinced her to take him home and "try him out" for a couple weeks or something like that. Also Ryan had a point when he said that grief might make a mother try to convince herself that it is her son when it is not. I don't think that happened here but I do feel like that's what happened in the Bobby Dunbar case.

They found three grave pits full of bits and bobs from six boys, knowing the lapd they gave up after that
It was long prior to DNA testing - they could identify with fingerprints and dental records, but that wouldn’t be enough to solidly identify the victims if the remains were just bones by that point.

That’s like the bus driver who recently admitted to raping a 14 year old girl, DIDN’T go to jail, and only paid 375 dollars in fees.
bill of rights says ppl have a right to not self incriminate, so even if there was a confession, they could only prove 3 in court
besides confession ain't always 100% proof, there was a serial killer named henry lee lucas who claimed responsibility for over 3000 murders but only convicted of 11 of them
exacto You have a right to not self incriminate, doesn’t mean you can’t self incriminate.

Police, J.J Jones:
Yes he is, you cold-hearted fool.
