I was someone who was requesting 'How to Practice' lessons. So glad you even considered them, let alone made them. Thank you very much, good sir.

This video is awesome. I’m a new jazz guitar player and lately I’ve been going nuts with how to make the most out of my practice time as I started late.
Cannot express enough how thankful I am for this video!

Excellent discussion, Ben. I really appreciate how organized the 6 sections of practice are, it's excellent.

I've found that when life gets busier my practice leans more towards being project and goal based instead, either for a gig or for a video I'm working towards. But when there's more free time I can spend more time just practicing for the sake of general improvement for its own sake. Do you experience the same thing?

    • @beneunson

Those are great observations, Mats - and yes, I've experienced the exact same thing.

Great stuff. I'm somewhat allergic to regimented practice because I'm a natural, non-professional player. I usually only play something that I'll have a lot of fun with, but I understand that will only take me so far. If I ever muster up the discipline to make a schedule, this will be my first stop.

What brand, type and guage do you use on that guitar. I own the same guitar, bought it based on Ben's review. But I don't get the same sound. Are they Flatwoods or roundwound? Thank you.

2 5 1 progressions are discussed in all 3 editions of How To Practice, but especially in volumes 1 & 2
