One more trivia for you guys.. When Vidya and Rana were talking about his name, he mentioned to her that in Kolkata people have two names. Rana's other name was 'Satyoki'. In Indian mythology, Satyoki is another name for Lord Krishna who was Arjun's (a great warrior's) guide and loyal charioteer in the war of Mahabharata. That gives a much deeper meaning to Rana's character.

Fun Facts: This movie won all the major awards that year ( especially Filmfare) including Best Picture( nominated ), Best Director and Best Actress (Vidya Balan) . This was her second consecutive win for best actress in a row ( prior won from The Dirty Picture) .
But her winning became controversial as People were also vying for Priyanka Chopra to win the best actress trophee for her portrayal of "Jhilmil " in Barfee. Yet another wonderful performance.
That year (2012) was filled with amazing acting performances as Sridevi was also nominated for English Vinglish.
Kahaani won majorly because it was a sleeper hit and majorly no one saw the twist coming towards the end.

On second viewing, apart from all the clues (like her constantly erasing fingerprints, cleaning, avoiding signing aka giving away her real identity), TWO MOMENTS that SCREAM Vidya's inner feeling are:
    1. When Vidya returns to her room and lays on bed and cries, it makes us think she immediately wants to search her husband but in reality she knows that he is not missing but actually gone (which audience does not know at that point).
    2. When Rana says to Vidya in the bus that SHE WILL BE A GREAT MOTHER in that moments she becomes sad. For audience, it seems like she is missing her husband so that he could see her child when born but in reality she gets super sad because her child is gone too and she could NEVER be a mother (audiencedoes not know at that point).
These two moments are so stunning and deep. You only realize the TEUE meaning of these two scenes on second viewing as on first viewings these scenes are used to distract viewers and make them think about what's actually on show and not the hidden reality. Genius.

The 'Bidda' (Bengali accent of Vidya) never fails to make me smile :)
(FYI the Bengalis will pronounce the 'V' sound as 'B' ; any consonant followed by a 'Y' as the same consonant but just with more emphasis; and the 'A' ('UH' not aa) as 'O'; that's why the name Aravind is pronounced 'Orobindo', Ananya will be 'Ononna'. Infact some Bengalis even prefer to write it like that and as a non-Bengali, I find that amusing and low-key cute.
Also the Pujo is celebrated all over India where Bengali communities get together but Kolkata is the OG. Too beautiful nightlife there at that time of the year, had the pleasure of visiting in 2018. Kolkata has a charm which never leaves your heart.

The thrill of the scene where she merges into the crowd and ladies start putting sindoor on her (it’s called sindoor khela if you are wondering) was great
    It signified so much
The whole movie she was finding her husband, and at that time she avenged him
It was like goddess Durga was blessing her
Getting coloured with sindoor after all the trauma of her husband and child’s death and avenging them signifies she will be in peace from now on
It was goosebumps when I watched that scene

There are many well -known Bengali actors in this movie. The guy who plays 'Rana ' is an excellent actor.❤
Another thing, the voice over at very last scene was done by 'Amitabh Bacchan'.
Also, when Mr bob tried to push Vidya you can notice her hand went back to her head looking for something and in the twist scene we can see how she attacked with her kanzashi( hair stick ornament) .

One reason why I like you guys watching and reacting to movies.....you just connect with the emotion and your expression are so real.... especially acharaa ..her emotional connection towards scenes is totally different.... other reactors are there ...who are laughing and doesn't understand the emotions....I saw some other reaction videos of kantara....in the last climax ..that sounds waaaaaaaaaaaa...for us it a sound of goddess guliga...but they just laughing.....if you don't understood about it then take a few times research..and then watch and react...love you achara

Parambrata Chatterjee (Asst Sub-Inspector Satyoki/Rana), Saswata Chatterjee (Bob Biswas), Kharaj Mukherjee (Sub-Inspector Chatterjee),Shantilal Mukherjee (R Shridhar), Riddhi Sen (Poltu Tea Seller), Abir Chatterjee (Major Arup Basu) and Indraneil Sengupta (Milan Damji) are fantastic actors and bigger names in Tollywood/Indian Bengali Language Cinema in India. Over the years they have acted in many wonderful Bengali Films but unfortunately lesser known across Pan India.
