I am from Chicago and live over 1000 miles away from Omaha. The closest I've lived to Omaha is Kansas City. And I was watching this for about 3 minutes before clicking away. You are a natural YTer. Good luck to you! lol
Im sorry to hear about this unfortunate situation, safety is always top priority to new comers and I always encourage people to research neighborhoods and if necessary to speak with law-enforcement for the most up-to-date information. Thank you for sharing your experience.
The friendliness of Omaha/Lincoln is extremely false. People are friendly enough upfront, but it is a VERY family-oriented place, and also very provincial, i.e., whoever you may meet already has enough friends to suit his/her 3-4/hour-a-week socialization schedule. I mean, they're good folks, seriously. But 10/10 boring.
I can agree with this, this a great way to put it, I personally struggled with finding people to make plans with because most of then had plans already(with family). I would say for people who love making friends and constantly have plans, relocating to Omaha can definitely be a big adjustment.
