This is a VW engine and Audis are not durable at all in general. These 1.9 TDIs were durable. However this A4 generation has no space in the rear row so its pretty much useless as a family car. I wonder what is it good for.
My dad had this car as I was 5 years old. He drove the same about 10 years and we sold it with over 300.000km and did nothing out of timing-belt changing and normal service. Everything worked fine on this as we sold it after a crash on the rear bumber. So much emotions and experiences we done. I got my driving licence with 17, so that was my first car. It was an A4, AFN 110 horsepowers I bought from a dealer in Bavaria. After the first B5, I had 7x B5 - 1.9 TDI, 1.8 Turbo, 2.7 Biturbo.. Love this car. I build up my first car in 1:18 model scale and still love it. B5 is different love.

You have A/C and a mighty 1.9 TDI , what more does a driver need. Still more (or equally) economical than modern "mild hybrids". Yes, I m from Balkans.

Really regret letting my 1996 merlin purple A4 b5 1.9tdi go so I've bought another it's a black 1997 1.9tdi, im the 2nd owner with 86.000 from new ! Now I'm happy 👍 fantastic cars .

This car's mileage is over 360,000 kilometres and it's still in pretty good condition. I love the durability of old Audis and unit-injector engines!
The 110hp 1.9 TDI has a distributor injection pump though

You can see that the brand kept a bit of the old Audi's "fingerprint" that was put on b5 even on today's Audis. Timeless design.

SDI has only 67hp. THAT is slow.
Because the 110hp out of the 1.9 TDI AFN engine feel like 150/160 hp of a reg petrol engine. I own it as a quattro. Packs a punch. Believe it or not.
