Welcome back to IELTS channel
In this essay, I will instruct you on how to write one of the most difficult graphs in IELTS as expected. It is MAP.
First of all, we need to know what is Map and what the differences between map and other kinds of graphs.
Map is the kind of graph which mainly focuses on the changes in one location which can be the construction or demolition of facilities or landscape surroundings at the two different period/time. So it is important to separate map into comparative areas which can be easily seen on the map to group similar information to analyze.
Normally, map has 3 kinds of questions:
- 1. Describe a map in present simple tense
- 2. Describe 2 maps: one is in present and one in the future tense.
- 3. Describe 2 maps: one in the past and one in the present.

actually, presenter said we should use present and past simple, and next use "will be...". Illogically. Moreover, "will" means certainty, and here "is/are to be..." more suitable. Isnt it?

i have a query to ask.
will it be good idea to use 3 detail paragraphs instead of 3? for example
one for new additions
another for the structures which were relocated
and the final one to mention the unchanged ones.
how will it affect my band score?

The diagrams illustrate the changes that will be occurring to the school throughout the upcoming 20 years from 2004.
Overall, as it can be seen, one of the biggest reconstructions that will occur in the future is the sports field which will be moved down to the southeast instead of remaining in the northeast, furthermore, there will be a new school building built in the same location the sports field used to be in.
In regard to the school site in 2004, it used to accommodate 600 students at maximum with two school buildings, both of those buildings used to be separated by a path. In the northeast, you could find a large sports field that was surrounded by trees. In the northwest, there was a car park that led to the main entrance for the first school building.
In terms of the school site in 2024, it will be expecting to have 1000 students with the two old school buildings along with a new school building that will be constructed in the northeast right after relocating the sports field down the southeast. Next to the third building school, there will be a new car park to allow students to park their cars after the massive push of admissions going from 600 to 1000, the old two school buildings used to be separated by a long path but in 2024 they will be directly connected to each other.

The two pictorial below illustrates information of a university's sport centre now and after reconstruction.d
In future size of gym extent, and two dance studio created in east direction. Furthermore, sport hall is constructed beside the seating.
To add up, two changing room is added in existing plan, which is located in south east and south west respectively. For providing extra amenties cafe is created before changing room of south east direction. Also, sports shop is created beside south west direction changing room.
Overall, In proposed new plan some new things added, and some existing amenties number improved like changing room. Interestingly, leisure pool is also added to opposite direction of dance studio. However, already builded places locations not changed in suggested plan.

The two maps show the current position of the school layout, in its proposed expansion in the 2024.
Overall, it is clear that the plan is to rescale and relocate the sports field for the construction of new school building to accommodate larger number of students in the next 20 years.
In the year 2004, they can only accommodate 600 pupils with the two building. Between that two old building, you can see the pathway towards to sports field to the main entrance and carpark.
According to the proposal, the most significant development is the construction of the new school building in the demolished sports field, a new and smaller sports field will need to erect. There will be an access road going to the newly built car park from the road and main entrance. The two old building will be connected to each other and will be shorted pathway to the newly built building.

The plans illustrate the layout of a university's sports center in the present and the future. Redevelopment should change the layout of the university with many advanced facilities.
Overall, the plans will completely change the look of a university. Despite that, some facilities from the present layout of a university have stayed the same with a difference in its size.
In present, there is a reception connected with the main hall. The changing room is on the left side of the reception. On the right side of the reception, there are seating facilities. In the middle of these two facilities, there is a 25m pool. Above the 25 m pool and seating place, there is the gym. Outside this hall, on each side, there are outdoor courts.
In the future, there will be a reception with two new facilities: on the left corner is a sports shop and a cafe on the right corner. Following the sports shop, there will be changing room. Above the changing room is a new Leisure pool. Following the cafe, there will be another changing room. There will be two new dancing halls above the changing room on the right side. On the opposite side of the two dance studios, there will be a sports hall. The gym is above the sports hall, in the future it will be upgraded to a bigger size. The facilities of changing room, 25m pool and seating places will stay in the same size and shape.

Can I use declined in map to show smaller size of area
The plans illustrate the layout of a university sport centre in the present and the reconstruction in the future.
Present map details us a main entrance with reception. There are three different rooms : changing room, gym and seating. Meanwhile, in the middle is located the 25m pool. Observing the map on the west and east side there are two outdoor courts.
Future map details us slightly different development. Starting with the main entrance there are two new areas : sports shop and cafe. From sports shop we can enter to changing room connected with the new area: Leisure pool. On the left side of reception we have a second changing room which is connected with 25m pool and around the pool there is gym and seating area. Meanwhile on the left side of reception we have a sports hall across there is a changing room . On the same side with changing room there are two new dance studios.
Sports centere in university will have a significant improvement in the future, that will contribute students who are actively in sports.
