Water Buffalo Racing

The Water Buffalo Racing Festival takes place in tambon Napa, Muang district, Chon Buri province, on July 16, 2017.
It is held annually to preserve tradition and boost unity among farmers.
The festival is held during the start of the rainy season, just before the farmers prepare their paddy fields.
The event also promotes the importance of water buffaloes, as their population has been dwindling.
Farmers now use machinery instead of water buffaloes to plough the fields, as modern farming tools are faster and more efficient.
