Fortaleza Tequila Distillery - 2 Cooks in the Kitchen

The 2 Cooks took a trip to Tequila, Mexico and visited the Fortaleza Tequila distillery for a first hand look at how this craft distillate is produced and packaged. Everything is done by hand using traditional methods handed down through the generations for over 150 years. During our visit we tasted the roasted agave, reminiscent of cooked sweet potato, and saw the hand-made character of every step of the process from piña to bottle.
We ended the day with a private tasting in the Fortaleza caves with Guillermo Sauza, the owner of Fortaleza. This was one of three craft distilleries we visited on our excursion and it was a fantastic experience.
