You're conducting it from a parent's, and modeller's, point of view for pricing, quality, and durability as well as looks and various other things. Trackmaster's new Edward is a vast improvement on the original, mainly in the face area. There really was something wrong with the old one's nose.. Nice review. :)
Yes I'm an adult and theres several other adults commenting here. We are merely making observations we have noticed when they re-tooled for this model. The first new design of this locomotive since 1992.
I have been able to push the wheels down by using some grease, oil and some dye applied on it. it is quite hard to do but once it is applied I used a hammer to mediumly tap it. I fixed the stickers using some fox transfer numerals and lining and painted the running plate white and lamp irons black and then converted him to 4.5 volts When I first got it I gave it a 7/10 because of its CGI face, detatchable tender, smooth drive unit and etched cab roof
To those who say its a faker it is simply not, these new type of Trackmaster Edward ,James and Henry will be the only ones of these 3 engines available soon. I bought it from a reputable ebay seller in the Thomas scene, The locomotive is marked correctly underneath and the box is marked correctly also.
Those raised front wheels probably help make Edward work on the turntable as that the talking edward, the wheels were hitting the rails on the turntable
I doubt it because I did a test going up a trackmaster hill with hit and Fisher price track with all my engines. All of the engines 2014 and older went up with no or minor problems. But tomy edward with real wheels (Lol) kept coming off the tracks.
These things are certainly re-designed from the ones I had growing up. The tender was permanently attached and it didn't run on a AA battery. It ran on a C battery which also went in the tender (which is kinda ironic when you think about it)
I was watching these videos with my 4yr old, so at first I thought you were crazy.....BUT NOW....it's driving me crazy! Almost all of his are "flying trains". LOL
Ah, I have the old Edward but along with Lady (and Oliver is starting to do the same) the bottom part which holds the wheels together came off. I then replaced Edward's wheels with black ones, as I made a custom Railway Series Douglas. Years later the tender snapped off, oh well they are very, very old!
on the tender is a giant sticker on each side and they have placed it slightly skewed (crooked), the older method with tampo printing straight on to the plastic was better.
i,m liking the way fisherprice is packing the engine,s cause when i do reviews it,smuch faster than getting my scissors and cutting the twist ties this is the best idea fisherprice has had ever

yes I understand there is always some risk involved but I have saved allot of money buying online, inflation is through the roof here, the other day I bought 2012 Trackmaster Thomas with Annie and Clarabel and it was $35 from Target. I could have bought 2 engines for that price on ebay.

Hi I have a TOMY one with is 3v converted and an earlier Trackmaster version that has an upgraded motor. yes often the power sellers that sell in large quantities just use a photo that they have on hand to show an item, they usually just send whatever they have/can get in stock.

If you look up on google: "Trackmaster 2 Edward" You would see how does he look like. So just compare the two to eachother. You would see alot of diffrance's between the two. That also does not mean i hate trackmaster 2 or the Fisher Price company. I just don't like how the new model looks like. And i like the older version. And that's just my opinion. Ucwepn I just received the same Edward you have, but it's the complete opposite of yours! Mine runs nicely and quietly, the tender stickers are perfectly aligned, and doesn't have any other problems whatsoever! And mine came in a different package as well so i dont know if the way they made your Edward was a one-time mistake or if the mailman was careless or not.
Ok the good news is i butchered his front wheels off (theres no easy way to detach them) and I glued them so they sit level with the rear most front wheels, Bad news is the drive unit is suspect as it continues to randomly cut out and is really struggling even with a new battery. Will contact the seller as I don't want to cannibalize another engine for this edward.
Hi I agree that the originals were superior in almost every way, no I don't have the new James I have a lovely original TOMY one in great condition though.
If they were to make an r/c version of this th modificatins i would say is that, fix the front wheel and middle wheel to be real, make it go faster, fix the stickers on both sides, paint the whistle gold and get a second one too and improve the build quality. The red running plate is okay to me.

Seller is sending me a new one as this drive unit is faulty (Havenso is a great seller BTW), so I am going to repaint this engine into a different livery and 3v mod with an old james tender as theres no room in this new edward tender for a battery pack. So he will be BR Black with a proper tender decal on oldschool permanent tender with a battery pack inside stay tuned!!
I don't think it's fair to openly berate a manufacturer for wanting to give us a decent model of a locomotive many of us have supported with our own time and money over the years. If the covenators and Trust members that created Thomas are happy with it, I feel you really should be yourself!

2012 was when TrackMaster started to go downhill. I got the Plarail Edward in either 2014 or 2015. The last TrackMaster item I got was Stephen in Christmas 2013.
yes I agree it seems I am being quite petty about sticker placement, they are just one of this trains bad points. The amount of money they charge for these trains where i live i expect better quality. It seems they decided "Oh these are just toys for young kids so it doesn't matter as they wont notice" well somebody DID notice.

I have that trackmaster Edward. I got it in February 2016 when I was 16 years old.
When I was 4 to 8 years old, I remember that I had many Thomas toys and the one I loved the most was Edruard's but I never got it.. 🥺😭😭

Hi well it wasn't easy but I cut the rear pair of wheels from the chassis and reglued them in position so they are level with the front wheels

I have try to fix the front bogey, by melting the plastic holder and re glued the pin on the undercarriage
