Jet Black knocking it out of the park! For that price and features they won’t be able to keep up demand.
I have a Jet Black that I bought 4 years or so ago, never has let me down.... Really good to hear the Victory is setting numbers!
I hope that electronic cassette is compatible with older trainers like volt 1
@@rommelreyes2209 An update for the Volt for electronic shifting will be released shortly.
My volt2 is now 3.5 years old. Only let down so far is that JB keep announcing virtual shifting for the volt, only the firmware update never actually gets released. Last announcement was for september, nothing so far...
Anticipated is right! This is going to turn the market upsode down🎉
All being well we'll get them here in the UK by the end of the month. Very much looking forward to getting mine.
It's been so long since I've shopped for a trainer that I don't even know what a Zwift Cog is, but this looks great, and it's much cheaper than just going for another Tacx like probably would have done. Thanks for the great review!
Happy to see the Victory performing well in the tests, it's making a mockery of the Wahoo unit pricing and particularly the outlandish pricing of Tacx. Really hoping JetBlack can make a major success of this trainer and establish themselves as the benchmark not only for features and performance but also for fairer pricing! I'm sure there will be some Wahoo/Tacx pushback about it doing "only 1800w" and "only 16% inclines", but seriously for anything other than seriously top class riders that is plenty
There he is! Saying its 2% accurate, its pretty darn accurate. Made my order just after the ride with you saturdays. Now hoping they will be able to ship.
Placed my order on 25 september at 449,95EUR + 12,95EUR shipping. Hope to get it soon. Thanks for the review!
@@adamsarkany92 yeah I avoided buying it too when they raised the price, I guess the price now is 499 eur even though they promised 449? Anyway seems like it's not even available for purchase anymore
@@adamsarkany92 huh? It says 449 for me. I originally bought right when it came out and was 499 € and they refunded me 50.
This will totally shake up the pricing of smart trainers (again)! It will be hard for Wahoo & Elite to justify over 2.5X the price for their high-end trainers.
I guess another unknown will be durability over time & support.
Thanks for the great review Shane 👍 Very happy this can be ordered in Australia.
Can’t wait to get my hands on it! Thanks again!
OMG .. thanks for accurate review. After 8 years with another brand I have pre-ordered Victory the middle of September. I hope to receive soon because the weather situation here in Italy is not so good :-P
I have been boxing with non direct drive Bkool Smart PRO 2 since December 2017 and also pre-ordered Victory and anxoiusly waiting here in Poland. No info about delivery for you yet?
@@lainerrr I received the email for refound the 24th of September and they said: The first container of Victories are on the way to us and we will start shipping all preorders around 15th of october.
Jeez. Impressive. If this were any other channel I’d think it was an ad.
Details are in the data. This thing works. I'll say the same things about any other trainer that performs as well as this one..... hopefully the next few through the door are just as good.
@@gplamato be clear I do not think you’re getting paid. I was being genuine.
Yeah :D I love to see GP Lama so excited about something that WORKs and is not just a shiny webpage full of dreams. So far I got 3 items recommended on this channel and there is no regrets whatsoever
Well this trainer is looking every bit as good as you hinted in your Zwift 10 year anniversary ride. I will have to plant the idea in wifey's head that it's time for an upgrade for Christmas...
Good to see an Aussie company leading the charge. Well done JetBlack... Now how about making that fan more adjustable...
I called them just now. First batch is sold out. Second shipment will leave Vietnam 25October and delivery will be December.
Soon as I saw this months back I knew I had to have it. I already had the kickr core, but wanted that 10hz and WiFi. I ended up selling my core for $400 three month ago. Risky, but summer has been good outside and I pre-ordered the Victory. Glad to see I'm justified there. Now the only issue is when do I get my trainer :) Currently US based so I'm oping I get it before it gets TOO cold outside
JetBlack will be sending out an email to those that have repurchased shortly with updated arrival dates...it is on its way. Thanks so much for waiting.
Kinda want my tacx to die so i can justify getting one of these
Edit: fuck it, ordered. Gotta support an Aussie company and can probably flog my tacx on ebay for $400. Shane, you should have a code for your name or something. I'm guessing this review is going to move a lot of units
Ordered my last week… hopefully fast delivery 😊
Waiting for my unit here in EU :)
Can't wait to get rid of Wahoo Kickr that I got with Zwift Ride!
Had the old whisperdrive and it was great for what it was at that time.
Nooooo. I cannot preorder it anymore. I just have to join a waiting list :(( *crying in undecidedness *
*gif of fry offering money*
I made the same mistake assembling mine - the assembly video from Jetblack notes using the other tool which has the shorter allen key with no clearance issues.
Nice one Shane! #itsawinner
Pre ordered before finishing the video, hoping I didn't miss a discount code at the end haha
I am interested to see how it tests with a standard cassette as I’ll be ditching the Zwift cog out of the box. Since moving to Wahoo SYSTM a couple of years back I can’t get myself interested in Zwift anymore.
now we need nordic winter testing, elite has been brilliant putting out connections season after season in sub zero conditions too on the balcony...
That's a shot across the bow. Really wavering atm about what to do about upgrading from the Kickr v4 to a next gen trainer with 10Hz etc. The price drop by Wahoo needs to be permanent and also have a trade-in option as well. This as a specialist Zwift only / Erg option is up there.
Oh, and still love my Assiomas I've had since 2019. Just hoping they bring out a road Pro version with the new spindle, and they can take my money.
I realize that I am probably part of a minuscule few who rides Campagnolo equipped bike. No mention of a Campagnolo compatible free hub here, and before say, "just use the Zwift Cog," those Zwift gear change controllers won't mount onto my bike because they sit right where my thumb lever is on the bike. I wonder if they will have a Campagnolo option in the future? For now, I am happy with my V6 Kickr, but this looks extremely impressive!
Ridiculous I'm considering getting this having bought the Kickr V5 this time last year. I want Zwift Cog compatibility...
Wow amazing what a company can achieve when it isnt trying to completely gouge your eyes out.
Placed my order a while back and got a 50€ refund in the meantime- can’t wait to get mine soon !
Hey Shane, really appreciate the work that you do!
Would you say that this is a solid upgrade from the Elite Zumo?
Yes. The Zumo was also a surprise package at the time, iirc. It's a few years old now though.
Is it compatible with the Wahoo Climr and the like ?
Oh, there's a detail I forgot. No. It doesn't have a full pivoting rear axle.
Came here to ask the same question. Staying with the KICKR 6 in that case, it's a deal breaker for me.
The old jet black unit got very hot and didn’t do well at low rpm in my opinion. How does this unit compare?
There are four detailed data sets I dive into in this video that should answer both of those. I specifically test low cadence ERG too.
5:09 what was that term? Wi-Fi with 'what'? Durkin?
Great review! Been debating between the Neo 2T and Victory… even if price is no object, it sounds like this holds its own?
The 2T was a good unit... but It's five years old now. The Victory even puts the Neo 3M to the sword. Especially on price!
The first delivery of the Victory has already been completely sold out. We expect the next availability at the beginning of December 2024.
EU
This is not good information for people like me who did not pre-order the product only because of the incorrect price of €499 on the website and waited to place the order after the price adjustment, or information regarding whether the trainer will cost €499 as stated on the website, or the advertised €449.
It seems so close to the wahoo version !
It’s $799 in Canada for some reason.
Can this unit can be controlled by a workout loaded on a Garmin Edge and use power from my power pedals?
Anyone have measurements, eg width between the feet? I’m wondering if the Victory will fit on my MP1 rocker plate. Thanks.
Front feet outside to outside: 61.25cm
Rear feet outside to outside: 36cm
Will I be able to use this with Fulgaz or Rouvy? With the Zwift cog.
Looks awesome; since you are testing so far only on the Zwift Cog you are obviously using Virtual Shifting in Zwift; any signs of auto calibration getting skewed?? Especially if you load the trainer HARD in 100% TD and using gears 22-24????..........
Sounds like the current Wahoo/Kickr issue (they're due to release the firmware to resolve any time now). Given it's an entirely different unit, I wouldn't expect it to have the same issue. Although as pointed out deep in the data section - there might be something fuzzing with things by a few watts when switching ERG/SIM/ERG etc.
Wow bought a wahoo kick r core a month ago, too late to return it.
Wi-Fi and USB c....
I started having issues with ant+ after a few weeks. Not sure if it was the dongle or what. I just bought an extension but I haven't tested it yet.
Competition is always needed in a market that is limited for its consumers
If your home WiFi allows you to select channels for 2.4Ghz - Switch it to 1-3 (and away from Ch 10). That can be the cause of ANT+ issues in some environments. Failing that, switching to Bluetooth can also help. A $12 TP-Link UB500 Bluetooth device has been a problem solver here on my HP Omen PC.
as always, very good review. i am using a garmin tacx neobike and I am wondering, is this jetblack victory together with that new zwift bike a superior solution? is there any compelling reason to replace my garmin? im doing around 1200km/month on zwift. Thanks :)
Thanks for a great review but , What about the Zwift Cog and if you have an FTP of more than 250 Watt heard rumors that Zwift themselves don't recommend it for people with high FTP? Do you have any input on this?
I've touched on this topic in my recent video here: th-cam.com/video/43wYwkeqrRA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2EJ2qruZaPcuLh2o&t=857
It's not linked to any specific rumor or FTP.
I use the Cog V1 atm. No issues whatsoever and my ftp is well above that...
@@gplama No but my friend who bought it and is experiencing problems with it sent his numbers for review to Zwift and their response was if we look at your numbers and see you have an FTP of 310 Watts we don't recommend the zwift Cog for you or from 250 Watt up
@@gplama No but my friend who bought it and is experiencing problems with it sent his numbers for review to Zwift and their response was if we look at your numbers and see you have an FTP of 310 Watts we don't recommend the zwift Cog for you or from 250 Watt up
Wow, $400? Now we're talking. really the only reason I have not upgraded from my old conventional fluid trainer to a Smart trainer was the cost. To myself I just could not justify $1,200 for a trainer. Llama fills us in with information again.
Got myself a core for $650 here in Melb, pretty happy with it
That's a good deal on the CORE. I'd have loved to see the CORE v2 (or v3) by now with WiFi!
@@gplama that’ll be just my luck! But I saw bikesonline had a sale on cores including shipping, then went to 99 bikes and got a 5% price beat. That forced my hand considering I’ve got a bolt (v1) and wanted to be able to control the core with it.
What's the advantage of race mode?
Head to head testing/details here: th-cam.com/video/o1YXK95MUmQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wYW26yNVaAxCV1DK&t=638
Still no virtual shifting firmware for the volt2 that was announced in summer for september. Thanks jetblack, I guess...
The JetBlack Team is working on this now and doing testing before release. Should hopefully not be too far away. Thanks for your patience and it is still on the cards.
does ZCoq V2 work with SRAM AXS 12s chains??????
Shimano chains have a roller size of ~7.65mm. SRAM AXS Flattop chains have a roller size ~7.90mm. The COG 14T is made for Shimano chains. Using a SRAM AXS chain on the COG 14T will work, but it's not optimal. It'll likely be lounder and result in premature wear of that chain. Ideally I'd like to see a SRAM AXS specific 13T cog people could choose to properly mesh with those chains.
*13T as SRAM AXS typically have smaller chainrings and a 13T will keep the trainer flywheel in the optimal zone for best ERG performance at 85-100rpm cadence.
So you have to get cadence from a different source, like your bike PM?
It does a pretty good job with cadence estimation/reporting. It's just not quick to respond to changes - That's where you can pair to another cadence sensor if you need to-the-second feedback for cadence.
Good price for an entry level trainer, but 16% gradient simulation is not enough to simulate real life riding if you're anything but a lightweight rider living in a mountainous region. I weigh 82kg, and my Kicker v5 seems to plateau its resistance level once any gradient goes over 14% despite being rated to provide 20% gradient simulation.
Great review as always buzzing to get mine. I am guessing we can use the USB port as a charger for phones etc?
I haven't stuck anything into the USB port as nothing supports it yet. I assume it's data only, no charge.
Does anyone know which fan gplama is using in his indoor setup?
Can this be used with a standard cassette or is that not possible yet?
@@gplama thank you I know it was maybe a silly question but Judy because you mentioned zwift cassette I wanted to check.
Strangely its currently listed as 499€ in the EU shop. It was available for 449 for a few days mid September, when I preordered it.
I suspect they will adjusted when it 'arrives' on 15th October
Yeah... There's some discussion/debate/something happening there. Press release says €449. I was told €449. I put €449 in the video. (To be honest with how this performs, even 499 is a good deal).
Franz, EUR449 is the correct price and we are working right now to rectify this on the website.
@@tonysimmonds9660 does that mean that if I preordered at 499, I will get 50 back?
@@tonysimmonds9660 Do preorders that ordered the trainer at 499€ get a refund of 50€?
@@gplama i know jetblack are saying it should be 449, but it isnt and it´s now well over a week since they said that and it´s still advertised on the page as 499. At that point I think it´s fair to at least mention that there is something going on here, which isnt exactly confidence inspiring for EU customers. I got the refund on my pre-order, which is great, but the situation still is leaving me with not the best feeling, until i get the unit (and hopefully everything is fine)
Excellent to see some more competition in this space and a fantastic and cheap product offering
