I love the sandstone on the dark clay. I haven’t had the nerve to use a dark clay yet. I think the clean up will be a nightmare. I am curious what rod you are using. It doesn’t look like it bent.

@@pammartin7160 thank you! the cleanup is a total nightmare, I probably will stop using it as it gets everywhere. I am not sure what size the rod is but I got it from a pottery supply store and it’s worked great for firing ornaments, I’ve used it multiple times now. It’s more of a heavy duty type rod for the kiln.

@ 😂😂 it is really pretty but it’s gotta be the only clay you use cause it’s a definite pain

@@ginafeddersen8200 for the sandstone I believe I did 2 coats. I probably should have gone for 3 but it turned out ok :)

My gosh I love the satin patina with pearl white on the speckled clay! I want to use specked clay soo badly but I’ve heard so many have issues with it too. Omg the sandstone on the coffee clay is STUNNING!!!! If you tried fixing the crack with something like paper clay or bisque fix you have to fire it in bisque again then glaze it but that’s gorgeous too. Your ornaments are awesome. May I ask what kind of bar they were on? That’s one hefty bar!! I’m so sorry those refutes didn’t work! How odd. I’d love to know the glaze combo though. That does look like some bloating on the dark clay at the end. Do you use cones to check your exact temp? They shouldn’t be from air bubbles. Be sure to get some cones on each shelf and see what the temps getting to since you had several problems with pieces on the bottom. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I absolutely love your work. ❤❤❤

@@micheledickey4066 the retired cups are peppered plum, and sea salt I believe, the combo is nice but I don’t think it meshes with the clay, it might like a smooth base, that’s my thought. And thank you about the ornaments! As for the bar, I’m not even sure what it is as it was gifted to me, I can’t try and find it and let you know but it is just a heavy duty bar meant for heavier pieces, that’s all I know lol. And I do use comes but not with every fire. But I will be trying a drop hold in the next glaze firing to try and see if it helps with some of the issues I have. And thank you for commenting on my work, I appreciate it ❤️
