So lore time: So Kanako (Goddess from the 'outside (aka our) world', big bad of the last game, and thus setter in motion the next 5 games) wants electricity for her shrine. Thus she seeks out a particular 'empty headed' hell raven named Utsuho 'Okuu' Reiuji. She tells her to fuse with the sun god 'yatagaratsu' in order to give her to power to 'fullful the wishes of both the underground and the world above. Okuu, being dumb and maybe mad with power, takes this to mean 'Burn down everything. Okuu's best friend Rin 'Orin' Kaenbyou sees this a bad thing and sets off a major geyser that alerts our Heroes. The heroes come, beat up everything in thier way, knock some sense into okuu and thus we are denied 'Fallout: Gensokyo'. In subsequent appearances Okuu seems to be more closer to Homer Simpson than a psycho pyromaniac even in fan works which usually flanderize the characters for funy.

Wasn't it also meant to be a way to get people to the Moriya Shrine by reactivating Youkai Mountain's dormant core (it's a dead volcano), restarting the geothermal energy, and making hot springs? The geysers were a product of this.
Funny enough, I think Okuu wanting to burn the surface world down was basically her idea of "terraforming" it into something she couldn't comprehend others would have too much problem with. She's hanging out in a blazing inferno just fine, as do all her friends, so why wouldn't everyone else?
Okuu is the perfect champion for chaos undivided, tzeench: bird wielding cosmic flames, khorne: mad with blind desire for destruction, nurgle: radiation poisoning and cancer, slaenesh: canonically has a third leg
As for individual champs Khrone: Mokou (blind desire to kill an immortal (though recently she seems to have 'cooled off' of that) Nurgle: Medicine (desire to poison everything) Tzeench: Yukari (all according to keikaku) Slaanesh: Yumma (she's all about excess and gluttony)

Hi, this is me analyzing and explaining the lyrics for those who do not know the character story of Reiuji "Okuu" Utsuho. She's one of Satori Komeiji's pets and a Hell raven who has lived in the underground world since before it was separated from Hell. Her job is to regulate the flames of the Hell of Blazing Fires. All of what I write is taken from the official Touhou english wiki, as well as a bit of fan material since much Touhou popularity is generated from fan content, thus character interpretations tend to fluctuate wildly depending on where you look. A voice in the dark whispers Promises I yearn Devouring great powers I need not to discern This tells how Utsuho met the god of wind and rain, Yasaka Kanako. A previous character in the series who was responsible for events of the last incident prior to the one caused by Utsuho herself. Kanako desires to be worshiped by the people of Gensokyo as it is what sustains her, to that end she devised a plan to bring electricity to the people by way of nuclear power and transform herself into a "god of technology". Finding Utsuho, she played to her desires in exchange for her assistance. Kanako gave Utsuho her power by letting her eat the corpse of the god of the sun, Yatagarasu, the three-legged crow. As the duller the holder of its power, the better the holder can use it, making Utsuho the perfect host. None shall deny me of All that I deserve Now I am become death Destroyer of worlds Upon her transformation, Utsuho immediately went mad with power. She misunderstood Kanako intentions of bringing prosperity to both the underworld and the surface and made it her mission to take over Gensokyo by burning it all with literal nuclear hellfire. How crazy she went depends on how you view it, either very little because it was all because of the misunderstanding that led to over eagerness, or she literally went laughing madly. Considering the reference J. Robert Oppenheimer famous quote, it's very much obvious that the song interprets the events as going genocidal. While the claim of gods trembling at her might just be a boisterous talk for someone who just gone mad, she did just turn into one of the most powerful beings in Gensokyo overnight, and is most definitely a major threat where she to go on a rampage. which she almost did had Reimu and Marisa not stopped her in time. Though I live in ignorance Power's in my grasp The atoms split themselves The moment I command And while I may never be Able to understand It matters not in the end They'll give in to my demand Saying Utsuho is very not smart is a vast understatement, she is horribly naïve and can be easily manipulated, how dumb she is tends to fluctuate but most fans tend to say "very". That said, being a "smrt grrl" hardly matters when you can blow away anyone you don't like into smoldering ash pile. Also, she manages a nuclear reactor in the pits of hell (the same place where you fight her), which would require extensive knowledge on nuclear science for it to run so she's not as dumb as one would think. Foolish is it to oppose The dream of the sun Let his brightness engulf you And let his will be done Through fusion and fission His light you can't outrun feel his warmth though your skin and bones The end has just begun The person Utsuho is referring to is likely Yatagarasu, as she praises him for the power she gained from his corpse in the game before you fight her. Technically speaking, her own body has become a living shrine devoted to worshiping Yatagarasu, with the big eye on her chest serving as proof of his power, along with his three legs. The right leg of fusion being the Chernobyl elephant's foot, the left leg of fission represented as electrons, and the "third" leg being the control rod on her right arm (note that she can take these off whenever she wants to, so she not stuck with a slab of molten concrete as a shoe forever). *repeat chorus BURN BURN To dark matter Everything returns Let me show you a wonderous sight THE AWSOME SPLENDOR OF LIGHT EVERYTHING BURNS! To put is simply, if you decide fight Reiuji Utsuho , Scorching, Troublesome Divine Flame, you are quite literally pitting yourself against the power of the sun shaped like a human girl, wings caped in the splendor of the cosmos itself. It's too bad she had to fight Reimu, who absolutely does not give a shit about who you are.

@@Sorain1 Raimu's power isn't to fly away its to float. Its not just flying but to float through life itself. Its essentially the more Reimu goes with the flow the higher her chances to win are. This also allows her to 'float' out of reality while still attacking.

Normally, Utsuho Reiuji wouldn't be out of place in a Lovecraftian story. Devours the corpse of a dead god, sprouts an extra body part and "deformity" (the eye, the symbolic "third leg", and the Elephant's Foot), goes nuts and nearly causes a whole lot of death and destruction. In Touhou, she's waifu.

I love the direction taken with this song. Compared to Kobito of The Shining Needle and Shinmyoumaru, which was an emphasis on an almost poetic tragedy of a princess meaning good being dragged through not-so-repubatle methods of returning what was once her people's, Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom is, by all means, a song for a BBEG. It has all the pieces for a powerful opponent who means no good, with it's deep and hard hitting opening notes descending downwards, and the various pieces accompanying it that I am not at all qualified to talk about (I'm just here to explain why the lyrics fit the song). Basically, Okuu is accepting every aspect of being the typical villain for this: she wants to absolutely seer the world, turn it all to ash, and use her nuclear fusion powers to their limit. This is, admittedly, due to some manipulation from a rather pushy Goddess from a certain rival shrine, but the ultimate goal was to, indeed, have Okuu make use of her powers, but not to this degree. Overall, amazing song and delivery, keep up the good work, can't wait for PCB or even a song like Faith is For The Transient People, I think that song would be a bit of fun for y'all to make lyrics for and to express Sanae's character.

Basically she is a hell's raven who ate the sun's god. It's power should have overtook her consciousness but she is like really stupid to the point of an ogryn so she kept her sanity and gained the ability to control the power of nuclear fusion.

Just noticed this song earlier today after revisiting your "Scarlet Sky" song. Glad to have done so, as I've been listening to it repeatedly throughout the day. Another neat Utsuho cover to add to my play list. I also like how the lyrics reference the Manhattan Project with quote of "now I've become death, destroyer of worlds." Really cool line in the a vocal cover for Utsuho's theme, one which I looking back, I'm kind of surprised I haven't heard that used in a vocal cover until now.
She is such a mood, and this is not a joke. I have Thalassophobia, I saw the Sun, Fire, and Nuclear as my Saviour from the dark, wet, unwanted blight that is the Ocean. Starting to hum along to this while out grocery shopping was sure an interesting experience. Would hazard a guess that reciting some lyrics would have probably raised a few eyebrows, at the very least, when I'd have gotten to the "Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds" part. this ones actually pretty simple, a hell raven got hypnotised into eating the yatagarasu(its not clear if this is literally eating him or just in a figurative absorbed his power way), emissary of the god of the sun, thus gaining power over nuclear fusion, however shes also dumb as a sack of rocks so she kind of went crazy from this and wanted to nuke the world, the protagonists go to beat her up, and she calms down, now she powers a hotspring(the original plan by the one who hypnotised her was to use her to bring electricity to the magic area of gensokyo but uh turns out thats kind of pointless when theres like 2 people who own electronics)

DM for a campaign we ran since level 1 (we were lvl 7 at this point) played this as my characters “theme” song as we went to town on one of his BBEGs. My character was funneling this nuclear star like energy from his patron and being a fighter/warlock allowed him to go berserk and the DM just made everything feel badass, everyone still had a blast tho.

Hi, this is me analyzing and explaining the lyrics for those who do not know the character story of Reiuji "Okuu" Utsuho. She's one of Satori Komeiji's pets and a Hell raven who has lived in the underground world since before it was separated from Hell. Her job is to regulate the flames of the Hell of Blazing Fires. All of what I write is taken from the official Touhou english wiki, as well as a bit of fan material since much Touhou popularity is generated from fan content, thus character interpretations tend to fluctuate wildly depending on where you look.

This tells how Utsuho met the god of wind and rain, Yasaka Kanako. A previous character in the series who was responsible for events of the last incident prior to the one caused by Utsuho herself. Kanako desires to be worshiped by the people of Gensokyo as it is what sustains her, to that end she devised a plan to bring electricity to the people by way of nuclear power and transform herself into a "god of technology". Finding Utsuho, she played to her desires in exchange for her assistance. Kanako gave Utsuho her power by letting her eat the corpse of the god of the sun, Yatagarasu, the three-legged crow. As the duller the holder of its power, the better the holder can use it, making Utsuho the perfect host.

Upon her transformation, Utsuho immediately went mad with power. She misunderstood Kanako intentions of bringing prosperity to both the underworld and the surface and made it her mission to take over Gensokyo by burning it all with literal nuclear hellfire. How crazy she went depends on how you view it, either very little because it was all because of the misunderstanding that led to over eagerness, or she literally went laughing madly. Considering the reference J. Robert Oppenheimer famous quote, it's very much obvious that the song interprets the events as going genocidal.

Now that she has the power of a sun god coursing through her, Utsuho can use powerful fire attacks, shoot giant beams of plasma from her arm cannon/control rod, and even create entire mini suns to throw at her enemies, going so far as to create a gravitational pull with them. While the claim of gods trembling at her might just be a boisterous talk for someone who just gone mad, she did just turn into one of the most powerful beings in Gensokyo overnight, and is most definitely a major threat where she to go on a rampage. which she almost did had Reimu and Marisa not stopped her in time.

Saying Utsuho is very not smart is a vast understatement, she is horribly naïve and can be easily manipulated, how dumb she is tends to fluctuate but most fans tend to say "very". That said, being a "smrt grrl" hardly matters when you can blow away anyone you don't like into smoldering ash pile. Also, she manages a nuclear reactor in the pits of hell (the same place where you fight her), which would require extensive knowledge on nuclear science for it to run so she's not as dumb as one would think.

The person Utsuho is referring to is likely Yatagarasu, as she praises him for the power she gained from his corpse in the game before you fight her. Technically speaking, her own body has become a living shrine devoted to worshiping Yatagarasu, with the big eye on her chest serving as proof of his power, along with his three legs. The right leg of fusion being the Chernobyl elephant's foot, the left leg of fission represented as electrons, and the "third" leg being the control rod on her right arm (note that she can take these off whenever she wants to, so she not stuck with a slab of molten concrete as a shoe forever).

The powers she is able to manifest can rival that of the actual sun's heat, so she comparing herself to that of a "black sun" is no exaggeration. To put is simply, if you decide fight Reiuji Utsuho , Scorching, Troublesome Divine Flame, you are quite literally pitting yourself against the power of the sun shaped like a human girl, wings caped in the splendor of the cosmos itself. It's too bad she had to fight Reimu, who absolutely does not give a shit about who you are.
Me here thinking this was some weird adaptation of MLP Nightmare Moon harnessing the power of nuclear bombs.

@@Sorain1 Raimu's power isn't to fly away its to float. Its not just flying but to float through life itself. Its essentially the more Reimu goes with the flow the higher her chances to win are. This also allows her to 'float' out of reality while still attacking.

I love the direction taken with this song. Compared to Kobito of The Shining Needle and Shinmyoumaru, which was an emphasis on an almost poetic tragedy of a princess meaning good being dragged through not-so-repubatle methods of returning what was once her people's, Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom is, by all means, a song for a BBEG. It has all the pieces for a powerful opponent who means no good, with it's deep and hard hitting opening notes descending downwards, and the various pieces accompanying it that I am not at all qualified to talk about (I'm just here to explain why the lyrics fit the song). Basically, Okuu is accepting every aspect of being the typical villain for this: she wants to absolutely seer the world, turn it all to ash, and use her nuclear fusion powers to their limit. This is, admittedly, due to some manipulation from a rather pushy Goddess from a certain rival shrine, but the ultimate goal was to, indeed, have Okuu make use of her powers, but not to this degree.
Overall, amazing song and delivery, keep up the good work, can't wait for PCB or even a song like Faith is For The Transient People, I think that song would be a bit of fun for y'all to make lyrics for and to express Sanae's character.

Just noticed this song earlier today after revisiting your "Scarlet Sky" song. Glad to have done so, as I've been listening to it repeatedly throughout the day. Another neat Utsuho cover to add to my play list.
I also like how the lyrics reference the Manhattan Project with quote of "now I've become death, destroyer of worlds." Really cool line in the a vocal cover for Utsuho's theme, one which I looking back, I'm kind of surprised I haven't heard that used in a vocal cover until now.

She is such a mood, and this is not a joke. I have Thalassophobia, I saw the Sun, Fire, and Nuclear as my Saviour from the dark, wet, unwanted blight that is the Ocean. Starting to hum along to this while out grocery shopping was sure an interesting experience. Would hazard a guess that reciting some lyrics would have probably raised a few eyebrows, at the very least, when I'd have gotten to the "Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds" part. Then again, it would certainly add a bit of dramatic flare to the trip, which I am always quick to approve. this ones actually pretty simple, a hell raven got hypnotised into eating the yatagarasu(its not clear if this is literally eating him or just in a figurative absorbed his power way), emissary of the god of the sun, thus gaining power over nuclear fusion, however shes also dumb as a sack of rocks so she kind of went crazy from this and wanted to nuke the world, the protagonists go to beat her up, and she calms down, now she powers a hotspring(the original plan by the one who hypnotised her was to use her to bring electricity to the magic area of gensokyo but uh turns out thats kind of pointless when theres like 2 people who own electronics)

DM for a campaign we ran since level 1 (we were lvl 7 at this point) played this as my characters “theme” song as we went to town on one of his BBEGs. My character was funneling this nuclear star like energy from his patron and being a fighter/warlock allowed him to go berserk and the DM just made everything feel badass, everyone still had a blast tho.
