I worked at my first job in LTC. I left after 3 months. I worked hard and fast but not when it came to tasks relating to the actual residents themselves. You’re very on spot about the cliques. I mostly was with those who wanted to cut corners and have more time to sit. I mean very important ‘corner cutting’. Things I couldn’t in good conscience go along with. So, bc I would take the extra moments to do the tasks that were being avoided or looked over, my coworkers saw me as a burden to work with. So, I left.
I understand what you mean when you slow it down to provide care for the residents, go their pace to meet their needs and make sure they feel respected and treated with dignity. Nothing enrages a corner cutter more than this. I think they are afraid the standard of care will be implemented and their comfort will be compromised so they bully the good workers. If everyone worked like you, a days work would be manageable for everyone. Thanks for watching and for your insight.
That's how I'm feeling right now. I want to be fast but I prefer to give quality care than rushing. With that being said i feel like I'm too slow for this job..ltc. I really want to work in ltc but I need help with time management..any advice/videos..please let me know. Thank you.
