    Hi Cheryl! Not sure if that is the correct spelling but I just wanted to thank you for ALL of your videos. I hope when I grow up :) that I'll be as much as an inspiration to those new to sewing as you have been for me. Again, thank you for sharing your experience with the world.

    Awesome tutorial. I'm making one as I'm writing this. I've also made the Cardinal Bird pot holder and I gave that one to my daughter in law as a Christmas gift.

    Hello Sherrill, followed along with you while making this potholder. It turned out beautifully. My question is can this potholder made round? I would like to give as Christmas gifts and having the two would make a wonderful gift. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of your viewers. Must say seeing your husband support your craft is wonderful to watch. Another great tutorial!

    Thanks for showing the yellow sticky notes. When I was trimming, the squares got smaller cause they didn't seem to line up correctly.

    I am new to sewing, These instructions are easy to follow and she has such a soothing voice, I enjoy listening to her. I do have a question tho. What is the name of the square ruler she is using? I would like to get one

    • @AnitaSouthall
      @AnitaSouthall 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually first best roller to use is one either 8 by 24 inch or 6 and a half by 24 inch, just try yoir local quilting store or look up creative grids who make rulers. Many brands and sizes available out there. I have 4 different rulers now which have all helped my accuracy

    What do you do with all your fabric remnents

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Cynthia. I use some pieces in other projects, or it gets tossed into my scrap box. I also give some to friends. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

    Great explanations! Will a basic pressure foot sew through all the layers; or is a walking foot needed?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you use a standard presser foot, you will probably get pin tuck in your fabric, and or the fabric will probably stretch. A walking foot helps to evenly feed the different fabric layers so this will not happen. You can get a walking foot at a sewing machine dealer store, or go to sewingmachinepartsonline.com. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

    I used 8 inch fabric squares, when I turned them they turned out fairly small. I now think the 8 and a half inch will work better. Plus I quilted first to the batting, seems to have shrunk the size down. It's a work in progress.

    I made the pot holders using 2 layers of cotton batting. Today I used the pot holders and I almost got burnt! I can feel the heat. Should I use 3 layers of cotton batting? help!

    • @AnitaSouthall
      @AnitaSouthall 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have bought the insulbrite and it works better in tandem with the batting

    • @dianegaus3561
      @dianegaus3561 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't think 1 batting and 1 insul-brite was enough, either.
