  • The Phoenix Learning Xchange (PLX) is an interactive, multidisciplinary, non-credit certificate program for professionals in child welfare and connected systems. PLX is a dynamic collaboration between the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW) and the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The collaboration aims to improve high quality service provision while increasing positive relationships between youth involved in the State’s social service systems and the professionals and providers who support them.
The PLX certificate program incorporates face to face classroom instruction and discussion with online supplemental coursework and practice consultation to guide the learning experience. Completion of this certificate program will provide learners with knowledge, skills, practice opportunities and a supportive multidisciplinary community in which to learn and collaborate. Learners will develop a deeper understanding of adolescent development, issues and challenges facing youth in systems, and increasing positive engagement and supportive relationships between youth and the people who serve them.
The start of the 2023-2024 training year is quickly approaching and we are excited! The Twin Cities hybrid cohort is already in session and we look forward to the January start for our Virtual cohort!

“I enjoyed getting to know other workers in this field and it broadened my understanding of the different roles that come together to support our communities. I liked that this course was all encompassing - it really focused on the intersections of systems.”

“Studying and reflecting on the topics addressed by the PLX program more intentionally and systematically than I had done before gave me additional tools and resources and enhanced my skill set in working with young people, I believe. I have slowed down, become more intentional in my relationship-building, and have felt more relaxed in my work interactions with young people.”

“I also feel more confident in my work and interacting with the young people I meet.”
