Love this video. It's a real tear jerker. I remember seeing Michael for the first time with Robert Ryan on Playhouse 90 or the Alcoa Theatre. After that I was hooked. Then, in the Summer of 1958, a full page spread appeared in the newspaper with the new Fall shows and there it was 'in living color', LOL, BONANZA across from RIVERBOAT with Darren McGavin and Burt Reynolds, RIVERBOAT sunk and BONANZA'S Ponderosa was born with the Cartwright family's roots deep in Nevada's soil. I would later have the privilege to write the online biography for the 'Michael Landon International Internet Fan Club' in 1995. To Bonanza and the Cartwright Clan, Ben, Adam, Hoss, Little Joe and Hop Sing...Forever!
Thank you for commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed this and thanks for sharing your memories. Yes, Bonanza, Ben, Adam, Hoss, Little Joe and Hop Sing Forever!!!! :)
This was excellent, very well done. Pernell once told me (we were lifelong friends) that he was somewhat envious of the relationship that Lorne and Micheal and though this video was their characters, you can see the bond that these two men had, both onscreen and off.. Very well done Frances.
What a lovely tribute. I hadn't watched this show since I was a kid and finally decided to buy it. Now that I'm older, I've got a new appreciation of the characters. It's better than I remembered. Thanks for sharing!
I love Joe and Pa moments. It's kind of cute, that Joe's relationship never changes with his father, even in laater seasons; he's still a little boy inside that needs his Daddy.
+Fran Robinson Yes, but it's kind of odd that they never really grew up. I mean, seriously none of them ever got married? Well, Ben had been married enough, lol. But I mean Adam and Hoss and even Little Joe. He didn't need to stay little forever. All them were old enough to have gotten married. They could have stayed on the show - they just needed to settle on the Ponderosa, it was certainly big enough. That's what seems the silliest about the show (except of course that no way would they always have lived through that many gunfights like they do.)
Nice job! I'm fairly new at making Bonanza vids, myself, but not a new fan. So glad to see other fans enjoying making music vids, as well, I don't write fanfic, but try to make stories with my vids, as you do! Congrats on a super vid!
+BonanzaandTheCartwrights4ever Thank you so much. Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope yo continue to enjoy them. This show is truly an amazing one. Shame it ended so soon!
0:30 is from Between Heaven & Earth, when Joe wakes up screaming from a nightmare of falling off a cliff; 1:40 is from The Quest, when Joe is struggling to finish a job he set out to do, and feels he has no one to turn to for help: 2:19 is from the heart-wrenching Season 14 episode Forever Part 2, when Joe's wife and unborn child a tragically killed; 2:23 is from Stillness Within when Joe is blinded in an explosion. All of them are great episodes, well worth watching, but Forever will make you cry. It was the first episode to take place after the loss of Dan Blocker, which makes it even more emotional.
+kataisa3 Not really. Michael Landon reused a lot themes from Bonanza in his series, just made himself the hero/father rather than Lorne Greene. Even some of the themes in Little House episodes themselves were repeated seasons later. (I watched the whole series growing up, I should know.) There's more than the stories. Some of the music is the same or very similar, and I swear in one episode I could hear the soundtrack that would always play near the schoolhouse on Little House.
It is from the episode 'Tall Stranger' Season 3. Pa asked Hoss is he had asked the girl he was interested in, to marry him yet, and when Hoss said no, Pa said he had a good mind to ask her himself (meaning on Hoss' behalf.) Hoss cheekily replied "I don't think she'd have you, Pa". That's when Joe cracked up laughing and Pa pretended to hit Hoss.
Anyone know what Ep was @ 1:29 and @ 2:59? Also, there is an Ep where Joe is dancing with a Paiute girl at a mining camp? Anyone know the name of that Episode? Thanks much!
Hi Svnoi. 1:29 is from the episode Between Heaven and Earth, and 2:59 is from The Last Haircut. They are both very good episodes. The Ep of Joe dancing with the Paiute girl is called Henry of the Comstock, Season one. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Thank you. I thought the song suited the beautiful relationship between Ben and Little Joe. It's a great show. Thank you for commenting.

+Ruth Darsey I think Little Joe got married for a little while.
Yes Joe got married in episode 1 of season 14. And unmarried in episode 2 of Season 14! Typical!!! ;)
Good Memories, Franstine! Very touching! Thank to sharing with us....

I loved the video!! any idea what scene 33 is from?
What episodes are 0:30, 1:40, 2:19, and 2:23 from in this clip?
0:30 is from Between Heaven & Earth, when Joe wakes up screaming from a nightmare of falling off a cliff; 1:40 is from The Quest, when Joe is struggling to finish a job he set out to do, and feels he has no one to turn to for help: 2:19 is from the heart-wrenching Season 14 episode Forever Part 2, when Joe's wife and unborn child a tragically killed; 2:23 is from Stillness Within when Joe is blinded in an explosion. What episode is 2:24? Where Joe and Ben are hugging
Noah Fricke
It is from Stillness Within, when Joe is blinded in an accident. I love that episode.
Franstine Lastson +Noah Fricke It's interesting that many episodes from Little House on the Prairie mirror episodes from Bonanza.
+kataisa3 Not really. Michael Landon reused a lot themes from Bonanza in his series, just made himself the hero/father rather than Lorne Greene. Even some of the themes in Little House episodes themselves were repeated seasons later. (I watched the whole series growing up, I should know.)

I wonder what's the name of the episode (2,06) when Ben was about to "slap" Hoss in a funny way.
*headdesk* sorry, I meant 2:46.
Which is that one from?
That is from Episode Marie, My Love, Season 4. Thanks for watching.

Kaitlin Klose

Franstine Lastson I meant 2:20 what episode and season is that from
Bethany Lemieux
2:20 is from Forever Part 2. It is a really sad episode. Written at the time of Mr Dan Blocker's death.
