Great video - thank you for poinying out that not to do trends if you wouldn't wear them. It sounds obvious, but we've all been there!
I use trends to know if something I've been after may be easier to find. I dont wear black, but go for navy instead, so I'm always happy when navy is on trend. The same goes for blues and red, I always have pops of red in my wardrobe. I have a reversible, large check double faced coat, and I recently found a scarf (also reversible) in the same colours but smaller check, so I can get a scarf coat look, but with versatility.
On the flip side - anything oversized is not for me, it makes me look like im playing dress up!
I feel the same way about brown! I'm so happy it's on trend right now because I love it.

I love your thoughtful interpretation of fall trends and how to be particular about what may or may not work for one's personal style. I buy mostly second hand/thrift but will buy new sometimes. I tend to look to trends for colors or textures that become available each year, but are pieces that can be timeless. I would love to add faux leather trousers to my wardrobe and something RED. I am loving the true red that is popping up this fall. (...it's not too orangey or blue). Thank you for your insights and style inspiration!

Thank you! I love your videos! I am wanting to buy a pair of loafers. I can't decide between a smooth black leather penny loafer style or a black croc penny loafer. The ones I am looking at are from Flattered and Banana Republic. What are your thoughts? Thank you.
If you don't already have a pair of loafers then I would go for the plain classic penny loafer over a black croc pair. Once you get to grips with how much you wear the plain ones, then you can branch out into more 'interesting' styles. But I would always start off with the more classic pair as I think they would also be more versatile. Hope that helps xx

The thing with trends is that it predicts what we will see in stores. Like a heads up - here comes something you like!
Now that I have a collection of high-quality (100% wool or wool/cashmere, breathable lining) winter coats in most of my neutrals, I will indulge in a coat with a subtle check. The problem with patterned coats is that they can look like too much unless worn over a block-color (solid-colors here in the US) outfit. I love all classic patterns, but mostly limit them to my separates or dresses.
Completely agree, once you have your neutral bases sorted then you can branch out into other patterns :)
