Criminal this tune wasn’t a massive hit. An ex girlfriend introduced me to love and money in 1990. 34 years later this tune still sounds as good if not better.
I absolutely love this song! When we talk about favourite songs, music, etc. and I name this, sometimes people look at me like I come from another planet!
Same with me! Brilliant song. Love Halleluiah Man and Strange kind of Love from them also. The Blue Nile tracks, Downtown Lights and Headlights on the Parade are also awesome tunes from a bygone era!
After hearing this album I wrote to the band asking if they had any plans to tour Australia. I got a reply from James Grant which shocked me but what he wrote shocked me even more. He said the band was battling to get a gig at the local pubs let alone touring anywhere. ??? Poor management or what. These guys should have been huge.
Jocelyn Square, Halleluiah Man and Strange Kind of Love from Love And Money represents the pinnacle of my music experience of more than 40 years listening (loving) music. Top Quality in every aspect, composition, arrangements, playing performance, rythm, great recording and mixdown, the voice of James Grant so clear, so tuned, so perfect... the most inspired guitar solos are here too. Every sound selected is pure genius like the snare drum and or the bass drum ... this stopped to seems strange to me when i realized that Jeff Porcaro played the drums. Halleluiah Man is one of the all time best albums ever. Love and Money is one of the most underrated bands in the music history. Cheers.-
it took me 30 years to find this song I remember it in 1989 nobody else remember it what a brilliant song its a pity the band were so underrated the song is as good as i remember
I bought the album when it was released. Nothing musically for me has come close ever since. Its like a the peak of a mountain nothing can match... Play it at least twice a week 😁
I love how the chorus is set up with the earlier line "Still think about you/ but only really when it rains". And I don't think it's going too far to say that this is, top to bottom, one of the greatest, most solid albums of all time. Transcendent.
An absolute pleasure to listen to to this very day , a Stellar album that deserves classic status .. the world missed out as did these guys RIP Bobbie Patterson
@davidsimpson8192 Bobbie Patterson died? He must've been quiet young. So sad....such a talent- well, such a talented band. I still listen to them now - with undimished enjoyment and inspiration - and I'm 74!
I loved every track on this album and still do! They make my all-time top 10! James' voices is stunning! Their lyrics are poetry to me and they inspired me to write my own poetry and that lead guitar just sublime.
Oh MGD , i was in New Zealand when I first heard Hallelujah Man and I was hooked and bought the album/cassette, and listen to it to this day. I love avalanche, such an amazing album and such an under appreciated band. If you read this James , It still is the music that gets to my heart.I played in the car in and my girls will always remember " shes like a mermaid , stuck in the dungeon of a sunken ship" xxx
Sensational band - Strange Kind of Love is an album which transcends expectations of what good music and talent are all about. Timeless brilliance where each song and musicality grab you by the roots of your senses and takes you to the house of sheer excellence. If I’m ever asked to go on “Desert Islands Discs” ( unlikely)’ I’m taking 2 copies of this in case I break one!
Love the lyrics to this song. A tale of loss. “The worst thing that could happen is the answer to his prayers” because the relationship could never work. Sublime lyrics, superb guitar. An exceptional track.
well hooray for Love and Money, I love them !!!!! Reminds me of the late 80's living in Brighton without a care in the world !!!!!!!!!! Those were the days eh? I love Love and Money........... I say play on foreva!!!!!!!! What beautiful words to go with a beautiful voice...... Need I say any more lisa now in Bournemouth
THIS Album is Simply AS GOOD AS IT GETS it Was it is and WILL Always be FOREVER Unsurpassed as THE BEST MUSIC AND THE BEST TIME OF OUR LIVES . Memories never to be repeated . Still lifting my Heart each time I hear any track of this Masterpiece .
When hallelujah man came out a goth chick at a record store back in 1987 said I should buy the whole cd. I’m glad I did. Fantastic album takes me back to my university days. Melbourne Australia.
I lit my last cigarette at the end of 1989, I was inspired by this wonderful song. Grant's voice is amazing. I never smoked again. Thank you Love and Money!!
I ordered the CD from Europe after having found a cassette for a dime at a Chicago yard sale! Loved the deep well thought out Lyrics, Can't find the CD after having moved to Las Vegas. Thankfully it is Available on line, Glad to hear others who know Quality Music! Have a Great Day, Everyone.
Remember hearing this song in the 80s but didnt know who sang it and always wanted to find out. By pure chance this week I heard it again and found out who sang it. The song is pure class
...prophetic lyrics to my life.. I knew at the time and regret to sat it came true... 20 years of pain - it never goes, just sleeps beneath the surface...
Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember seeing this video played originally on TV. A fabulous song. A great band especially live. Such a pity they didn't make it big time. Thanks for uploading this vid.
First band i was obsessed with. Saw them in Leicester in the 90s. should have been so much bigger. when you think of all the fodder that made (makes) the charts it criminal. This is my fave Love and Money song.
Awesome!!! Strange Kind Of Love is a great Love And Money record. I remember buying it on a whim in 1989, never even heard of them but the album cover looked cool. Now it's one of my top 10 all-time favorite records.
Elle est super forte cette chanson ! Entre les paroles inspirées, la ligne de basse et les envolées électriques. Du grandiose comme seules les 80ies ont produit.
Bought this single at a boot sale as I had bought Candybar Express years ago and couldn't believe I had missed this band completely when they were about. What a travesty that they weren't huge stars. Great vocals too.
Haven't heard this song for a while, one of my favourites from them, appropriate to leave a comment in July when "wrote you a letter and sent it on the 1st of July"!!!
I've never seen this video! Thanks for sharing it. This was one great album. Great band. Great, soulful singing... Great bass...guitar...percussion... All around great band. I miss great music like this. I couldn't agree more with ya, ady24.
James never got the recognition he deserved as a Guitar Player
Criminal this tune wasn’t a massive hit. An ex girlfriend introduced me to love and money in 1990. 34 years later this tune still sounds as good if not better.
This is Top 10 greatest albums ever created!!!
The whole album is pure gold.
This album is class. Sometimes you don't need to achieve major success to produce something that stands the test of time.
I absolutely love this song! When we talk about favourite songs, music, etc. and I name this, sometimes people look at me like I come from another planet!
unfortunately very common in this days, quality music seems to be lost everywhere
Same with me! Brilliant song. Love Halleluiah Man and Strange kind of Love from them also. The Blue Nile tracks, Downtown Lights and Headlights on the Parade are also awesome tunes from a bygone era!
Because the song is out of this world.
the same her Michele..people don't know this band & their delightful , wonderful music..best album i've heard ( I'm 60 ) & have a huge collection
Such a brilliant song and album 👍
Brilliant band - brilliant single - they should have ruled the world - shows how corrupt the music business is
In Glasgow, James Grant stills rules the world. Peace.
Good band would’ve been better if they hadn’t kicked ma brother in law oot
Genius
If only James Grant wasn't such a maverick, they could have been as big as any band from the UK.
Shocking. Nice to read your reply here. Amazing band.
Wow...shocking and very sad!☹️
They should've been huge in the music business! 🎸

I was thinking the exact same thing about Desert Island Discs. 😂
the 80's, when Scottish music ruled😄
Beautiful voice, great band
Another top class song, love this
This album is the pinnacle of good taste. Just pure perfection.
True and more...
it still makes my spine tingle and brings joy to my heart.....one of the most underestimated bands of that time....
Sooogoood❤
Utterly brilliant.....
My first track on the desert island list!
Makes me think of a girl then and makes me cry
'Still think about her' but never hated her guts.
Wow! Powerful statement. All the very best to you.
with the weather, the U.K. will be the desert island.
James Grant has such a strong voice yet still has a lovely gentle tone.
What a great band....I love this song...
Love the lyrics to this song. A tale of loss. “The worst thing that could happen is the answer to his prayers” because the relationship could never work. Sublime lyrics, superb guitar. An exceptional track.

Great group.
“Tutti ricordi che fioriscono e sbocciano
Nella pallida ora di Endimione
Dipingono un ritratto di te
Troppo bello per essere vero
E odio me stesso perché desidero, perché mi manchi
Bacio la tua anima
Tutte le cose che una volta alimentavano il mio appetito
Adesso mi prosciugano, prosciugano
Inseguendo arcobaleni e lucciole
Per guardarle svanire via davanti ai miei occhi”

Great song .... brings back lots of happy memories :)
One of my 80's favourites - I could never understand why this Song never reached the Heights it deserved.
Jocelyn square is located in Glasgow it is a street next to the the high court just off the saltmarket the original square extended in front of the high court on to Glasgow green
I know I lived in the briggait also Jocelyn square was the site of the city mortuary
The steady meliferous melodic beats rise in majestic waves, ripped through a maelstrom of powerful lyrics. (Cut your jib; jive your jab!)
That’s for the info. I often wondered where Jocelyn Square was!
@@skaterken8the high flats are stirligfauld in the gorbals and the metals building is the govanhill bar

It depends on where life takes you? 'Gentle on my Mind' John Denver was great.
Jeff porcaro of TOTO on drums!!
Sophistication and a bass that kicks ass

Strange Kind of Love was overseen by Steely Dan producer Gary Katz - only quoting but often unknown/un-noticed, a gospel worth spreading, quality!
This album is great. It’s a nostalgic trip fir me. I still have the CD which I bought in 1989. Love all their stuff. James Grant is a great singer.
