@raisedbyhippies3792 your presentation is on a professional level. You could step directly from videos to a Cable/Network job. You're very good. I won't go into it here but having worked at a Network, also in Network Syndication and a major studio, I have experienced many hosts, narrators, VO personnel, etc to recognize talent. Keep up what you're doing.
I am in no way a big Stones fan, but I've always thought that the Mick Taylor era was their best period - Bitch, Angie, It's Only Rock and Roll, etc...
Well done! An underreported contributor to the chaos of that day was the 4' high stage, which made it easy for any tripped out kid to try and climb up, and also made it easy for the Angels to strike them down with their lead filled pool cues.
I heard it said that it's better to invite the Angels than for them to just show up. I mean, would Woodstock have been what we know it today if the Angels had been there? The Angel that has words with Paul Kantner looks like the same Angel who got his ass kicked by spectators at Evel Knievel's jump at the Cow Palace. And no, I'm not trippin! I thought Hunter had gotten two shots off. After he was stabbed, concert goers moved him and put him on the stage, stage left. The Angels, and there is a photo of this, pushed him back off the stage. I wasn't there, so i don't know if anything we hear from that day is true, but that is my understanding. Sam Cutler wrote a book called You Can't Always Get What You Want, where he tells his version of the whole 1969 tour. Great book, riveting. I felt like I was there. Check it out. Thank you for the fantastic video and for letting me comment.
I was at Altamont. This is a pretty good docu. The 60's, with all our dreams and foolishness and sonic hijinx, DID NOT end because a 9 changed to a 0. Right over here >> is an ad for "Altamont--the day the 60's died. Hey, maybe we can make some $ off of those stupid, nostalgic wannabe ex-hippies." Well, we were not nearly as foolish as usually depicted...that came later. Look for a book called "Water From Another Time".
The beginning of the decade was so youthful and hopeful then Sumner of Love was a peace and move movement with acid and protests but then it ended in the worst way possible in Altamont
Very Good Job!! We Had Woodstock!! Then Altamont And The Manson Murders... Things Came To A Screeching Halt!!! But We Did Continue The Muse Somewhat And Of Course The Music Endured!!! Peace And Love!!!!!
If the Maisies brothers weren’t making a film then possibly things would have happened differently. If Mick didn’t announce the free concert so far in advance, then it wouldn’t have attracted so many people. And if the Rolling Stones had better management, then everything would’ve been better. Especially for Brian.
AI sez: "The Rolling Stones were invited to play at Woodstock but declined because Mick Jagger was filming Ned Kelly in Australia and Keith Richards' girlfriend, Anita Pallenberg, had recently given birth to their son Marlon."
😂CIA acid drop on The Good ship lollipop. First on the assassination list was Jagger untilthey had their wait til Lennon start it over in the early 80s
Good video. I think the 60s attempted to limp along ,or at least the “dream” for a couple more years after this, but in truth it was over. In 1969 festivals were still a relatively new thing. Woodstock, which was in itself shambolic was a thousand times better organised than Altamont. You had a “free concert “ that had no venue….then the venue was announced but was changed a number of times. You had a quater of a million kids in the road, there was no infrastructure to deal with the crowd…no running water…no food…lots of bad acid….long delays…a rapidly growing and restless crowd….and around 40/50 Hells Angels acting as “security “! And on top of that a lot of the Angels who were involved in the violence were prospects looking to make a name for themselves. You then had a young black man who is clearly tripping and who pulls a gun….what could go wrong!!! I lay the blame on the band. Not fully but most if it. Mick was simply focusing on money. Get the show filmed and released before the Woodstock film. At a totally unsuitable venue…a crowd tripping on bad drugs, a hugely outnumbered security, really Mick and Keith were completely over their heads here. They thought the “Angels” at Hyde Park were the same Angels at Altamont! They were wrong!

That's when the Stones cemented the bad boy image with out trying
All that peace and love went down the drain
Then who has been attending Grateful Dead (the biggest live act in show business history) concerts around the world for the last half century?
You’re on fire!!! Keep em coming!
Thanks! Will do!

Didn’t know that when I moved to Livermore three years ago that it was the home of the Altamont Speedway. It’s such a nice town.

I thought the Stones were not invited because their song Street Fighting Man seemed to the organizers to run counter to the theme of peace and love?
