- Here is the video of Double D mining gold for the third year. We got a new digger and wash plant so we had to set up the mining sites which took a lot of time. Thanks to Steve for letting us dig on his claims. We will be busy hand mining this winter, but we will fire up the machines once winter in gone.

Sometimes it is best to rent some bigger equipment for a short time to move a lot more dirt in a much shorter time. This can be especially true with a very short season.

YES!!!!!. You can't mine with that little PC40. Between fuel and the amount of overburden it can only move, you won't profit. Now, if you tested some killer ground which held multiple grams per yard, you might profit.
YOU have the smartest comment on here. No way that little mini moves enough dirt to profit. That and the washplant burn up any gold in fuel. That ground aint no more than 1 ounce per hundred I'd bet and figure that one out with the math. If it were more than a ounce per hundred someone woulda scooped it up already. If you get to drive to your gold claim, someone already spent the money to make the road and got the creme. So you best be ready to run at least a thousand yards per day. It's gold fever. Gold Rush and Bering Sea Gold got everyone's panties in a bunch to go get the gold. BUT, ain't no one willing to hunt down the good ground left cuz there ain't no roads and water's a mile away. Too hard. Recreational? Shit. I ain't workin my ass off for recreational activities. It's gold fever, like Jack Hoffman thinking he'll drive a road in El Dorado, stop on the side of the road and find a pot of gold someone missed. If someone's been there and there's a road, they left table scraps. A bone with a a piece of grissel the buzzards didn't even want.

Naw man, there's not any losing in gold mining cuz yur talking about ALOT of money. That's why ya find out whats under the ground before you dig it. Digging randomly cuz it's a "gold claim" is idiotic. Why mine if you won't profit? No point. These dudes lose money I'd bet you. That little excavator and washplant eat up ANY money made. No way they run enough material to profit. No earthly way.
Why are you guys not land dredging just a curious question? Is it the law or something else?

Great cleanup! You could probably buy a sandwich for a whole years work. Gotta love people who think they are miners. Best of luck next year and hopefully you can at least find a gram of gold

The top didn't look like a good spot to dig. It was on a hill, no valley or bench, just a hill.

Equipment is too small. That's a claim where you can drive equipment in. Any claim where you can drive equipment into is one of those claims in which you have to run fucking 100 yards or more to get 1/2 to 1 ounce. That small equipment won't do it. Only claim you MIGHT be able to profit off that tiny equipment would be a bench claim or something, one in which you have to cut in a half mile road, which isn't what big miners want. They want the giant claim they can tear up for 5 years.
These boys just like dicking around out in the bush. They spent a lot of the video time pushing stuff around but it seemed very little actually putting gravel in the plant.
At todays prices an ounce a day with a one man operation and small equipment would pay ok wages. But, in my opinion, if a hand shovel is involved its just an exercise in stupidity .
Horrible spot to mine. Digging up the mountainside. Less it's the bottom of a bench, don't dig up the mountainside.
