- Today we take a look around Newark Police Station, Queen's Rd, Newark NG24 1LJ.
We are impressed with the modern look of this new police station but soon find some faults.
We meet an inspector who was so down to earth, and didn't mind at all me throwing an old sign over the gate, to be put into the skip.
We highlight out concerns to the inspector and then go inside for a quick check in the disabled toilet emergency pull cord.
This was the most challenging part as the empty public reception was staffed by a civilian who didn't want us filming.
Eventually we was let into the disabled toilet, filmed the cord, and left on good terms.

The Ceiling Pull Switch was not really 'compliant'
- The two pull rings: one should be set a height between 800 and 1000mm & the other set 100mm (4 inches) above the floor level. The lower one there was at least 12 inches above the floor level.
If more people at work gave a shit like you do about things DJ or even are politicians , this country would be a far better place.
Don't worry too much, they are busy investigating and looking for the missing letter!

A disabled toilet within a public building should have a RADAR key, there is every poster/sign possible covering the door, except the sign 'DISABLED TOILET' !!
Enjoy watching your vids we always see the old bill fishing for info or coming in heavy handed would love to see their reaction when you ask them "Can you garrentee me privilege against self-incrimination?" They'll most likely say NO But still wonder what tactic they would employ next...

DJ, that isn't a bannister, it is a balustrade. For your information.
That toilet still failed, BS8300:2009 states the the lowest loop should be less that 100mm from the floor and the highest should be 800mm-1000mm from the floor.
If someone fell in there and they don't have any grip strength they may not be able to pull the cord as the lower loop is way too high.
Great audit. No hassle, perfect. Police in the car couldnt give a crap about that piece of wood tho :) She looked so completely disinterested :)

I would assume those smaller Toyota police cars are for PCSOs. I say this because in my area, PCSOs are given Peugeot 208s with batten-burg liveries, but no light bar or the word POLICE down the side of the car.

The wobbly bollards were strange, not just because they were wobbly but what were they there for?
I assume the ones at the front were there to stop vehicle attacks but it would have made no difference at all if the wobbly ones weren't there so I don't get the point of them. The police should get whoever installed them to come back and fix them properly though.
Now that's what I'd call a thorough audit, when the auditor wants to take a look down the bogs.

Another great installment! Have you ever though of mixing it up with a bit of thermal integrity auditing with a thermal imaging cam? (old police stations and gov building heat loss, you could probably catch some methane gases from the dumps, truck and plant emissions?)
Or a police cannabis farm if you're lucky.
