My Thai Driving License Renewal

- Today, I needed to sort out my Driving and Riding license renewal, as it's been 7 years since I arrived in Thailand. The standard process for these licenses is to get a Thai permit issued based on your country's driving license when you first arrive. Car and bike licenses are listed on the same permit in Australia if you have both. Still, here in Thailand, there are two separate licenses, and you need to renew both licenses as individual issues. In this video, I cover what I presented for the renewal, which matched what they listed in the DLT application, so there is no hidden or missing paperwork.

I got a lot out of it, e.g. the DLT app and also I think you said you had a Thailand ID card is that correct? If yes where do I apply, is that also DLt? Lastly the yellow book you were holding, I’ve never heard of that before but you mentioned you had previously covered that so if you do not mind do you have a vlog reference? The Foreigner ID card is part of the Tabian Baan issue which is done at your local council office not the DLT. You need to take the house owner (they have the blue house book) and two other Thai nationals who all know you and basically vouch for you. Renewing my license online tomorrow morning when I get up. Then again, this is in USA. Hopefully Thailand will eventually go to that. Same as I have yet to understand why Thailand hasn't gotten to where you can get your bank statement online. But, like they say, This Is Thailand.
We have a low unemployment rate here in Thailand because labour is cheap so paper-pushing helps with that!
I renew mine every 6 years, less headache. Let the licence expire then present the day after and it will be 5 years 364 days. It must expire on your birthday. So they go forward to the next year.
Yes, that's what I figured was going on. I got 5 years and 5 months on the last one and I just thought it was an oversight. I did make sure I booked the appointment before the expiry date though as I could see that might cause some issues too.
