This is honestly one of the scariest things I can imagine. Fighting a long brutal battle against a fierce enemy, and then after using a horrible, devastating weapon and seeing even the birds fall from the sky, dead; KNOWING you have won, that your opponent is dead. And then in your moment of terrible victory, to see your foe claw his way to his feet, to see his wounded drag themselves towards you, unwilling to let ANYTHING, even death, stop him... That is fear.
Not only this but your enemy knows they're going to die, they're litterally coughing up peices of their lungs, and so their only goal is to take as many of you out before they succumb. They're suicidal because they know they're dead, its just a matter of time.
Reminds me of a story here in Serbia that a Captain(or a leader of some sort) of the Serbian army in WW1 told his men to make their enemies lives harder, even in death, by making sure their own bodies drop on the ground in a way to block the enemies paths of advance.. crazy times, tough ppl! No one these days can handle the real reality of history, not everything is sunshine & roses history is history we wouldn't be where we are if history wasn't apart of our culture, like the good saying goes, those who are to ignorant to learn history are bound to repeat....
Chlorine turns to hydrochloric acid when it dissolves in aqueous fluids like tears, mucus, etc. So the fluid in their lungs has become highly acidic, prompting the production of more fluid which is essentially drowning them. It's actually a pretty poor war gas (as such things go) because its detectable at a concentration of less than 1 part per million (ppm) but the lethal concentration is more like 1000 ppm, so it gives the target lots of warning so they can run away, get to higher ground above the gas (since it's heavier than air), or take defensive steps. Canadian troops at Ypres a few months before put wet handkerchiefs over the mouths and noses and were able to remain in the trenches and fight back.
This. This right here has to have been the single most terrifying battle of the great war-nay, of ALL TIME. just imagine, you see your enemy all lying dead on the ground, suffocated by mustard gas, *and then they start getting up with zero warning.*
True heroes, never surrendered, fought until the last breath, incredible what they did for their country, they fought back, when no one thought they could've...
Well, those soldiers simply had no other choice. Apart of that, they were surely f**** g angry of that gas attack killing 95% of their fellows like rats. So in the counter charge they just wanted to pay back. Especially as they just felt to be dying anyway by the gas, so there was no reason to fear the enemy soldiers in their (felt) last minutes... Never underestimate the courage of a dying man.
@annonymous2223 Im talking about soldiers who were never asked about their opinion and had no other choice, and they served their country well and beyond their call of duty...
Yo the Russian who climbs the hill first screaming at the top of his scarred and shredded lungs as each and every one of them limps towards the enemy in one final act of insanely painful courage seriously gives me chills, that’s the courage of men with no other option. The love for their country and the men besides them outweighing even the most painful ordeals. Serious respect sirs.
At that point the pain compels you to “ take as many with you as you can” sure I’m going to die but I’m going to do so with my hands locked around the throat of the bastards who did kill me
Imagine being a german soldier and seeing over 200 men missing parts of their face, spitting out blood, and covered in wounds charging at you. Chilling.
Even though there is no real discernible dialogue, you can just *hear* the “We’re not dead yet, mother-effers” and “You’re gonna have to try harder than *that* ” from the Russians
Well, we’re not sure the exact count, but it was probably a distributed number. A lot of them were so far poisoned they probably didn’t live minutes longer, and others survived the whole ordeal and lived to tell the tale when the fortress was evacuated a fortnight later. At this point, no WW1 veteran is still alive, but there were survivors of the battle.
Russians then- DEATH? that's nothing in front of my might Never gonna fall back, never let our country down Russians now- Oooooooo Farmers scary Let's just tell Ukraine our Story so Naruto uses Talk no jutsu on us and helps us
Many years ago, when I was in the US Army, I was an NBC officer and was taught (among other things) determining combat effectiveness of troops exposed to high levels of nuclear radiation. Nuclear radiation is nasty in that exposure to high levels suddenly, initially causes a person to become incompasitated. But, the body has reserves that allow soldiers to recover - for a while. So, for a time, these soldiers remain effective combat units. However, they quickly die of radiation sickness. The point is, we were taught that these troops should be employed ASAP, in essentially suicide formations, since they were dead, but walking around. This song reminded me of this.
I should add a little more information. Chemical weapons aren't really designed to kill soldiers. They are designed to make them casualties and create a burden to the military support system. This makes the military less effective because of the need to care for those troops who have been affected by the gas.
@@Боромир effectively. You have to use them, now, or else you just lost how many soldiers. So you gear them up as suicide troops. They go in and cause as much damage as possible, he'll even using their blood as a weapon is viable due to the high radiation levels. They are walking, dying bombs.

For those of you who don't understand the concept, on the 6th of August 1915, the army of Germans started to attack Osewiec, a Russian fortress, using chlorine gas, they killed a huge army of Russian soldiers, and thought they had completed that small mission, how ever, they weren't done yet, as thousands of the Russian soldiers stood back up, charging back at the German invaders, foaming at the mouth, protecting the motherland, it was a terrifying sight for the Germans, seeing dead men stand up and counter attacking, causing the remaining German troops to retreat.
German soldiers who faced this says this is still their nightmare till these days, they still see those Russians with burned skin and their skulls and bones, just like the zombies
This battle will always be my favourite event in history, knowing that those soldiers were so determined to stop the enemies at the gate that they refused to let even death itself stop them

@@blueindigo1000 и так и так применять можно, и нельзя
@@Боромир effectively. You have to use them, now, or else you just lost how many soldiers. So you gear them up as suicide troops. They go in and cause as much damage as possible, he'll even using their blood as a weapon is viable due to the high radiation levels. They are walking, dying bombs.
Oh geez, you still live after getting high exposire of radiation then die on later? Brutal
