Those Norman guitars are quite something. I own an ST68 from 2002. This guitar was not an OM body back then. It was a dreadnought, without electronics. I never regretted my purchase although I had the money to buy big brands back then. OK, I agree, I am sold to them because I am from Quebec 😂😂
I always regretted not buying a Norman in the mid 90's. I don't know what model, but they looked like this and had an oil finish. Plain guitar, a cheap guitar, but mind blowingly good. They left an impression on me. Not a single flaw or detriment to them. I knew for a fact that if I did buy one, it would be perfect. I never did.
I have an older 70s B-20 which I've owned since I was 14. The pre-fire guitars with bolt-on necks and red maple leaf labels are amazing guitars. If you can find one for sale, go check it out.
I have the older B20 and It’s been with me for the last 17 years. Been a real beater, strung it with 13-56 for most of the time and has held up really well tho’ now it’s time to visit the luthier for some tlc ’cause the action is a bit high and I don’t like to fiddle with that myself. I am located in Sweden and there’s no issues with cracks in the top, much thanks to the similar climate from it’s origin Canada Great guitar and workhorse! I would say that the sound may not be for everyones ears but it is really punchy and loud in an all acoustic session.
I have a B20 that i bought in 2002 in the UK. I love it to bits. I woyld say it has become better with age. It has a bit more low end and is a bit warmer than when i first got it.
I found the new model a little muddy on the lower strings and somewhat brighter in the higher register. Overall I prefer the original - sounds a little more distinctive and richer in tone. Of course strings could be the difference- it sounded like the new model was strung with new lightweight strings whereas the older model felt more like light: medium

13-56 sounds heavy for one of these but I guess the rod has served you well. I run 11-52s same as they came with from the factory.
I have a Norman B50 Studio . 2008 all maple with Spruce top.. Beautiful sound
Is the old B20 you're demoing is also called the Norman Encore B20 or that's a different model of B20s?

Nice job, but I prefer quick back and forth comparisons 1-2 bars max??
Thanks for your feedback! We will take this into consideration.

You're only recording to the "Left Audio Channel" at a really low audio level. Nice video otherwise! 😊👍
Either works to my ear
The ne B-20, has a brighter sound then the old B-20, but they are two very good solid and sounding guitar.
