    I now want a rock ukulele,,,!!!!!!, I already have 5 .
    But just not a solid body rock one . I think your lessons are giving me some kind ukulele alian fever. But again I am loving your down to earth lessons.
    I to am a rockingbass player at 50 plus . And left to my own devices, could play for an hour or more. :)

    Fantastic overview of electric ukuleles! I own a few electric acoustic and eying the Flight vanguard (also a big fan of purple!). Where do you get steel electric tenor ukulele strings? This is the one aspect that’s making me pause before buying the Vanguard. Love your reviews! Thanks!

      Thanks 😊
      You use regular electric guitar strings (the top 4) so it makes it really easy to buy strings. I show me changing them here. th-cam.com/video/jphlP_xkfUU/w-d-xo.html

    Love my Les Paul-style Gold Top Flight Centurian ukulele. I lucked out. mine did not need a whole lot of setup out of the box other than better strings (D'Addario NYXL 10-52) I play mine out of a Vox AD30VT solid state/tube hybrid and sometimes out of my Boss Katana.

      Very nice and great to hear you are happy. I have been tempted to get a Ceturion but it's very hard to justify as I have a Risa LP so it really would only be for comparison purposes. Keep rocking yours!

    Recently I had a chance to try a multi-effects pedal. It was a loaner from a neighbor. It's called the Sonicake Rockstage. It has distortion, delay, reverb, and chorus. I really wanted to like it, but to my ear it sounded bad in that grimacing kind of way, even with a LOT of tweaking. 😬 My neighbor likes it, though, so I wouldn't say it's not worth trying, especially since it's quite inexpensive. Anyway, today the adventure continues! I ordered my first single effects pedal: a mini Tube Screamer. I hope I have as much fun with it as you do with yours. It may be a gateway drug to my very own mini pedal board, and, if so, it's all your fault. LOL!

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can see you have already made a start on the pedalboard Jules but I agree, I think it is very hit and miss with the multi fx pedals. They made me have a play with effects to start with but they really are quite fiddly and yes, some just sound baaaaaaaad! Blame me for it all, just remember - Why do you need it...............

    This is a very useful and understandable, thank you. But my main question is that I'm thinking of buying a Kala STGE-C electro/acoustic tenor. My question is would the instrument sound the same as a plain acoustic if played not plugged in? 👍

    Electric Guitar is easier than Acoustic Guitar so the same can be true for Electric Ukulele being easier to play than Acoustic Ukulele. What if they made Steel String Conversion sets for existing Ukuleles.

    Tuning question: tuned exactly the same as an acoustic uke or is the G string on the electric tuned to the lower G?

    • @UkuleleWales

      Low G on these solid body electric ukuleles. The electro acoustics have both. 👍

      @@UkuleleWales ok so to be clear, solid body G string is tuned to the lower G but the electro acoustic can go either way: standard uke tuning OR lower G. Right??

    Hi Rachel, i am looking for a new Tenor ukulele, & want something similar to my Enya nova u pro which sounds good and has built in amp for when i am away from home but sounds ok when not being used electrically. Do you have any suggestions ? opinions.
    I have looked at th Ibanez uict10 & the Fender Jazzmaster but neither have a built in amp and feel i get the best of several worlds with my Enya .
    Thank you in advance .

      TBH I'm not a fan of either Fender or Ibanez ukes, they both make great guitars and basses but fall short with their ukes. Take a look at the Flight Soundwave series, they might suit you? flightmusic.com/product/flight-victoria-soundwave-tenor-ukulele/

    Hi Rachel, Thanks so much for your videos! I think you're pretty much the only person on the web who explains amps and such without assuming previous knowledge (I say this because I spent about 2 weeks trying to figure out pickups and amps...). I'd really be interested in a comparison of passive VS active pickups on electroacoustic ukes, and whether or not it makes sense to use a preamp for passive ones. I'm a professional musician but only picked up the ukulele very recently. It's great fun, even for small-handed people like me :)

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the lovely comment, and yes very often as a teacher I do assume very little knowledge is know which really helps here on the channel and totally agree it’s necessary. I will certainly look at doing a comparison of passive / active EA ukes. Personally I have found they each have their place - through mixers, wireless etc. Great suggestion. Thanks 😊

    I have a solid electric ukulele pathfinder flight Pioneer steel strings but Im having trouble tuning it I really would like it to be a standard tuning but I'm scared of the G string breaking, I do have it on low G but I'm not happy about it, so is it possible to tune my ukulele to the standard tuning or is it not possible?

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, you won't be able to tune the existing low G string an octave higher as it would snap but there is a possibility that you could put a thinner gauge string and tune it to high G. I haven't done it personally so not 100% sure which would be the best replacemt string. Possibly ask in a guitar shop.

    • @TheIronDuke9
      @TheIronDuke9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, if you haven't found your answer yet I use a D'Addario PLO11 (0.279mm) steel string for a high G and it works great
