March 1939
Germany led by Hitler had already annexed Austria
and completed the occupation of Czechoslovakia by 12th of March
laying the groundwork for setting up the 3rd Reich.
Italy led by Benito Mussolini,
dreams of its own empire.
has conquered Ethiopia as early as 1936
and planned to expand into the European continent.
Next goal is Albania, to which he is invading
on Good Friday before Easter on April 7th, 1939.
Italian troops invaded Albania and disembarked at all ports at once.
Albanian military forces put up little resistance.
On April 8, Italian troops entered Tirana and soon occupied the whole of Albania.
The Albanian king Zog I and members of his family left for Greece, taking with them part of the gold reserves of the Central Bank of Albania.
Just 4 days later, the Albanian parliament depose King Zog I and offers the Albanian Crown to the Italian monarch Victor Emmanuel III, King of Italy, in a "personal union" between Albania and Italy. Albania becomes essentially a protectorate of Italy and part of the Italian Empire.
But Mussolini's ambitions are not limited to Albania. The countdown to the invasion of Greece has begun.

Η Γερμανία υπό την ηγεσία του Χίτλερ έχει ήδη προσαρτήσει την Αυστρία
και στις 12 του ίδιου μήνα ολοκλήρωσε την κατοχή της Τσεχοσλοβακίας
βάζοντας τις βάσεις για τα σχέδια πραγματοποίησης του 3ου PΑΪΧ.
H Ιταλία υπό την ηγεσία του Μπενίτο Μουσολίνι,
ονειρεύεται την δική της αυτοκρατορία.
Έχει κατακτήσει την Αιθιοπία ήδη από το 1936
και σχεδιάζει την επέκταση στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ήπειρο.
Επόμενος στόχος η Αλβανία στην οποία εισβάλει
την Μεγάλη Παρασκευή των Καθολικών την 7 Απριλίου 1939.
Τα ιταλικά στρατεύματα, εισέβαλαν στην Αλβανία και αποβιβάστηκαν σε όλα τα λιμάνια ταυτόχρονα.
Οι Αλβανικές στρατιωτικές δυνάμεις προέβαλαν μικρή αντίσταση.
Στις 8 Απριλίου, ιταλικά στρατεύματα εισήλθαν στα Τίρανα και σύντομα κατέλαβαν ολόκληρη την Αλβανία.
Ο Αλβανός βασιλιάς Ζώγκου και μέλη της οικογένειάς του έφυγαν για την Ελλάδα, παίρνοντας μαζί τους μέρος των αποθεμάτων χρυσού της Κεντρικής Τράπεζας της Αλβανίας.
Μόλις 4 ημέρες μετά, το Αλβανικό κοινοβούλιο εκθρονίζει τον Αλβανό βασιλιά και προσφέρει το Αλβανικό στέμμα στον Ιταλό μονάρχη Βίκτωρα Εμμανουήλ III βασιλιά της Ιταλίας σε μια «προσωπική ένωση» της Αλβανίας με την Ιταλία. Η Αλβανία γίνεται ουσιαστικά προτεκτοράτο της Ιταλίας και μέρος της Ιταλικής Αυτοκρατορίας.
Αλλά οι φιλοδοξίες του Μουσολίνι δεν περιορίζονται στην Αλβανία. Η αντίστροφη μέτρηση για την εισβολή στην Ελλάδα έχει αρχίσει.
Για να μην ξεχάσουμε ποτέ αυτά τα πράγματα, ώστε να μην περπατήσουμε ποτέ ξανά σε αυτό το μονοπάτι. Αγάπη από την Ιταλία αδέρφια Έλληνες.

I wanted to say thank you to this channel in uploading this video (in the commemoration of the 83 anniversary of the Italian invasion of Albania) and secondly, I think that the history should not be used in Greece for creating falsified stories such as the collaboration of our people to the Fascists. Albania and the Albanian people fought itself against the Fascist Italy to protect its independence and from the danger that could come for the future of the Balkans such as for Yugoslavia and Greece. Long live the national heroes of April 7th, 1939!
Thank you from Albania for showing the history as it is. Albanians fought the fashists too. Of course Greece fought more than anyone else. Peace. Love Greece.

At last governments agreed some of them to be given as services and goods.
Italian companies constructed hydroelectrics and water blocks e.g. at Ladonas.
Greek government did not take advantage of all offers. Remember , here 1944 it start the Civil War. So the Greek traitors are responsible if those money and goods wasted.
Additionally, recently Italian courts helped many Greeks to ask compensation from Germany. Again Greek governments did not act.

Picking up some videos to show that Albanian where collaborators with the Italian is absolutely ridiculous. Albanian have fought fascism and 28,000 people have given their life to liberate Albania.
This video focus on the Italian invasion of Albania. To my understanding, the “fight against fascism” and the “28,000 dead” that you mention relate to the period from 1941 onwards and mainly from 1943. All the events that we mention on the video are completely accurate and represent the attitude of the majority of Albanian population towards Italians from the time of the invasion and at least until the end of 1940.
I doubt that as a country you were faring better prior to the Italian invasion. Italy, at the time, was developed enough to benefit you in all respects.
Well let say that Albanian didn't welcome the Italians ..fighting result on Durres Shengjin Porto Palermo delvin ect ect there were some 50 casualties with 20 dead ..but yeah wasn't an organised resistance ...also y should mention that at the moment italy announced war on Greecs the Albanians voluntary battalions deserted an masse ..

Interesante documental original griego muy patriota, sin embargo falta mas informacion de la situacion politica entre Italia-Albania y Grecia en los años anteriores al conflicto, profundizar en como el Gobierno y el Ejercito de Grecia prepararon con años de anticipacion la movilizacion de los reservistas y la rapida conscripcion de sus ciudadanos, ya que solo en pocas semanas pasaron de solo 35.000 soldados defensores a tener un formidable ejercito de mas de 230.000 atacantes que derrotaron a su invasor. Lo disfrute mucho ya que es muy poco lo escrito o mostrado en documentales y nada en castellano lo que dificulta conocer la realidad de los acontecimientos Gracias
Ήταν ήδη γνωστό από το 1936 στην ελληνική κυβέρνηση οτι η Ελλάδα ήταν πολύ δύσκολο να μείνει ουδέτερη όπως επιθυμούσε και ήταν στα επεκτατικα σχέδια του Μουσολίνι της Ιταλίας.Οποτε σε 4 χρόνια λογικό να είχε προετοιμαστει αρκετά από στρατιωτικής πλευράς και η επιστράτευση να γίνεται σε πολύ σύντομο χρονικό διάστημα

Mi abuelo Nicola Contardo estuvo en la isla de Creta y Grecia continental fue soldado italiano y como fuerza de ocupación( gracias a Dios no peleo, ni lastimó a nadie). Estaba en el campo, en un viñedos y el dueño se llamaba Manoilo o manoiolus lo trataba muy bien le daba vino que elaboraba y comida. Volvió a Italia porque falleció unos de sus padres y en ese momento Italia se rendio. Grecia le traía lindo recuerdo.
Tambien mi abuelo se llamaba Nicola y fue en la Isla de Creta. Que lindo es el Internet.

True Albania joined Italy, but Italy never asked Albania. They just informed them that their country is no longer indepedant.

Greetings. Good video. Only thing you forgot to mention was that albanian military got sabotaged prior to war. A few thousands of albanian soldiers were invited in Italy and they had no idea what was going on. Not only that but due to italians persence in albanians army their weapons & cannons got sabotaged aswell with albanians only to find out hours before war broke out.
Despite the hughe difference in strength & numbers and being left with just few guns albanians still made a heroic last stand especially in Durres & Vlore.
An albanian officer Mujo Ulqinaku with a few hundred of his men kept italians for hours and when their limited ammo ran out Mujo grabbed two machine guns and run forward into landing italian forces on the beach killing dozens. He got hit by altillery shell and the resistance fell quickly after that.
The whole "warm welcome" was set up and well planned before conquest since italian influence had been heavy for years in Albania.
Despite that albanians kept fighting italians in guerrila style & later we fought germans aswell.

Generally Albanian ppl welcome Italian forces and thought that with them they will gain their unlawful demands towards Serbs and especially towards Greeks..

Greeks took care of Italians very well and in the process crashed Albanians for good..

Italy went to war not because they were strong militarily, but because Mussolini was having wet dreams about Ancient Rome.
The purpose of this video is to show that Italian aggression towards Greece came from Albania, therefore Albania attacked Greece, which one of the many wet dreams that Greek people still have.
Albanian government didn't organize any form of resistance whatsoever, but left the country even before Italians came. Albanian volunteers fought the Italians in the port of Durres without any weapons whatsoever, basically just by throwing rocks at them and resisted for 2-3 days. That's how strong Italian army was. Why isn't that in this video???

Συγχαρητήρια και πάλι για τη δεύτερη ιστορική αναδρομή και μάλιστα υπό το πρίσμα της ουδετερότητας, φυσικά δεν μαθαίνονται αυτά στα σχολεία γιατί θα υπάρξουν πολλά ερωτήματα, όπως τι έγινε ο χρυσός του Αλβανού Βασιλιά που έφερε στην Ελλάδα, με ποια ανταλλάγματα τον φυγαδεύσαμε, γιατί δεν κρατήσαμε την Βόρεια Ήπειρο εφόσον μας επιτέθηκαν πρώτοι ? και άλλα πολλά. Οι Αλβανοί ακόμα εγείρουν αξιώσεις για την τότε μειονότητα που σιμάχισε με τους Φασίστες εναντίον μας μέσα στα ίδια μας τα εδάφη, με την ίδια λογική θα έπρεπε και εμείς να αξιώσουμε την Βόρεια Ήπειρο. Όπως και τότε με την Ιταλία έτσι και τώρα μια μεγάλη μερίδα των Αλβανών βρίσκει σύμμαχο την Τουρκία για να επιχειρήσει το ίδιο, ξεχνάν ότι ενώ αυτοί καταλήφθηκαν σε μισή μέρα από την Ιταλία εμείς ήμασταν η μόνη χώρα στον 2ο ΠΠ που πολέμησε 4 στρατούς ταυτόχρονα της υπερδύναμης τότε Γερμανίας της Ιταλίας της Βουλγαρίας και της Αλβανίας, Μπορεί να τους λυπήθηκε ο Ναπολέων Ζέρβας τότε αλλά ο επόμενος Έλληνας ίσος να μην.
Μια ζωή ήταν, είναι και θα είναι γληφτες. Δυστυχώς!!!!
Αναμεσα στη Β. Ηπειρο και τα Δωδεκανησα πηραμε τα Δωδεκανησα μετα τον πολεμο. Το χρυσο τον τσιμπησε ο Αλβανος βασιλιας και λαδωσε τους ημετερους, απλα τα πραγματα.
@@moutsos2127 Δίκιο έχεις αλλά ζητούσαμε περισσότερα όπως την Ανατολική Θράκη, την Αδριανούπολη την ένωση με την Κύπρο, την Βόρεια Ήπειρο, τα Δωδεκάνησα κλπ και πήραμε μόνο τα Δωδεκάνησα από τους Ιταλούς, από τους Αλβανούς που επίσης μας επιτέθηκαν δεν πήραμε την Βόρεια Ήπειρο όπου υπήρχαν διεθνείς συμφωνίες αναγνώρισης των δικαιωμάτων μας εκεί. Για την Κύπρο που από το 1915 οι Άγγλοι την πρόσφεραν στην Κυβέρνηση Αλέξανδρου Ζαίμη άλλαξαν γνώμη για την οποία υπήρχε πρόβλεψη και από την συνθήκη των Σεβρών. Για την προσάρτηση της ανατολικής Θράκης και την διαρρύθμιση των Ελληνοβουλγαρικών συνόρων από την Βουλγαρία που μας επιτέθηκε στην Δυτική Θράκη. Για την Αδριανούπολη από την Τουρκία που συμμάχησε στην ουσία με τους Γερμανούς και γενικά την Κωνσταντινούπολη αξιώνοντας στην ουσία λόγο της στάσης της απέναντι στους συμμάχους την επαναφορά εν μέρη της συνθήκης των Σεβρών έναντι της Λοζάνης αλλά τίποτα δεν έγινε, ΓΙΑΤΙ ? ούτε αυτά πρέπει να τα μαθαίνουν στα σχολεία για να μην βγουν τα βρόμικα των συμμοριτών και των συμμάχων τους Σοβιετικών που έβαλαν βέτο στα περισσότερα.

I hope with all my heart that Greek people do not think that Italians hate Greece. That Mussolini war was absurd and towards a people that Italians never had considered as enemy. The current crown prince of italy, Aimone of Savoy-Aosta married a Greek princess, Olga, so their son Umberto is italo-Greek (plus other two children).

Where is the propaganda? The video describes the facts from the time of the invasion until October 1940. The Italians invaded on 7th April 1939. Did they occupy all major Albanian ports until 13:30? The answer is YES. Was the resistance of Albanian forces small? YES it was small, otherwise they would not have occupied all ports in 5 hours! Did they occupy whole Albania in 5 days? YES. Did the parliament (all Albanian official representatives) voted to give the Albanian crown to the Italian King and established the “personal union with Italy”? YES, do you see in the video any force inside the parliament? Any guns on the heads of MPs? Later the MPs went on foot to the Italian Embassy and met Ciano. How they went there? Anyone forced them with guns? Do you see any force? Any big army, police, something to force all these Albanian Members of Parliament to go to the Italian Embassy? Later all these people that they welcome Ciano at Tirana on April 1939 from where they came from? They hold Albanian flags. What? they are not Albanians? Yes Albanians, mainly Communist partisans, fought against Italians and Germans LATER in 1941 and mainly in 1943. But for this period 1939 - 1940, YES the majority of Albanians were not negative towards Italians. Sorry that this does not match with what you have been taught at your school, but this is the truth!
