@@GastonShutters I noticed you got your used Noctilux-M 50 mm f/1.2 re-issue from Leica Store Miami. They’re very knowledgeable and helpful, so I’ve purchased most of my Leica gear from them, including the f/1 and f/1.2 50 mm Noctilux lenses recently.
I feel the same on shooting b&w in lowlight or cloudy days. I think color is the best during sunny days and sunsets. Idk if I could ever buy a monochrome camera cause of that reason but to each their own right.
It's so fun. I haven't seen that combination nor heard anyone recommend the Instax miniprinter but just bought one. I fancied the idea of using my M10 as a very cool and capable instant camera with the help of this little printer. And being able to sometimes share pictures on the fly in a very genuine sense rather than a wetransfer days later. Could we be starting a new trend? Anpother reason I went for the miniprinter is, that I like the sort of retro polaroid mini format of app. 2x3". Thanks for the walk through of your interesting lens selection. It gave food for thought!
I too live in south Florida and watching your video was helpful for me I'm new to the rangefinder camera system and am looking for so classes to discuss various shooting situations and their proper settings
@GastonShutters Thanks for your message What’s your thoughts on the M11 monochrome Although the M11 which is for color photography and can be switched to take B&W I would think that it would be easier to use the monochrome one along with the other Yes it’s quite an expensive to go that way
Here is my Leica M travel setup: Leica M6 body loaded with black & white film Leica M10 body 90mm f/2 Leitz 35mm f/1.4 Zeiss Distagon 21mm f/1.4 Leitz with 21mm accessory viewfinder
Is your travel based around self-drive automobiles? I ask because I don’t drive for medical reasons so my travel is by air/train so I’m keeping my kit as light as possible - one M11 plus one or two lenses. Would that change your kit? I’m also thinking about getting an Instax but can’t quite work out how to print there and then. Do you need to import the image into the Apple Photo app and print wirelessly from there or can the M11 connect wirelessly to the printer?
Hey man. Yeah this is my travel kit. I also have a Sony a7CRii that I bring with me with a 24-70 for video and those challenging photo situations. It’s o print with the Instax Wide you need to download the mobile app and print from your phone.
Cool. The latest 2 M11. I envy you 🙌. The M11 Monochrome, do you use a filter to enhance the contrast of cloudy skies, darken the blues, popping the clouds. If so, can you recommend one suiting the quality of that M lenses?
We’re close. I do M10m and M10r with 28 and 50s. My mono kit is 21SEM, 28 Cron , 50 Lux. The color R gets a 24 Elmar and 50 apo. (Recently changed from the 28 Elmarit, which was better on the monochrome.) The only other lens I might carry now is a 90 APO asph and it goes on either (filter-wise). Unlike you, I keep filters (yellow or orange) on all monochrome lenses. Not using color filters on a mono tell me you never shot black and white on film.
I thought the same: why the cheap filters? I hear you that you tested them… yet you say in the video that at night you see problems and have to fix in post. Why not - with all of these other abundant purchases - why wouldn’t you buy B+W MRC filters? They aren’t that expensive compared to the rest of your gear. Said in fun and with gratitude for your videos.
@@joebrown479 Have not had issues with it adnI have some other good brands. including leica filters. I should do a video comparison to demonstrate that. The fact that they are affordable doesnt knock the fact that it has great coatings. Anotehr big deal for me is that they are about 2mm thick instead of the standard 3.5 +mm. Thank you for supporting the channel and your feedback is very valuable to me
the man gave his explanation though. If I had scratched the front element because the cap fell off in the bag, the uv filters would never ever leave my lenses
Am I the only one that can not settle for one body one lens? 🫣
You’re not alone!
@johnkasianowicz6536 glad to know 😂

Indeed!
I love the Noctilux on the M11. The fast fall off, colors, bokeh are outstanding!
Indeed! It shines in the Monochrom as well
Like the print idea...Thank You for the information and safe travels
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Gaston, thanks for sharing this great video. Your setup is similar to mine. What’s the maximum aperture you set on your M11 Monochrom?
It depends on what I’m trying to shoot. For street f11, for close up and night as wide as possible.
@@GastonShutters thanks Gaston! I meant ISO not aperture, sorry. Are you comfortable shooting above 100k ISO for instance?
@@antennaleo oh I pushed it all the way to 200k! But 50K iso no issue!
@@GastonShutters 200k! Sounds like a low light monster camera. Enjoying your Leica videos. Subscribed.

Glad you enjoyed it man. Yeah. This mini printer is part of my travel kit now
Thanks for this video. I will by the M11-P, and because I love a bit more wide, witch 28mm do you recommend. Thanks
Well the new Leica Summicron 28mm is great but the Voigtlander Color Skopar with close focus is a small light and affordable lens
the way the back element of 28 cron exposed during last few minutes of the video makes me anxious 🫣
Hahaha
Nice travel setup, care to share the bag you using to carry both body setup? I have the Q2M and M11 but kind of feel they are heavy.
I carry them in a peak design 5L

My m kit is an m3, m6, and a 21, 35, 50 and 90. All pre 80s
Lens hoods are also helpful to reduce flare and to protect the lenses from damage.
They are. I try to be as careful as possible. I have with me a rubber lens hood that can adapt to any lens when needed

I do not. All the images you see are without filter. I do some minor post work and voila.
Nice kit. Just picked up my first digital m.. m11.
The Instax printer is cool, and fun. Do you print directly from camera over Bluetooth or phone?
From phone usually
What camera bag do you use for your travel kit?
There are two I use. One is the SL3 Medium Oberwerth as my y EDC and the Peter McMinnon Nomatic for travel.

Awesome !
Now to get it at 7kg for carryon flights
M10 + M7
21/2.8 + 35/1.4 + 75/1.4
Or 28/2.8 + 50/2 + 90/2.8
Leica glass without filter
I saved my lens with UV filter so they will be always there for me
"Walkingway" filters? I'd be "Runningaway" :) Kidding aside, I enjoyed the vid and seeing your travel kit. Cheers.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Seeing the reflection on the filter seemed pronounced though… nice set up
Hey there. What do you mean?
@@GastonShutters the reflection on the filter is pronounced i was worried it would degrade the performance of the lens itself
@riswanc oh I got it now. Not at all. All my work is shot with these filters. I have zero complains. And I’ve done tests with and without no issues
Which uv are you using?
Walking Way. They are cheap, thinnest frame I’ve found and have zero negative impact on image quality.
@@GastonShutters Thanks!
Anytime
M11-p + m11-m + 4 lenses + instax? Sorry but a m6 is missing to carry the full value of minivan around 🤷🏻♂️😅
Hahah true! And I did forget about mentioning my M6 which I do bring with me from time to time.
Did you say that lens cost 15 or 50K?
Original Noctilux goes for crazy money. Check it out on eBay. Both prices are accurate 😂
😊
🙂
M240 + 35/2 + 90/4. Stupid simple, super light, "budget" kit ha.
awesome kit!
Awesome kit...except for the uv filters. With all respect, I wouldn't trust all that quality going through a 'piece of glass'.
I was worried as well but I test the heck out of this filters and I cannot see any difference with and without them. Maybe I’ll do a video
