In this Gay Pride episode of Today With James we would like to honor the struggles and triumphs of the LGBTQIA+ community. It's not always a walk in the park or a garden of roses to be accepted in a society where in spite of the principle of non-discrimination, they are denied - both by law and in practice - basic civil, political, social and economic rights. Recognizing that persecution on the basis of sexual orientation is a violation of fundamental human rights is an essential first step towards a solution for human rights violations against LGBTQIA+ people.
We are gay and proud, our voice is our pride. We live up to the promise of equality, liberty, and justice for all. Pride is both a celebration of visibility and a personal celebration of self-worth and dignity.
