Not surprised kyoshi stole a toy turtle and booked it
Ωγη

Yangchen actually made her return it by making her construct a new clay turtle toy because she accidentally crushed the original one. So the one Aang picked was made by Kyoshi.

Just IMAGINE being named the most important person in the entire world, and being led to believe you have insane potential, only for that title to be revoked later and realize that you're just a regular guy
And being sacrificed by your teacher.
Yun had a lot of issues
Tai lung in a nut shell
That's the plot of the Kyoshi novels :) how does Yun live with every lie that has been fed to him for the past few years? How does he feel toward Kyoshi, who stole his avatarhood from him?
Or go into a villan spiral
More info for those interested:
They thought yun to be the avatar because they had seen him in the streets, paying pai sho against strangers using the same strategies and favoring the same gambits as kuruk. To a scary degree. Like kuruk was actually the one playing. Which if you think about it makes some sense.
One night in the kitchen of the avatars mansion, all the cooks and servants sang. Think titanic, rose and jack Dance with the common folk kinda vibes. They were freestyling to. And kyoshi just drops the hardest freestyle ever.
Just that it wasnt actually a freestyle but a poem that kuruk had written for this crush. Word for word. Kelsang heard it all. :)

Thanks for the info bro! 😊
I'm curious, where does all that information come from? I'd love to read up on it all myself.

The Rise of Kyoshi
The Shadow of Kyoshi
Both are novels
Not to mention that the typical Earth Kingdom method didn't work because Kyoshi was being flown around as a baby so they resorted to the air nomads toy method
That and also because the method of Divination was also supposed to be done by a genuine Earth Sage. And back then, society has become so corrupt in the Earth Kingdom that nobles could simply buy the title. And prance around calling themselves "Sages" and not know the secrets of the spirits they were supposed to know.
What is the usual Earth Kingdom method?
@@GThe-su9klI always thought it was because she was part earthbender and part airbender so it didn't give her a solid identity to use a specific element
@@GThe-su9klsince the earth kingdom is so vast, the sages would use geomancy to eliminate half the land from the search, then repeat until they found the new avatar. It didn’t work to find Kyoshi because her parents were flying her all over the place on a bison
It’s very funny when it was basically right after they gave up Geomany that it would have worked
They used a air nomad technique to find the earth avatar because the earth technique wasn't working. We later find out it was because her mother was an airbender and was flying her around on a bison so the earth couldn't find her
Ooooh nice detail
Yep. The division method would've worked flawlessly if they had just stayed in one place for a month or two
Lol
What method?
@@user-je7db7bi7i The Earth Kingdom method is basically flip a coin for directions until you're standing in front of the avatar
I would really like to see an Avatar tv show that follows the lives of the 6 named Avatars before Korra & Aang; Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk, Yangchen, Szeto, & Salai. Sure, we have the novels & comics that explore their lives a bit more, but it would be cool to see more of the 6 of them in an actual tv show.
and have the titles be named ‘Book of Kyoshi’ ‘Book of Roku’ etc
We don’t know that Salai is the Earthbender avatar preceding Szeto. We know there WAS an Avatar Salai at some point, and we’ve seen repeated images of the Earthbender avatar so we know he existed, but we don’t actually know that the Earthbender = Salai
It should be roku kyoshi kuruk yangchen szeto and wan
Why stop there? I propose we see other Avatars past. There’s so many that even these eight themselves barely scratch the surface.
Well we know about Roku so it's whatever, but Kurok and Kyoshi would be really interesting
Imagine the one avatar who picked other toys because he wanted something new 😅

I think Kelsang kept her around because he knew she had nowhere to go. She was a wandering orphan eating off of garbage cans, literally.
Like Mako and Bolin before they got into pro bending
@@Danka42exactly like that, but in a poor village with only a couple dozen houses instead of a million+ people city where people won't really waste any food. Kelsang employed her as a maid/servant when she was old enough though, and she got her own room
I got the vibe that Kelsang was like “well, I guess I’m a dad now” but Jianzhu agreed to serve as her benefactor because he didn’t want to lose a potential asset.
Avatar Kyoshi eating Garbage cans. No wonder she grew to be so fierce.
Yet, even malnourished she grew to be 7ft tall
Kelsang didn't keep her close because of his suspicions that Kyoshi was the Avatar, he kept her close because he genuinely cared about Kyoshi and the people he pays to take care of her were still neglecting her so he decided to keep her close instead. He only suspected Kyoshi to be the Avatar when she recited a poem Kuruk wrote for Hei-Ran.
Where do you know that from? Are there new avatar series?
Unfortunately, no. The infos are from the novels
@@victorivanov582 It's from the book, The Rise of Kyoshi. The sequel to it is The Shadow of Kyoshi. Both are canons to the series.
the world building of this "kids" show is just amazing!

Also while Yun wasn't the avatar, he did become the most broken Earthbender ever. Like inventing techniques that have never been replicated since, like liquefying earth and bending it like water.

Actually, Kyoshi's parent didn't leave her with nobody.
Kelsang was the one who left her with a certain family but she was neglected still, and Kelsang had to take her to the avatar estate
Q
I thought Kelsang kept Kyoshi around because she was an orphan, not because he had ulterior motives
I wouldn't call "perhaps she's the avatar?" an ulterior motive
yep he did
@@Danka42 Well based on what the novels showed us, Kelsang did have an interest in Kyoshi because she chose the turtle and then ran away with it. But the main reason he adopted Kyoshi was because Kyoshi was a stray kid with no one caring for her. Kelsang genuinely loved her. That's why Kyoshi got so mad after seeing Kelsang being killed
I mean it was both- he cared abt her and wanted to protect her but he also had a suspicion that was confirmed by the poem
By misidentifying Yun as a false Avatar, Jianzu created a monster capable of plunging the four nations into anarchic chaos.

Naw I think kyoshi would be pretty lit maybe a movie instead?

Why would she get a series
Not enough people are talking about it but this art is beautiful.
Kyoshi was not born in Yokoya and Kelsang kept Kyoshi around because he unofficially adopted her, not because he thought she might be the Avatar.
I'd rather see them move back in time instead of the future of the avatar world. There is just something about the past that fascinates me about this world besides i am not so happy about the idea for a sci fi world avatar
All they had to do was come up with a show called AVATAR LEGACY dedicating 5 episodes towards the history of each avatar respectively. They can make the episodes 1 hour long. The series can then end when aang as the avatar is born

yo, 💯
Nah, I prefer an Avatar series after Korra.
Expand the universe, there's already a bunch of novels on Kyoshi, so why make a series? Just give us a new Avatar, or an anthology series of old Avatars, to expand and flesh out the world/universe and history within the franchise.
@@alltheworldsastage4785I just don't like the world heading towards modern technology beyond Korra and everyone in their mother having 2nd bedding abilities.

We need series of all these avatars idc if it gets repetitive i love the world building and lore its amazing.
Apparently this avatar kyoshi managed to develop a form of sustained immortality, or rather forced longevity. If you understand the internal workings of the body in terms of cells, what dies and is recycled and reused and made anew, one can, in avatar fictional theory with bending, prolong their life to an unbearable point and maybe even further.
Yeah it’s an earth bending technique she learned from a dude that’s supposedly over 4000 years old

Kyoshi just reminded me of Korra, although Kyoshi wasn't stuck up about being the avatar.
She actually resented it, just like Aang
the fact that she's hurt when rangi refers to her as avatar kyoshi 😭
Tbf, I don’t think Kelsang kept kyoshi around just in case or anything like that
He just wanted to help a little orphan girl who had nothing
And eventually kyoshi became a daughter to him
Can I have your snap
Thanks for reminding me that Avatar Generations will shut down next month... I sure hope someone rips and saves all the art from that.
really? didnt it just get released?
It's gone now since the 2nd I didn't even know about the announcement prior to that and was trying to finish the Kyoshi story but I hit a dead end and didn't know why
Quite interesting. For King of the Hill fans, remember this was also how the Buddhist monks were trying to find the next Dalaï Lama. And Bobby did actually pick the right item (the mirror), to point at Khan Jr.
I don’t know that
That is one magnificent beard
I remember that in a documentary some monks also do it to young children. They bring many toys and the kid that chooses certain sets of things is chosen as the one.
That’s a pretty cool story line. Hopefully they show it when they make their planned episodes for her
If they make an animated series of avatar kyoshi yun would prob have many fans (me included)
Aang was not only the youngest airbending master to ever be awarded the title in his time, but he also took it a step further and mastered water, earth, and firebending in less than a year. Further, he also mastered the arcane art of spiritbending and used all of these skills to take down the Fire Lord. What’s more remarkable, however, is the power of his character and his strength of will. Avatar Aang’s spirit is literally unbendable. Throughout the series, he is told to toss aside his respect for all life when it comes to the Fire Lord. And yet, his refusal to renounce his pacifist philosophy makes him one of the strongest Avatars in the story.
Agree on everything but Aang didn't Master all Elements in a year. He could bend all of them in a year but he wasn't a Master. A fully realized Avatar with true Mastery of all Elements is much much more powerful than 12 year old Aang.
So what are all of this have anything to do with kyoshi video?
If I remember right, the "choosing the proper toy" test is one of the ways they confirm the next dalai lama.
Yes, the Air Nomads are heavily inspired by Tibetan Buddhism.
We need a Kyoshi anime
Incredible work
I just think it’s interesting to have a mixed kingdom avatar. Her mother being an air bender is still wild to me. This is why I assumed at first sight that she was an air bender avatar because of the fans.
She look like mizu from blue eye samurai!
omg right!!
Idk why but something about kyoshi statue kinda scares me 💀💀
We need a kyoshi series🙏
That's why you don't let groupies of the last avatar pick. Their minds have been deeply affected by their avatar.
Yeah Jianzhu chose Yun because he just had Pai Sho skills
bro imagine being called the most important person in the world, and then them going “oh wait nvm its this other guy”
And Kyoshi had big feet. So cute❤
Imagine being called the avatar then they went "oh wait...no..nvm...not you"
he also gets left for dead with a vengeful spirit when jianzhu learns he's not the avatar 💀
The Rise of Kyoshi and The Shadow of Kyoshi animated series when tho
i highly recommended reading the kyoshi/yangchen novels to those who are interested. they are incredibly well written books and you get to learn so much more about the world of atla, through a much less child-friendly perspective.
I just finished the novels wish there was more stories about her
I think Tristan would also be an interesting rival replacement for Yugi instead of Mai that will significantly increase his relevance or influence to the plot.
I read the books! Great novels, both Kyoshi and Yangchen! Didn't know there were drawings of Kelsang and Jianzhu! (are they for somewhere else apart from this video?)

@@TheEnigmaticBM39 I just figured it out... Unfortunately also read the game is going to stop in a week? So after that it's not playable anymore? Would be sad... Pretty curious about the storyline and other drawings of the novel characters
Omg she's a big mommy❤
This reminds me of a real life tradition. The kumari goddesses in Nepal have many trials and processes to get selected, one of the final ones being picking out jewellery / ornaments that belonged to the previous kumari.
Avatar selection is based most likely on the Dalai Lama remembering things from his 'past life'.
Love the books. The way she discovers herself is amazing. I’m waiting patiently for that to be animated.
I still find it crazy that she lived over 200 years
I keep forgetting that finding the avatar isn’t as simple as it was when they found Korra and easy when they found aang. For aang it was pretty obvious bc he was the only air bender left. Before that he was an airbending prodigy. For Korra she could obviously bend 3 elements rather young. I wonder if this next avatar is gonna be hard to identify.
Maybe the trend of the earth kingdom naming the wrong person as the avatar will continue.
Apparently kyoshi wasn't the first avatar to not be named as the avatar in the earth kingdom.
Apparently kyoshi’s was an outlier and usually the test is much easier
I can highly recommend reading the book of kyoshi!
