Fucking Glorious! But what abt Midgard Dwarves!?!!? Or the Watchers!?! Or the dwarves of Krynn and their near immunity to all magic through sheer logic!?!
I read about Half-Dwarves years ago in some FR book. It stated that females were relatively rare and as a result, young usually male Dwarves became adventurers as it was found that Dwarves could procreate with others and if that Half-Dwarf offspring then had children with a full Dwarf, they would be completely Dwarven and some Dwarves embraced this as a way to get new blood and remain fully Dwarven. Whereas our group of 5 people with 2 characters each, had to take at least one Dwarf. We cleaned out some old Dwarf Kingdom, Derro and Duergar and Drow. We Polymorphed all the Derro/Duergar females into Mountain Dwarf Females (We were Mtn. Dwarves) and kept them sequestered for a couple months while we did daily secret "Know Alignment"s until we knew who was to be trusted and who wasn't. Those who kept their old Alignments were released deep in the UnderDark alone while those who were now totally Mountain Dwarf Females joined the community. We made it known we had a surfeit of female Dwarves and soon had many Dwarves from many fallen strongholds arrive...Last I heard we were doing very well with a very strong population. It was a great campaign with BattleRagers, Champions of Clanggedin and such.

Loved this video AJ,the artwork is fantastic. I hope you eventually choose differant types of dwarves and do videos on each of them. I have a very powerful arch/illusionist of 30th level that adored the dwarven culture and its deities and as an homage to their race he created a spell of "8th" level known as "Ellis Dees Amazing Orgasmatron" it can be cast on any species but was created primarily for the dwarves and halfling races for the sole purpose of not only insuring fidelity but also insuring fertility in the couple in question! The spell became extremly popular among the dwarves of his world which had been nearly driven to extinction by our humanocentric Black Company over a 300 year period!
You can destroy their avatar but not them. There have been cases of gods killing gods and during the spellplague I guess it happened but even then those gods came back. Also worship plays a big part if a god has enough believers they can't really be killed

There may not be many half-dwarves, but I wonder about adoption. I would assume any non dwarf raised in their society would be looked after, but worked hard their entire lives. Obviously treated as lesser, not being of Moradin's blood. Also, I didn't hear any mention of dwarves and their military/martial lives (battle tactics, formations, historic battles and heroes of legend). Or is that in Part 3? : )
Imagine this: A male Shield Dwarf Priest of Morodin (aka a smith/miner/architect) is on a pilgrimage to restore lost smithing arts in the far-flung dwarvish strongholds of the realms. In his travels he meets a male human smith who has a burning desire for smithing knowledge. The priest immediately recognizes the spark of Morodin in the young man's eyes and gives him this instruction: "Know this, Manling: that your race has never lived past their first lesson in the sacred art of smithing. I, myself, a proclaimed Wunderkind, labored for 135 years for my first lesson. But if your heart burns strong, you may slough off the slag of your soul and your body will temper with time. I will be gone a long time, but I will return here, and if you are still here and you still desire more knowledge, I will take you as my own son and teach you what I know." With that he hands the man a worn leather bag that filled with something heavy and walks off towards the mountains. The man, perplexed at being handed what he thinks is a sack of gold, turns to the dwarf and calls after him, "What of my lesson?" "Your holding it, Manling." The man opens the pouch and empties a dozen small, heavy, and very finely crafted 20-sided dice into his hands - each made off a different metal and covered in dwarvish runes that have been inlayed with miniscule gems and stones to make up the lettering. The craftsmanship stuns the young smith and after an unknown amount of time of inspection, he turns up his head to call out after the priest...but the dwarf is gone. "I don't know Dwarvish..." After a moment of introspection, the smith's heavy brow sets in iron determination and his hand rests upon the head of his hammer on his belt, "But I will learn."
Great video AJ. I allow half-Dwarves in my campaigns and have rules for them, but the story must be really good... starting with the parents... possibly grandparents. His racial stats vary campaign to campaign as a custom NPC and sometimes paragon level antagonist. His origin begins with his adoptive grandparent, a priest of Pan (an Elfin guy) that adopted his father when his party was investigating a Dark Elf raid on a Dwarven citadel. They and their summoned demons pretty much wiped them out. That Dwarf grew up as not only an Elf-loving Dwarf but also became a Priest of Pan himself. That's when he had some fun and used his charms on a blessed fertility (Pan in my campaigns is loosely based upon Grecko-Roman god Pan/Euros) get-together with an Urban Elf thief (Urban Elves were High-Elves that were corrupted by generations of living similar to and among Humans), a rather brutal one. Surprised and intrigued by her pregnancy, she retired... she was adventuring for the thrills by that time anyway. Her hide-out had more than a Kingdom of wealth. When she saw her child was a hulking big-nose baby, she knew that somehow she carried the Dwarf seed. Being raised by her and her trustees (brutal thugs, opportunists, male consorts, grifters, corrupt guards, etc) and seeming to become a more slender Dwarf the height of a Human with sharper features, he became someone almost born for the role of a (thief) Guild Master who can take down anyone via combat, sneaking or leverage. His only weakness was his more-than-willingness to get his hands dirty. In every campaign, my PC party always eventually kills that guy because of that... not without really hurting in the process.

Frank Alphonso in the Rage of Tiamat, the wrath of Tiamat specifically, there is a mention that some dwarves used to hunt down dragons after the dracorage mythul. At least once a good dragon was hurt in one of these hunts. The good dragons aren’t fans of that, though how the dwarves feel isn’t particularly explored.

@@AJPickett Thanks Will be perfect 30 thousand dwarves born on anniversary of creation forge being used resulting in all physically able dwarven females pregnant....
If females are so rare and important, we would expect to see that reflected in their social structure, leaders etc. We’re also in a high magic setting, one that we do not need to force our contemporary homophobia into. There’s no reason male pairings can’t have M-preg . Hell it’s rare, but there’s men that can carry a pregnancy in our world - we usually refer to them as “transgender” in our current culture. My two cents. Love your videos @AJ Picket. Thank you so much for this wealth of content and information ❤️
I prefer not to inject current issues into my game, knowing that there are likely differences of opinion that would only impede what should be an enjoyable experience for all the players. We don't need to all have the same opinion to have fun.
Anaris10 Exactly! There are so many current issues that don’t need to be injected into the game 😫. Like having only characters that line up with contemporary ideas of “being straight” or 1950’s gender roles. I would never want any players to feel excluded at my table, and it’s a shame that so much of the older TSR or WoC materials actively try to exclude so many demographics of people and families.

Thank you AJ for the lore. It is greatly appreciated and you're videos are loved by myself and most others out there.
Its fine, you can mention the excellent work by other creators (such as Mr Rhexx) in the comments :)
@@AJPickett just didn't want to feel like I was advertising the competition in your comments.
@@rossnorris2351 Ah, well the thing is, we are not competing with each other, together we reach a lot of people who might otherwise not like my style or his, but this way, they have options.
Thanks for the consideration though, that was a nice gesture.
@@AJPickett you're welcome man. Thank you for the content and keep it up.
Thanks for the vid sir.👍🏼👍🏼
Keep up the excellent work AJ! Could you explain the Day of Reckoning?
If Moradin sprang whole from the earth, could he be a Primordial?
Still a god. 🧙🏼♂️
He might be both, kind of like how Corellon Larethian is basically an archfey as well as a god.
Ubtao, and the Elemental gods Ishtishia, Kossuth, Akadi, and Grumbar are Gods/Primordials as well if memory serves correctly.
I hope we get a series on the Elves. I couldn't find one if there already is
You know, I am curious what Dwarves think of Gnomes considering both races have a penchant for crafting.
Glad you’re still killin it! Good job!

Damn, i figured gnomes would have clann names of gems. Amazing lore and culture!
How would Io fight? Is he kinda like Xeno (from DBS) in that he doesnt need to fight, and he could destroy the entire multiverse in the blink of an eye if he wanted?
Ao is basically on a different plane of hyper reality. Like "Author" or "Dungeon master".
In Krynn, of the Dragonlance setting, the God dwarves worshipped was Reorx.
Dwarves are born miners. They must be good at minecraft. Those dwarves are greedy and stingy, much worse than Scrooge McDuck. On the plus side, they are excellent builders, blacksmiths and forgers.
Do u hear a funny hiss in audio
I love the idea of a hill dwarf Druid who speaks to stones, helping dwarven miners below, and as guides above.
So Professor... maybe gonna get a look at Correllon soon? :)
Cuz this was one of my favorite videos of 2019 so far
I'm looking forward to Corellon, Titania, and Oberon.
Fantastic man . You're my muse
How long until the video on the lore of halflings? I'd like to know if there is such a thing as 3/4lings (human and halfling)
I myself am, in fact, a Dire Hobbit.
Sabrina Phynn as an aside; the kender from dragonlance.
Ok if asmodeus and demegorgon and orcus and grazzt and all the rest fight him at the same time can they win
I wanna know the answer to this question as well
The forces of light do not go into battle alone. The Morndinsaman, Gond, Tempus, Kord, Helm, etc. would annihilate them
If the forces of light are SO powerful then why don't they eliminate the evil gods and heads of hell and abyss
@@mikemccoy5092 you are forgetting about time travel. The war is happening, always.
@@mikemccoy5092 If the good gods started killing off the evil gods in a concentrated effort then all/most the evil gods would unite and kill as many good gods and wreak as much havoc on the mortal worlds as the could. they would in their final desperate acts unleash the primordials, or the gods from the far realm. The aboleths would take advantage as would any moderately powerful enity/organization would take the oprotunity and take out the good and evil gods while both are at their weakest.
I love the little hairy men.they build they fight they drink and more.I got one dwarf mini had three lost two oh well lol... still a fair amount of hssss.ssss though how can u fix it why does it happens I don't understand
I don't know what hiss you are talking about.. have you tried different listening devices to double check it is not your equipment?
I have been waiting for this! Woooo!!!! :D
Thanks for this! Is there a part three? This video is a year old but I can’t find the next one
Not yet! I should put these out on a more regular basis.

Nice give ME more
Is the god Reorx in the Dragonlance setting, an aspect of Moradin? both share domains, and have similar holy symbols...
He was brought to Krynn from a foreign realm so maybe, he is neutral though.
No, he is not Moradin.
So the dwarves hate giants but how do they feel about dragons? Obviously the good ones
What's the relationship between dwarves and the azer? What I've read is that they are the former dwarven slaves of the giants and titans who were transformed by their exposure to the plane of fire, but their method of reproduction suggest being a construct. WTD?
A bit of magic and a healthy slab of DnD shenanigans.
@@DurandCompton Well, other than just "Magic Bitches!" I only ask because Azer played a role in one of my prior wizard's plans to achieve godhood (pseudo-godhood, actually a transdimensional half-geni whose elemental nature was that of planar boundaries themselves) until my groups bard got me worse than killed. I freaking hate bards.

What happened to Clangeddin Silverbeard the dwarf god of battles?
He's still around
I thought the stout halflings were the result of human dwarf interbreeding
No, they just look like dwarves or humans
@@AJPickett interesting i wonder where i got that from.
I missed it. What book was referenced for this information?
What about Gully Dwarves?
Gully dwarves are not in Faerun. A good reference is an old 2nd edition Dwarves Deep.
Dwarfs aren’t built to swim. Short, thick arms and stubby legs aren’t all that good for treading water. Plus the beards tend to get in the way.

What is the gestational period for a dwarf
12 months (according to 2nd editions 'The Complete Book of Dwarves' pg 26)

Men cant bear children what you have described is a woman pretending to be a man
